  1. Now with cussing and amazing music.
  2. 200/3, now shut the fuck up.
  3. Contempt for clueless people.
  4. He was being facetious, silly.
  5. Single inheritance, single unified tree with Object at the top. Less flexible, but less error-prone. I view it as a mid-level language: Less power and control in exchange for less hassle and complexity.
  6. Your first point is purely subjective, but the rest I'll grant you. :P
  7. No, he doesn't have enough programming skill for that. He would just use threads for primary instantiations of classes that should have been static in the first place (like Explosion). You can't really expect any sophisticated multithreading (even by accident) from someone who turns a simple function call with one-way argument passing into fully-instantiated classes with local storage.
  8. And unless the programmer has created an absurd number of threads (like, in the dozens or even hundreds), the overhead of the virtual task-switching is near-nil, even on a shitty OS like Windows.
  9. You know nothing, since clearly you don't actually read what I write. I have a 3.4 GHz quad-core with 8 GiB of RAM and a GTX 460 with 1 GiB of RAM. For your information. If you decide to go chasing after the point that whizzed by your head, I suggest bringing a bottle of water, because it's going to be quite a jog.
  10. Prestige and dignity? If a waiter here has either of those, he is not called simply a waiter. They are treated loke doormats, most places.
  11. So it's a simulation of being a waiter in the US, then?
  12. No more twelve-cheese burritos for you before bedtime.
  13. The ghost of this thread called out to me from two days' past with a plaintive meeping that I could not ignore. My meaningful contribution, best served in the voice of Archie Bunker, is this: Whaaaaat?
  14. Neowolf, it is dangerous to pull back the green curtain.
  15. The way I feel about the change in Technic's site, is the way I feel about Windows 8 / Unity / GNOME 3: On the one hand, it may be objectively and provably better in terms of flexibility and usability; On the other hand, it is so wildly different not only from how it was but from how I'm used to everything being prior to the past few years, that my brain is literally full of fuck right now. I've probably just got an old mind (yes, old at 32, and isn't that ridiculous and sad) that is being left behind by the current generation.
  16. I tried a 32x pack once, but it just felt icky, almost like somehow the normal Minecraft look was distorted and fuzzy. (No, it wasn't the pack: It was a good pack.) I need at least 64x to convince my brain I'm looking at something entirely different, so it won't constantly be comparing the two.
  17. I wonder how much demand for a 256x pack for Technic there would be. Not many boxes could manage that big a pack with all those mods. Even I can't get 60fps doing that.
  18. All you need is http://www.gimp.org/ and http://www.google.com/search?q=creative+commons+seamless+textures to make a texture pack for Minecraft.
  19. The Minecraft TOS (on minecraft.net) explicitly allows the placement of ads on YouTube videos of Minecraft, so it actually is legal. You can tell YouTube you have permission by pointing them to Minecraft's site. Now, I doubt YouTube will let you do it still, without being in some sort of group like The Game Station, because YouTube does have to cover its ass, and sometimes they cover it more than they need to.
  20. Without further mod updates, though. New MC = stasis until next.
  21. I am so torn right now. On the one hand, I'm a cynical bastard who thinks August 1 is rushing it, and is actually mildly insulted by the "Valve time" comment, because while Valve games may be delayed and never have a 3 attached to them, they actually work when they come out. On the other hand, I'm so weary of being cynical. (I'm not this way by choice, you know.) The idea of a smooth, working Minecraft, to me, is a fond fantasy I feel I'm always seeing glimmer and twinkle where the ocean meets the sky. *sigh* Here's to hoping...I guess.
  22. What, August 1? Geez, this ought to be an interesting few months. (Where do you get this information, anyway? I'd rather gouge out my own eyes than try to wade through the tide of irrelevant crap that is either the official twitter feeds or the MC forum.)
  23. Well, lots of big companies with big games over-dramatize their beta tests (which are half demos and half PR shows, at times), so the modern shallow-thinking PC gamer ends up treating any development release or snapshot in exactly that way. They've somewhat been trained to it.
  24. I genuinely think it is genuine and not trolling. Which is either sad (but entertaining), or a -really- good trolling.
