Issues belong on the tracker, and try following the template. Any further replies have to happen there. It sounds like your game is not crashing, so you won't have any crash logs. Make sure you have the latest official graphics drivers. In case of an Intel 4400, those can be found here.

Question about transfering Large amounts of RF
Curunir replied to Immagamerz's topic in Tekkit Discussion
Are you sure, plowman? I thought Tesseracts still have the 20% loss on power transfers. The solution with several Reactor Power Taps is for when you run several Conduit paths. Place Forge Microblocks Covers (any material) to insulate the paths if you have not enough space to separate them. Several Taps may also be useful if you're running a huge reactor that outputs way more than even a Laser Drill setup will take. After all, it's no use if the Tesseract outputs 50K RF/t, and the machinery can only use 20 or 30. So in that large setup, it may be useful to run two or more separate Tesseract frequencies for power, fed by separate Taps.- 12 replies

The problem with in-suit power generation is the latent overheating issue. I don't trust that stuff since I had a major overheating case that killed me no less than four times before I figured out it was a bug. It can work fine for long periods of time, and then kill you when you least expect it, and have not taken any precautions against suddenly dropping dead. Btw, using external Energy Cells in your inventory will allow you to even forfeit in-suit batteries entirely, which makes for a phenomenally light Powersuit.
-
You can place these things in a Thermal Expansion Energetic Infuser. Although it is easier to simply carry a charged Flux Capacitor (which doubles as a recharging tool for Redstone Arsenal gear) or a charged Energy Cell. All of these, even the block-type Energy Cells, can be charged at a Flux Capacitor, so it may be a good idea to set one up as a charging station. When using a Flux Capacitor, remember that you have to activate it with sneak-right-click while holding it.

Alright, there are people out there who find it difficult to locate crash logs, or to submit them. So without further ado, here is a short guide how to do it: 1. Click the little cogwheel icon below the pack that crashed on you. In the example, it is Tekkit (main). 2. In the menu that opens now, choose "Open Folder" 3. A file browser should open (Explorer on Windows 7 in the example). Navigate to the directory "crash-reports" 4. There should be a plaintext log for each crash that occured since installation. If unsure which is the right one, look at the date/time stamp. The one you want will probably be the newest. The logs with "-server" appended are from singleplayer mode, and occur when the singleplayer internal server crashed. 5. Open the log in a text editor (Notepad on Windows 7 in the example), select the complete text and copy it to clipboard with Ctrl+C. 6. Go to a text-dump site like Pastebin and simply Ctrl+V drop the whole log into the box. Click "Submit" at the bottom of the page and solve the ensuing Captcha. 7. The log will be uploaded instantly (or quickly, if your connection is slow), and you can simply copy the URL from the following page. This will always point to your log from now on. 8. Use this URL in your issue ticket on the tracker.

Welcome also to you. Maybe you want to actually follow those links I keep dropping absolutely everywhere, then you should be able to find the issue tracker. Posts there work basically like threads, but require some more formal information to be created, like version and operating system used. We are not doing any support on Discussion. I know the tracker has its weaknesses, but the rules around here mandate that it has to be used for any kind of technical issue. I did not write these rules, but I do support them, because they represent the wishes of the Tekkit developers. Without them, there would be no Tekkit. If you are a guest in somebody's house, you should observe common courtesy, and respect house rules. To spare people the hassle of opening an issue ticket for every single known glitch they encounter, I took the time to write the >unofficial FAQ. This, too, is not perfect, but might help some people find and fix the problem on their own. If you have some ideas how to improve all of this, please share them. P.S.: As for how to locate crash logs, I >added that to the FAQ now. Good luck solving your issue.

I suggest including the Simply Jetpacks update mentioned in this ticket. It fixes a crash that makes the Machinist's Workbench unusable, although it only occurs in singleplayer mode for some strange reason.
-
Issues belong on the tracker. In this particular case, you are experiencing a large-scale problem that seems to affect many users - I got it myself. If you check, you will notice that Mojang is having server troubles. You can either set online-mode=false in your server.properties or wait for Mojang to resolve this. The setting will cause the server to skip authenticating clients with Mojang, which is a double-edged sword. For a small private server, it should be safe to use.

Styles differ, and if you follow the progression I lined out here, you will have no issues farming copious amounts of Mob Essence, while it may be more difficult to gather all the resources for the Powersuit. The latter also is vastly more complicated to use, most notably with the overheating issues (and bugs therein). Since we have Simply Jetpacks now, I think it is prudent for new players to postpone that Powersuit and look into other things first. I killed the Wither a few times now with enchanted gear and a Resonant Jetpack. It is a viable path. Of course, nobody keeps you from favouring the Powersuit, maybe starting with a basic loadout. But I maintain that a basic Powersuit loses to enchanted Diamond plus Jetpack. The Powersuit needs to be nearly fully equipped to supersede that. Ultimately, there is no right and wrong, just a lot of choices.

Forge Microblocks is the primary solution. Immibis Microblocks is kept around because it is still required as a workaround. Neither Rednet Cable nor ME Cable and assorted items are compatible with Forge Microblocks right now, and can only be covered with Immibis. Only when this is resolved, the Immibis version can be deactivated or removed. I see no point whatsoever in adding Tinker's Construct. We have Redstone Arsenal and Modular Powersuits; also MFR enchanting machines vastly increase the usefulness of vanilla enchanted Diamond Armour. TC has no place in Tekkit, imo.

Faithful Ninja Faithful X32 for Tekkit!
Curunir replied to DiscountNinja's topic in Tekkit Discussion
Works alright. Together with Optifine, a nice option to make things look less bland even on slow machines. But one thing. If you don't want to take credit, then why are you crediting yourself in the resource pack description? Is it Vattic's pack or Ninja's pack? Or were you contributing?- 5 replies

Welcome to Tekkit. Please observe that we handle issues only on our issue tracker. There is a template you should use, and don't forget sharing the crash logs, which are the most useful tool to quickly identify your problem. You may also find the >unofficial FAQ useful.

If that happens, you most definitely have not started the server correctly. You have to start it using Tekkit.jar, because starting it with minecraft_server.1.6.4.jar will start a vanilla server. Easiest way to do this is simply using the script: Launch.bat on Windows, launch.sh on Unix (Linux/MacOS). Any further questions are only handled on the issue tracker.

Rise of the Machines: Showcase your tekknical achievements
Curunir replied to Curunir's topic in Tekkit Discussion
Nice setup. It would be even nicer if you used the format I suggested. Pro tip for those single-block Planters: Use Cobblestone "Upgrades" (-1) to reduce their area to the single block above, so the game will not poll eight more useless blocks around them. -
Found something after all: The Reversing Hoe will work. Not cheap at all, and you really should "divide by Diamond" to create the semi-stable Ingots. But there it is, a way to turn Dirt Blocks into Grass Blocks.
-
There is quite a lot you can do there: The Nether is a comple world with its own rules and possibilities (from vanilla Minecraft, mentioning it for completeness) The Moon and Mars from Galacticraft are additional worlds, again with lots of things to do there Mystcraft Ages are custom-created dimensions that may be fun to expore and (ab)use Dimensional Doors adds some crazy stuff, although it is not exactly stable at this point, so use at your own peril There is no reason to demand more Overworlds, because (at least in the PC version of Minecraft), the Overworld is theoretically endless. New chunks will be generated ad nauseam no matter how far you go away from your spawn point. Practically, the server's memory and processing capabilities do impose some limits, though. Mystcraft will still allow you to create Overworld-like dimensions if you master it, so maybe you want to study that.

Rise of the Machines: Showcase your tekknical achievements
Curunir replied to Curunir's topic in Tekkit Discussion
Name: The Spawnery Purpose of construction: Professional Mob Grinding via MFR machines How it works: Four Auto-Spawners at the bottom of a blast-proof room spawn whatever is required in large quantities (just insert the desired creatures caught in Safari Nets). An array of Grinders lining the walls will kill anything quickly, and forward the loot and recuperated Mob Essence. What I especially like about it: The room is large enough to allow for anything up to Ghasts being spawned conveniently and will harvest even rare loots very quickly. I got a stack of Wither Skulls in a rather short time, once I obtained four Wither Skeletons to place in the Spawners (requires "Spawn Exact Copy" option set to true). Farming Ghasts to obtain more Ghast Tears for some more Reusable Safari Nets is trivial as well. The Tank Pillar serves no functional purpose other than keeping mobs out of the dead zone in the middle, where no Grinder can reach. Note how all vulnerable parts, namely Grinder faces and the Tanks, are covered with Obsidian Glass Covers for protection. Here is the gallery: The ominous glow comes from the Mob Essence, stored in a visually-appealing stack of Resonant Portable Tanks. It's a rather compact room, considering the hardware it packs beneath the surface. Floodlights on! I installed them to illuminate the room for maintenance work, but it turns out that hardly anything spawns on its own even when it's dark. A peek through the door. Observers are safe behind this one, even when all hell breaks loose inside. The control unit is up top. The lever controls the floodlights, the Chest is the end point of all loot transfers, and external sources of Mob Essence can be plugged in here. It should be obvious what the Tesseract and Energy Cell are for. -
So my recommendation stands. Until you find yourself able to craft a Powersuit with all bells and whistles, thoroughly enchanted Diamond Armour parts are recommended. Use MFR machines to enchant tons of books, and take your pick.

I think MFR is still work in progress, so it lacks a few items. But otherwise, it's quite near 100%. Another thing: There are animated and non-animated Nether Ore textures (same for Netherrack and Soul Sand, I think). Default patches seem to use animated, so in case the animation annoys you, it is possible to switch the textures for static ones. The animation is rather subtle, but it might still be disturbing for some.
-
Not too unusual, depending on your internet connection. The first time you run a pack is the time when the launcher downloads it, and large packs can be several hundred MiB in size. Start time should be considerably faster the second time you start a pack.
-
I think most mod blocks were working, but vanilla blocks were not covered by Sphax for some reason. That and some more glitches that I can't even remember. You could opt to roll your own even if you don't know the mods too well. Just throw together those that you do know are in Tekkit, then enter the game and look into NEI. It should be trivial to spot the ones that still have vanilla textures, and the WAILA tooltip will tell you which mod they are from. There are some mods with sub-mods in there, namely Buildcraft (sub-mods BC Builders, BC Factory...) and Computercraft. So it might be necessary to get more than one patch for those.
-
I knew about the landmarks, or rather, that you need 4 to define the cube area. I got it to do what I wanted in box mode. Which still means that everything else from BC Builders is not working, or rather deactivated. Well, at least the Filler has basic functionality.
-
A mode switch? I think the artist who made the Sphax patch for this gave up some of the visual clarity. I will try and see how it works.
-
I have seen in tutorial videos that the Filler has a 3x3 grid, but it only has a one-field slot right now, which I assumed is meant to hold a template or blueprint. I could not place blocks there, at any rate. I wanted to create my new mob spawn chamber, lined with Obsidian, and the Filler seemed the right tool for the job. So I'm back to doing everything by hand, it seems.
