  1. If you're using Tekkit Lite, making a "Vanilla" world is surprisingly easy. Just make a MystCraft world like normal, but don't select any biomes and use "Native Biome Controller" as Biome controller.
  2. Yes, the Technic team CAN strip down Tekkit and add GalactiCraft. It's THEIR pack. Honestly, nothing was lost. IC2 is dying, RP2 will take a very long time to update, so what do you want? I'm willing to bet you haven't even tried Thermal Expansion, which replaces a lot of IC2's functionality. RedPower's Wiring and Logic has been replaced by MineFactory Reloaded's RedNet. Everything has been replaced. And it's not like they added GalactiCraft just to shut people up.
  3. Microblocks are 100% replaced with Immibis' Microblocks, and the microblocks can be removed in Creative without having to punch LMB 10 times, and work with any opaque decorative block, even those added by mods. RedPower Logic and Wiring is replaced by RedNet, which is superior to RP2's logic system. Not sure if Immibis' Cover Plates work on RedNet Wires, but okay. Lighting has been replaced by Thermal Expansion's lighting, which looks very, very pretty. Seriously, kudos to the developers for this. That's pretty much it.
  4. Restrict MystCraft's Descriptive Books to Admin-only. Make sure the [ComputerCraft] and [buildCraft] fake players can't access protected areas, if you have any. That's pretty much it. Dimensional Doors don't take a lot of disk space, so no need to disable those.
  5. Any permissions plugin. PermissionsEX, bPermissions, whatever.
  6. There's a huge-ass button called "Submit a bug report", that's why you don't have permission to post a topic normally. Click the button and everything will be fine.
  7. You can re-add modular powersuits if you disable your firewall and antivirus and let the game start once.
  8. Disable your firewall and antivirus, and then try again.
  9. I'm not sure how Macs work either, otherwise I'd tell you to type ipconfig to see the local address, and then try using that. You're not using your WAN IP to connect, are you?
  10. My laptop is an ASUS N56VZ, and thus is very, very hard to clean properly. I've had it for about a year or so, and it runs way too hot when playing Minecraft and GTA IV. The fan just doesn't blow quickly enough due to all the dust. But I have to take the whole damn thing apart to clean it.
  11. Yeah, RichardG can be arrogant and backwards sometimes. And IC2 is dead. Maybe someone like GregoriusT will take over, I dunno. But at this point, they're keeping it in a zombie state by updating it to newer versions of Minecraft. If you want to "go to work and come back to lots of shit", then the map would need to constantly be running. So, either it needs to be on a server, or he has to leave his Minecraft open.
  12. EE2 was OP, no question about it. You play for a few hours and suddenly transcend into Creative mode. You should try Big Dig. No, seriously. You'll like it.
  13. It's not all that hard. I first learned Lua in Garry's Mod, for use in Wiremod's Expression2. I only knew a few bits, though.
  14. Like I explained before, it was a single block which gave unlimited amounts of free energy once you placed it, and the entire game started revolving around them. That's the main problem: No one bothered to make nuclear reactors for energy anymore because Solar Arrays were a much better alternative. Why spend any effort on any other energy source when Solar energy was so much better? The game became a race for Solar Arrays. Pumps and Magmatic Engine setups right now require quite some effort to set up correctly, and lava eventually runs out. For nuclear reactors, you needed a good setup, you needed uranium. And for Mark V reactors, lots of planning. You needed to actually have the uranium, and effective reactors required lots of planning, good Redstone timing, and Thermal Monitors didn't hurt either. Besides, they were only accessible and viable somewhere around end-game. Solar Panels and LV Arrays are available pretty early, and as soon as you get a Mass Fabricator, you'll get into a loop. Kinda like an EE2 loop, but a bit more limited and slower to start up. If there's nothing wrong at all with place & forget energy sources, then Redstone Engines wouldn't have been nerfed, either.
  15. There was something wrong with them. They were place & forget without a lot of effort, apart from investing resources. Compact Solars solved the lag problem, but created the problem that a single block could be placed anywhere with very little effort, and would never require any maintenance, ever again, yet still handed out tons of free energy. Also, please don't try to tell me why I like or dislike something. I can decide that for myself, thank you.
  16. If the energy loss is really such a big deal, then use Conduits instead. They have a flat 5% loss, regardless of distance.
  17. The compact solars (arrays) actually combated one problem, but created another. The reason it was made was because people were making huge farms of Solar Panels each giving 1 EU/t. One HV Array of 512 EU/t was A LOT less laggy than 512 Solar Panels of 1 EU/t.
  18. 25% isn't that big of a deal. Phased pipes are kinda OP to begin with. Remember that Tesseracts are incredibly powerful. They allow you to transfer power anywhere, at any distance, across any dimension. You're not supposed to use them to get power from the other side of the room, you're supposed to use them over really long distances, or across dimensions. Considering all of that, 25% is fine.
  19. The main problem is there's no basic or intermediate storage unit. Then again, is such a thing really necessary? Classic power grids work as well.
  20. There are power armor setups which function using little or no power. Think Gliders, Parachutes, that sort of thing. And honestly, EE2 was way too easy. Just condensing stuff was way too easy, even without Collectors. The developer is working on it, albeit very slowly.

    Pipes not working

Pipes are bugged at the moment, either try the 1.1.0 dev version of Tekkit, or use Redstone Energy Conduits, a superior alternative to Conductive Pipes.
  22. Are you in Creative mode, perhaps?
  23. Disable your firewall and antivirus and try again.
  24. Although doubling your ores that way is kinda slow, it provides a small chance of getting Rich Slag. When you smelt an ore with rich slag in an Induction Smelter (Not an induction furnace), you'll get 3 ingots instead of 2 dusts or ingots.
