This has been addressed already a few times but I'll try to help. The technic launcher uses spout as a base which anyone can go and download and look at the source to make sure it doesn't collect your information. (It doesn't) What the launcher does is it logs you in just the same way the official client does. You're communicating directly with the mojang authentication servers. The launcher needs to do this to actually install the game. Obviously we can't distribute mojangs minecraft.jar since that's against their TOS, so the launcher requests it from mojang directly, and mojang requires you to prove you own an account and can legally do that. We at no point have or can ever see your usernames or passes. Also, what dragonshadz said. Technic is a labour of love. Edit: That reminds me. If you see any launcher download links or any download links at all popping up on these forums that aren't official, please report them immediately. We don't want anyone's accounts or computers to be compromised or put in danger.

Mod Edit: Offline Mode exists now so everyone can shut the fuck up. Yarr. Edit 2: This doesn't mean "GO AHEAD AND START TALKING ABOUT PIRACY!" It means what it says, stop talking about offline mode and piracy at all. You still need a real copy of the game to make use of the launcher. It just doesn't work with a pirate account. Not an anti-piracy measure, it's just literally the only way it can work. If you want to talk about piracy, this is NOT the place to do it. Goddamn common. It's still in the rules post. That didn't change.

The tekkit release needs to be reeled in and reworked, but all in all, technic 6 works great and the launcher is awesome. It's not actually been that bad. The worst thing was a java error we couldn't have predicted (and isn't our fault). Most of the glaring problems in technic 6 got fixed silently and quickly, and everyones versions auto updated via the new launcher. Pretty handy. Offline mode is just something we need to add. We're not trying to make any anti piracy statements or push DRM or anything like that. It's just that it will take extra work to enable it that hasn't been done yet. It was more important to get it out there so people could play it rather then sit on it just for that.

The technic launcher does allocate more ram to minecraft if you tell it to. It's in the options.

Be careful. If you're trying to cram more mods into technic SSP you're going to have to work hard when it comes to item ID's. It's already so full of mods.

You need to sign in to play minecraft. If you are using a pirated account, sorry you're out of luck. Buy the game. Not only does the launcher make it easier for players to get updates and let you switch between tekkit and technic at the click of a button, it makes it easier for us to apply fixes and patches as painlessly as possible. We actually silently fixed several bugs yesterday.

You can start by reading the forums more to determine what the standard procedure for asking for help is. Then once you've found out that you need to say what your operating system is as well as general info about your computer and if you're using any other mods, and then provide logs (located in your .techniclauncher/logs folder) that can easily be copy and pasted into http://www.pastebin.com and linked to here, well then maybe someone can help you.

Thats interesting then. Obviously there's a lot in play that will make looking into this difficult, since everyone has different computers with different specs. Most of the official testers don't get these problems.

All y'all getting the lag, what Operating system do you use? I'm on OSX and experiencing the lag issue as well. My theory is that Notch is bad at code and can't make something in java work well on macs for some reason. I've noticed even in vanilla, there's a huge performance difference between trying to play Mac side vs PC. It could just be that all the heavy mods like millenaire push it over the line. Going to look at the problem though and see if it's actually a problem.

Get him to try the standard trouble shooting steps. Delete everything and anything technic related and redownload. Check that java is the current version and the proper version for your OS (32 bit or 64 bit). Take the cartridge out and blow on it.

I just use Windows Security Essentials. It's free and doesn't give me any trouble. Norton is absolute garbage.
