  1. Holy fuck those are overpiced. OP: Why don't you want to build it yourself? Takes about an hour and is much much cheaper than any prebuilt you could get with similar specs. EDIT: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2HuR4 2500$ build. i7 4770 with 2x 780 Ti. 8 GB of RAM, 1 TB harddrive, huge, roomy case, great motherboard. This will crush anything you throw at it. This will crush anything you throw at it for years to come.
  2. Are you sure it is permgen? Try allocating 2 GB of RAM.
  3. Launcher Version: Build #382 Operating System: Windows Ultimate 64 bit Java Version: Java 7 Update 21 Antivirus Program: None Description of Problem: Launcher recently no longer showed pack images for Tekkit, only had the default images normally shown on custom modpacks without dedicated images. 4. Alright here is something that bothers me that a lot of you are missing, when Descartes said "I think, therefore, I am," he didn't mean he exists because he is able to think. What he meant is that the only thing that you can be completely sure is real is your own consciousness.
  5. Play the game. Sounds for minecraft download in the background, when you first install you won't have any. They will all be working after 10+ minutes of play.
  6. Wat ur steam.

    I forgot who you are

  7. Probably because it is a client side only mod. You don't need it on your server.
  8. Gt640? *snorts loudly* Don't buy HP. They are known for overpricing and shoddy build quality. I don't recommend this specifically, too. You will be paying over 1000$ for a computer that my 600$ build can trump in graphics processing and is not very far behind in CPU. If you are willing to spend this kind of money for a gaming PC, DON'T BUY BIG BRAND NAMES. There are very few big brand names that you actually get your money's worth. Custom is the way to go, ibuypower and Cyberpowerpc are both good for this. Even though you are new, I still would recommend you look into building it yourself. You will get significantly better hardware and performance for your money, and will have a non shite case and motherboard to boot. You also would then be able to better understand the workings of your comp and fix hardware problems easier. Not to mention the lack of all the nonsense bloat that comes with prebuilts. Edit: here is a huge chart with a bunch of graphics cards on it: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/video_lookup.php?gpu=GeForce+GT+640 The shorter the bar the worse the performance. The GT 640 is boxed in red. The processor actually is pretty good, no complaints about that.

Meh, never had much of a love for baked potatoes. Don't have any on me. Or were you a cave man looking for GLaDOS?

  10. I always have used Fraps and it doesn't have this problem. I could understand you not wanting to pay a lot of money just to record smoothly though.
  11. Run it with 2GB of RAM, and increased permgen size. Java has problems with large amounts of RAM allocated to it. Use the command line option -Xincgc. Enables incremental garbage collection, forces Java to dynamically manage it's memory usage instead of waiting until it is full and dumping all at once. Record to an SSD. This will improve performance more than a new CPU or graphics card. Unfortunately, the only advice I can give you besides this is use a different recorder.
  12. Minecraft stream downloads the sounds on a fresh install. This means that it takes around five minutes for all the sounds to start playing.
  13. Irrelavant comment that's intended to be funny!

I find that joke about the Government Shutdown to be hilarious. Bravo.

  14. Why would you necro this post with something so awful and irrelevant? This post was many months old and long dead. Please use common sense when decided whether to post a thread over a month old.
  15. 4096 I recommend the 1250-1500 range, typically unoccupied.
  16. Fucking hell, this update. So much content. You thought the corruption was bad? Well fuck you, here's the Crimson, which is the horrifying bastard child of human anatomy and nightmares. Seriously though, the Crimson is the only biome I don't like going to. It's harder than the corruption, more disturbing than the corruption, and has marginally better rewards for the extra effort. I have trashed two worlds now after playing on them for a while and finding that the Crimson is there instead of the Corruption. The content added is a blast, though, the new chain knife drop from bats gets you a relevant beginning to middle game weapon. The new NPCs, painting (which needs a rebalancing, it is too expensive right now,) the water and lava falls, the added cave detail, the extra world smoothing, so much added.
  17. Only problem is it is next to impossible to claim copyright on a mod for a game.
  18. You have to select an empty folder to install the modpack in. The modpack you are using has requested to be outside of the technic directory due to problems with the mods.
  19. It is fixed now. Xenforo doesn't like you tampering with BBCode in the normal editor.
  20. Uhhhhhhh...your friend is a twat, to put it nicely. Graphics card is going to be what largely dictates performance, and you typically, in the majority of situations, don't need extra cooling for them. A Titan is seriously overkill, however, if you are willing to pay that much, the 690 would leave a LOT of time before you would need an upgrade. We need info on your budget though to be able to give you some relavant reccomendations
  21. Why aren't fish made of bread? Come on, this is serious business...oh wait
  22. I made a mod. I have plans for it in the future, but currently all it does is add some small recipes to the vanilla furnace. You can smelt mossy cobble to get cobble and smelt gravel to get cobble. That's it. The github is here: https://github.com/actioninja/EnhancedFurnace Download is here: http://doesnotsuck.cu.cc/mymods/enhancedfurnace/enhancedfurnace-0.0.0.0.zip I don't know if this works or not. I haven't even tested this build yet, but I figured I would share it. Bask in the glory of two lines of code!
  23. If you mean what I think you mean, you need to add the source of buildcraft to your Minecraft project folder in eclipse. The easiest way to do this is downloading the source, and then drag and drop the root source folder of it into the src folder in eclipse. Eclipse will automatically sort out packages and the like.
