  1. Couldn't you just call "setLightValue" on state change, and once per world load? (I have not looked into the code to see if this would work or not.)
  2. Careful: Your ignorance is showing.
  3. Because it took those Swedes two years to put their own game in anything but English, right?
  4. Yes, acronyms are alright when used in moderation. I use "btw" frequently, "gtg" I don't use but find acceptable, and so forth. I use "wtf" all the freaking time. Acronyms have been part of our language for a long time, and are a reasonable form of abbreviation, because they fully-represent the original phrase in its true form (so "gtg" is okay but "g2g" is not) and it is a phrase that is used frequently enough that communication is actually -aided- by the abbreviation. An example: "Rsvp" is used so much, it has actually become a word in itself, such that many people don't even know what it stands for anymore. Saying "rsvp" is not a timesaver anymore: It is an actual compact idea. (I hate to admit it, but "lol" has become this as well, even though I hate that word like I hate sucking on a raw lemon.) What it boils down to is, how is the language (an actual tool of communication) improved by the abbreviation or elision? When you do something, you should take at least a brief moment to think, "Am I actually contributing anything by doing this, or is this purely for my own convenience at the expense of others', or is this actually something stupid that helps neither myself nor anybody else?". Of course we don't all use language perfectly, and in truth, "perfect language" is a false concept because it's a matter of common agreement or momentum anyway. I tend to use punctuation uncommonly, especially colons and semicolons: I favor a more ancient-Greek construction where ideas flow from one to the other. I also randomly swap between English and American spellings as the mood strikes me, I hyphenate frequently, and I often prefer the more-logical programmerish punctuation around quotations rather than the better-flowing literary one. ([she said "Hi.".] rather than [she said, "Hi."]. The latter is better when reading a book, but the former is (in my opinion) better for actual communcation, because it is more exact.)
  5. While playing SW:TOR just now, someone used "g2" instead of "got to". Yep, that's a thing that happened.
  6. Come on, now. Even the cynical and jaded mind of a creatine raper can't believe that one's real. ........... (I hope.)
  7. Don't bring logic into this, but the point of the comment is that some people nowadays hold dicks more often than they do pens.
  8. Noted, but the "not native to English" argument is worthless in this context, because we're talking about a very large portion of the US population that hasn't even left the country for more than a week at a time for five generations and couldn't write an essay if they were handed a dick and an inkwell.
  9. Think about it this way: Before the Internet, there were mistakes and typoes, but they didn't really bother as many people as they do now. I remember reading printed books where I'd discover a typo, but not until the fifth or sixth reading, because my brain just automatically corrected it. Sure, people messed up homophones, swapped letters, and yes, probably even added extraneous apostrophes (though I hadn't ever seen that before the current "texting" generation). Probably the reason it bothers the fuck out of me so much, is it's "a sign of the times", of the shifting attitude of society, where written (and spoken) communication just isn't anymore something people put any energy into. As I saw a poster say, "1984 wasn't supposed to be an instruction manual." The mistakes with homophones and apostrophes in particular are a sign of people just not reading and writing actual books anymore, because doing so reinforces the language, leading to fewer mistakes. Some people are naturally better or worse at spelling and construction, but it is immediately (and painfully) obvious when someone just does not bother with anything more than rudimentary communcation. This eats away at me because it is a symptom of the degredation of society, with attention spans getting shorter, patience getting shorter, interpersonal relation and interaction fading away. How far down the slippery slope of "what's the big deal, man" are we going to go before we finally start giving a fuck again, or will we actually reach bottom in my lifetime?
  10. Even the "professionals" are screwing it up. Saint's Row 3 has numerous typos in subtitles, and I just saw a Blizzard rep say "item's" in an otherwise well-written posting. I refuse to accept this as a natural progression of the language.
  11. Stop making me google things that fill me with horror and loathing. No, really...stop. x_x
  12. There is no reason to decompile so many damn mods all at once: It's just an unnecessary headache. But for reference, the error you get is exactly the one I talked about in the guide. RetroGuard error: COM.rl.obf.classfile.ClassFileException: ClassNotFound buildcr aft/api/BptBlock In this case, you need to find BptBlock.class and stick it in, and it should be in "buildcraft/api" somewhere in a .jar or .zip mod file. Every time you get that error, find the file it wants, and stick it in. Repeat until you don't get that error. And for the record, if you can't find the .class file, try to actually run Minecraft with the mod installed first. If it works, then you're screwing something up. If it doesn't work, then you have to figure out what's missing.
  13. In other news, public schools are phasing out classes in cursive handwriting, prompting some universities to consider creating elective courses for those who wish to be able to read "historic" documents.
  14. These people are the next generation, the ones running the planet when I'm too old to do more than fart all day. Why in the hell should I not be upset?
  15. I assume you mean block IDs, because item IDs are not in short supply. At least you have a valid argument (until Mojang finishes their fix, anyway), rather than "waah I want my users to yell at Technic intead of me because I am like little babby man".
  16. Though first check to make sure that the EE guy might not have been smart and used a list instead of a switch statement, in which case you could add to the list by reflection instead of replacement. I wouldn't get my hopes up, but it could be.
  17. If it gets updated but just lacks compatibility with a core Technic mod, come back here. There are several people on this forum capable of class-merging if one of them is impressed enough.
  18. WHICH DOESN'T MATTER BECAUSE YOU CAN TURN IT THE FUCK OFF oh my god. YOU CAN TURN IT OFF. That means it doesn't matter. It's OFF. Keep your Jesus off my penis and I'll keep my penis off of you. Bonus points if you get the reference. Extra bonus points if you realize how stupid the discussion is and just go away.
  19. Not sure if I'm supposed to clap, or hold my head in pain.
  20. Yeah, kind of like Dodger out of TGS, the way she abbreviates EVERYTHING. "Whatevs", "natch", "for reals", ugh. She manages to be -just- charming enough that I don't want to gouge out my ear canals, but only barely.
  21. Maybe because your argument for its removal (or lack of reinsertion, if you prefer) was not only inane, it was about the ninth time I've seen it in the past couple of months. And it was just as inane all those other times, too. The idea that someone wants a thing removed from a pack, a thing that can be easily individually disabled or removed by every single person who doesn't like it while being kept by every single person who does like it, is just infuriating to me. It shows overweening self-concern and an inability to function in society.
  22. Oh, you poor widdle baby. Do the mean Minecraft fans yell at you too much so it makes you feel sad and lonely? Because maybe nobody gives a fuck about your server's issues except your server's population. And, y'know, player choice is hard. "Take it out for me so I don't have to listen to people complain when I take it out myself." Best argument ever, really.
  23. Derpy would never say such a mean thing.
  24. How about the time someone said "they'r" instead of "their".
  25. Neowolf, what in the ever-loving doublefuck...
