I think there's a bit of sarcasm in there - 5TB of SSD is pretty unrealistic, and 2TB of RAM is almost unattainable even with a very large server board (1TB isn't too hard, but...). All the below are NewEgg links, though other places will have similar prices on most things, just at different times and with different advertising. Seriously, though, that video card is quite...bleeding edge. Unless you have money to really burn and are interested in pushing the graphics settings to their absolute max, I might consider going with something like this instead. I would also suggest doing a little more shopping around for the other components. You can get a Seagate hybrid drive here for a lower price, with the same size and some performance boosters, for example, or change out a little storage space for a comfortably sized SSD. Something like this or this would work just fine for power (you don't need 1200W, and probably don't even need 1000W), and it'll cost quite a bit less. Finally, why would you pay so much for a Dell monitor when something like this is essentially identical (slightly faster response time) at half the price? Monitors are fairly durable and long-lived, so you don't have to be too worried about brand and such.

My question would be, "Why is this whole misbegotten thread even in Cafe Lame in the first place?" There's a section for server hosting chat, and probably even some threads in there with good host recommendations. Edit: I moved it instead of just locking it.

Pictures of modern cities or even towns or neighborhoods can give you a very good idea of the wide variation in modern architecture.

The best you could probably do is put something like this in a nice server post, provided you're using a custom pack or one of the Launcher packs. Putting it here isn't going to get much response, especially when you're so sparse with your information.

For future reference, OP, it might be a good idea to mention, in your post, that you have an admin's permission to post this or something like it. That makes it easier to verify it and causes fewer explosions among the moderators.

Check to be sure you don't for some reason have the 32-bit version of Java installed, and Minecraft is running on that. Also, this should go in the Tracker, not on the forums, if your Java bit version isn't the issue.

DropBox works fine, but there are rather strict download limits on a per month basis, so if you have a couple hundred people download a good-sized mod pack, it stops working. Also, Cafe Lame is not the catch-all if you don't know where to put a thread. This one, for example, would probably go in Platform Pagoda.

This isn't really the place. If you want advice on making a mod pack, see the Platform Pagoda section. Also, some of your mods stand a good chance of crashing the server: Portal Guns and MystCraft, used unwisely, are the two fairly common culprits.

It probably is permgen. There's an option to enable it in the menu (gear) in the upper-right corner of the launcher splash screen. This really should have gone in the Tracker, so I'm just going to lock the thread.

There's an appropriate place and an appropriate way to ask for help with mod packs, and it isn't here, nor with this little information.

Okey-doke. Truth be told, 1.4.7 and 1.5.2 are pretty similar from a modding standpoint, and I haven't played Big Dig in a long time. But yes, you're correct on both counts.

Let me help you with that wall of text. Technic was a single-player mod pack. Since 1.3, single player is pointless. Tekkit Lite has several mods that never got updated, so development was discontinued, and it has stayed at 1.5.2 Forestry will never be added back into a mod pack made by the Technic team. However, there are plenty of packs on the platform that have it. You repeat yourself a lot. It's not helpful in getting your point across when your paragraph is twice as long as it needs to be, and you have no coherent organization of your ideas. None of the stuff you suggest will happen. The Technic Launcher is not dead, and probably won't be for a long time.

- More hostile mobs (Dungeon Mobs, etc) could add some interest - Status HUD and Armor HUD might be useful - If you're going for adventure rather than just straight magic, Floating Ruins, More Dungeons, etc, would add to exploration - There are several addons for TC4, besides the ones you've listed, that you could add. - I'd definitely make sure a good map mod is in there. Also, I moved the post to a more appropriate spot. When you actually make a mod pack, just add a link to the Platform page in your OP.

Completely reset? Delete the .techniclauncher and .minecraft folder, and reinstall. Anyway, this doesn't belong here.

Java 8 (1.8, whatever) has been known to cause issues, on Mac or PC. Anyway, I'm going to lock this and let your post in the Tracker handle it from here.
