You clearly have no clue as to how this works. Firstly, don't use AVG (this goes double for the free version). Second, you MUST have Java to run both Minecraft and the technic launcher. Finally, in order for the Technic pack to be updated to minecraft 3.1.2, every single mod in the pack must be updated. This will take a very, very, very long time. In addition every time you ask when it will be, it adds a month to the release date.

Uninstall the pack, get rid of AVG then re-download the pack. Also learn to read the stickies.

Go right ahead. Nothing is stopping you. Keep in mind that the "old way" is manually installing and configuring the mods yourself.

Ahhh yes you are right Zemerick, the Matmos mod (Its a sound mod) has a popup in chat that tells you it is out of date. Because of the nature of the pack some mods update sooner than the rest and so they have updates available. Ignore it. Also try to be more clear in the future.

I loved those games, but you are correct, the sequels were not up to snuff Shame I spent many hours trapping people. My favourite thing to do was leave one way out, but they needed to pay like 100$ for a burger to leave.
