  1. It's a bit of a random idea, and I'm not sure how useful or possible it would actually be (although I can think of a few uses for it), but would a sort of gravity motor which when activated makes the carriage drop like gravel (except as one structure, not separate blocks) work? I'm just thinking of ways to make a sort of drop pod from an airship. Also, you've probably mentioned this already, but is there a reason that placeholder blocks aren't solid (you can go through them)? It just seems to me that they would work better if they were solid, and prevent people from falling through.
  2. Different people. I think being unable to connect to Minecraft.net gives a different error to having the wrong username/password.
  3. Try updating Java. I had a few crashing at Mojang errors with another modpack because my Java version was a few updates behind.
  4. How to do what, exactly? "This" is rather vague. Also, a Tekkit Classic server probably wouldn't need an up to date tutorial since it's so old.
  5. MHPage12 should be banned for having two names - one his account name, the other in his profile picture. He's obviously an impersonator and not trustworthy enough to be a member of these forums.
  6. Yes, the world file's not changing. If you ever log back in in offline mode, your "Player" will be exactly as you left it.
  7. If you're playing offline, you'll be called "Player". Once you log on, you'll have your actual name back and will load your actual playerdata file which contains your inventory.
  8. The Minecraft login servers are down. There's no way to tell how long this'll go on for.
  9. Ysharma should be banned for impersonating a god. All hail Turtleism!
  10. You use your Minecraft login to use the Technic launcher. You need to have bought Minecraft, and if you've got a Mojang account you use your email instead of username.
  11. The logs should be there regardless of whether the server crashed or not. How else are people meant to work out what crashed the server? Feel free to post the error log if you can, I'll have a look.
  12. It's more likely that someone is changing their name to yours than them actually using our account, unless they have some way to access it without putting in a password (someone else using your computer?) check the logs for when your account logged in - in particular around the time it happened. If your server is in offline mode, anyone could log in as any name they like, by the way.
  13. I suspect that since you're using both 1.5.2 and above, the lowest version you'll need is the one currently in the latest recommended build of Tekkit. Anyone using any other modpack likely either updates to latest builds or sticks to the latest recommended, especially if they're adding mods of their own in (they could just update the pack themselves if it was behind the latest rec. build). I can't give you a specific since I don't have access to my computer, but it shouldn't be hard to discover.
  14. ...Yes it was. It's just that there wasn't a "1" in it - it was simply Tekkit. You can possibly get it in the Technic launcher - I haven't tried. Tekkit 2 and 3 changed Minecraft version and switched a few mods around. The change was more profound in Technic. Tekkit 4 would be an update of Tekkit 3, not a different modpack entirely. By your logic, Lite should have been Tekkit 4, but I don't see you complaining about that. Anyway, what makes you so certain that Tekkit isn't going to update to a newer version of Minecraft? You just seem stubborn with this - you're obviously going to be right because you're so annoyed at stuff not updating in the past. Your opinion on whether Lite should have been updated or not makes no difference to the modders updating their mods. The fact that you're so obsessed with being right that you're convinced they'll call it Tekkit 4 just proves how stubborn you're being here. Face the facts - the new Tekkit mods are updating. The old ones aren't. You're just being stubborn and refusing to believe that things can go a way other than how you want them to.
  15. Tekkit Classic is the one that you used to play. Tekkit Lite is for MC 1.4.7, has no Bukkit or EE2, but includes updated versions of mods as well as a few new ones such as Minefactory Reloaded and Dimensional Doors. the new version of Tekkit (just called Tekkit) has a very different mod set to Classic in many ways because several mods stopped or slowed updating, preventing them from being used in a new pack. The vast majority of things you could do in Tekkit Classic are possible in Tekkit, with the exception of most EE2 things, they're just done with different mods and different names. Your original world should work with Tekkit Classic.
  16. Not really. Something's taking up a lot of memory by the sounds of things, so it might be worth checking if it is the logs. If it is, search for a plugin to remove it periodically.
  17. You have no idea how true this statement is... I think they originally announced it around... Minecraft Beta 1.8? Hopefully it's actually getting somewhere now though - version independent mods would make modpacking so much easier...
  18. Is the log piling up again? They sometimes do that.
  19. You do realise that Tekkit is Lite updated, right? It was the only update really available to them. They don't have the power to just decide that a mod should be updated, and updated now, they're at the mercy of the modders. What kind of an "update" could Lite have had other than a world destroying, largely different update with new Worldgen and ores? Would you rather your Lite worlds got bulldozed for the sake of progress than a separate modpack get built to spare you from losing everything and giving you the choice to play like you were? You say you understand that RP2 and IC2 didn't update, ut you expect the pack to be able to update regardless. Tekkit is how Lite would have been if it had updated, just like Lite was how the original Technic would have been. Mods may have changed, but there was no way to stop that.
  20. So they're not allowed to change that? Just because some versions were left as they were doesn't mean that all versions should do the same. What's your problem with them having one Tekkit which they just update, rather than loads of little dead modpacks?
  21. ...But they don't want to make a Tekkit 5. That's the whole point of just calling it Tekkit - they want one modpack which they update, not tonnes of dead packs which they're never going to so much as glance at again.
  22. 1. Most people refer to it as Tekkit Main because of the folder name - I think they called it that because they wanted it to be considered a new Tekkit - the main, proper version to be updated. It is confusing, though. 2. I'm pretty sure Jeb puts his job before modders. Some of them take ages to update for real life reasons or even just because of the size of their mod, so it wouldn't make sense to wait for, as an example, Redpower - Eloraam has things going on IRL which prevent her from putting as much work into her mod from what I understand - whatever her reasons, Redpower isn't going anywhere particularly fast and it could be months until an update for all we know. Why should Jeb put the job that he's paid to do on hold to wait for people who do it for free that he doesn't know are even going to update? Wish all you like, but it's not going to happen. 3. That's an opinion. They were certainly the largest and most used mods in older editions (bar, perhaps, EE2), but if they aren't going to update then any modpack overly reliant on them won't either. Most of their features have been replaced by other mods, which are well worth checking out - specialisation can lead to some impressive and interesting features. These more than make up for them, you just need to give up on stubbornness and play them. Jeb "copying" ideas from mods (as he is well within his rights to do, however controversial it may be) is pretty irrelevant to everything else you just said. Keep in mind that there are so many mods with so many features that it would be pretty impressive if Jeb managed to not copy a mod in some way or other when adding content. The last part I do agree with though, I wouldn't mind seeing updated versions of IndustrialCraft and Redpower - they're good mods and their lack of updating doesn't change that. They're just not so good that it's worth dropping everything else just to wait for them to update.
  23. Perhaps you should put in a message every time your mod hits an error telling people where to report it. It might not catch all the errors, such as errors caused by other mods involving RiM, but perhaps it'll make a few more people notice.
  24. Just to point out, you won't be able to add Thaumcraft to Tekkit Classic. Thaumcraft 3, the latest one (publicly released, anyway - I hear 4 might be in the works), doesn't have a version for Minecraft 1.2.5, which Tekkit Classic uses. The mod needs to support the version of Minecraft that it's running on, otherwise it won't work. Short of back porting the mod yourself, you won't get Thaumcraft 3 on a Classic server. Of course, there was a Thaumcraft around at the time of 1.2.5 - Thaumcraft 2. As far as Minecraft versions are concerned, that's fine. However, at Minecraft 1.2.5, the server and client versions of Minecraft were separate, and therefore the same had to apply to mods. There was never a server version of Thaumcraft 2 released, and so there is no way of getting that on your server without again making a server version yourself. Even if there were, it would also need to be Bukkit ported (more work for you). Just to clarify, back porting a mod past the Minecraft 1.2.5-1.3 gap or making a server version for a closed source mod is no easy task for someone with no modding (actual modding, not putting mods in folders) experience, otherwise someone would have done it by now. Chances are you're not going to get Thaumcraft in there, whatever version you use.
  25. The technic launcher isn't built to use MC 1.6.2, and doesn't recognise it. It makes sure that your Minecraft.jar has downloaded correctly by checking the file against the Minecraft versions it knows. If it doesn't match, it pulls that error. You'll have to be patient and wait if you want 1.6.2 + on the launcher - from what I understand the new Minecraft launcher has changed how things work inside, and at the same time more features are being added to the technic launcher. There's no hard ETA, but they're working on an update to support 1.6 among other things.
