Gregtech is your problem, it makes MC take a coredump in its pants if it detects that it's running inside a technic folder. I strongly recommend removing it, as Greg isn't even a good Modder at all, based on that. I mean, it's like he wants you to craft a single beacon but have to get 50 Nether Stars to do it.

The Adjustable Electric Engine (Forestry, I think,) is my ideal choice overall. Charge up a lapotron, drop the engine next to the quarry (or whatever,) and plug in the lapotron. Adjust as desired for speed--I enjoy the higher settings just to see the gantry whiz around.

Redstone input. Regular Xycraft lanterns behave like regular redstone lanterns, while inverted Xycraft lanterns stay on until they receive a redstone pulse.

Special note: Iron Plating do not work as a Multitank-compatable block. I think that might have been an oversight of Soaryn, but for future reference let's not. Inverse Lanterns do work, though. In fact, with a little forethought you can make an animal pen with a Multitank.
