The word I highlighted is the issue with your statement. If you have the same problem but are using a mac and are getting a different message, you have a different problem. You should probably post your own bug report.

AVG often conflicts with the download meaning ID Resolver or some config files don't get downloaded. It has certainly caused this issue in the past.

Start with one turtle. Have him make another turtle and program it to make more. They will grow exponentially.

Turn off AVG, upgrade Java, redownload.

If you are on a mac, AFAIK (this could have changed recently) the launcher only works with Java 6. As for how, there are some guides around here just use the search bar.
