There were never capes in Tekkit. Not sure where you got that idea. This post is really old and obviously out of date. Technic/Tekkit has been updated to use forge and there is no forge compatible download.

Redownload the pack making sure that you turn off all AV's and Firewalls.

that is just MAtmos (a sound mod) that is telling you that it has been updated since the version that is included in the pack. Just ignore that message and it will go away after it shows three times.

Just pop them back into your worlds folder in the .techniclauncher modpack folder.

Heh, I like that idea. I also agree with the EE = Win button but I don't mind it in SSP, it can get out of hand on SMP though.

Short answer: I highly doubt it Longer answer: I assume you mean something like the old YogBox with a tick box where you select the mods you want. The way the launcher works, I doubt this would work without way too much effort. You used to be able to use a config file to toggle mods on and off, but due to the fact that Forge replaced Modloader, this is no longer possible. You can still remove mods manually without too much fuss. As for the purpose of the Launcher, it provides a one stop shop for 5 different versions of Minecraft (many running separate versions of Minecraft) and provides an auto update feature as well as allowing you to back date to most of the previous release versions of Minecraft. I much prefer the new launcher to the old YogBox type downloader that forced you to uninstall and reinstall everytime an update was released.

I think they have gotten a little bit more strict now as well. (Not refering to my Keller I totally deserved that ) The only time I have seen someone remove a Keller early was with GreenWolf. He got a month or two just for necroing and Cheap figured it was overkill.
