You try a Provider pipe? It's that one that can pull resources when the machine it's attached to is empty. It can be configured to detect a depleted energy crystal, pull it out, and pull a full energy crystal from a storage chest. Experiment a little.

Kcb3, just plant all four basic trees around the apiaries. Keep breeding bees for an Industrious lineage and keep cutting out the odd foliage. I managed to get a Silver Lime that way. Oh, and plant a new species in the breeding area when you harvest a bunch of saplings off the parent tree.

I'm trying to remember the specific logic block, but you can wire up an AND gate and something that only powers on for a specific amount of time once to the timer and trigger it with a button. It'll keep timer activity down while you're around--I've used it in the past for a safe cobble generator in the past.

My suggestion is to wait this one out. RebelKeithy has taken over development of Metallurgy 3, and given the highly flexible nature of what the rewrite of the mod is supposed to do, it would solve much of those problems of yours. In the meantime, you can monkey around with the configuration and try to not need emeralds if you can help it. (I haven't seen much use of it beyond anchors.)

Uh... there are actual Mac virii out there. You want a virus-proof OS, go use BeOS. Or OS/2 Warp. Or any of the obscure non-UNIX OS. Of course, you're limited in what you run on it, but you'd be totally protected.
