gooberlious Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 so i am aware of the fact that this forum doesn't allow you to sign your name after a post (lame rule imo, but that is a different discussion, possibly for another time when i actually want to make that post) but are you allowed to talk in the third person? [tt]IE: goober is making an example of what he is talking about. [/tt] you can't reply to the rules post (why do forums do that? so annoying)
Jay? [tt]IE: goober is making an example of what he is talking about. [/tt] you can't reply to the rules post (why do forums do that? so annoying) It doesn't seem to be against the rules as such, but you may be probated anyways for being an awful poster. Seriously, why would you want to do that? are you descended from a long line of english queens? forums lock the rules thread to prevent arguments about the rules.
gooberlious Posted February 27, 2012 Author Posted February 27, 2012 if you knew me better you would know that goober talks in the thrid person alot...alot more then the first person (i wrote a story in the thrid person...that was fun) but thanks for the clarification...goober appreciates it.
xxmikegigsxx Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 this forum doesn't allow you to sign your name after a post (lame rule imo Why would you want to, or even need to sign your posts? It is just stupid and only people who have low self esteem put it because they want to try to show how awesome they are and are insecure that know one will know to look to the side to thank for posting something stupid.

Forum Administrators KakerMix Posted February 27, 2012 Forum Administrators Posted February 27, 2012 Nope, you can't. Its a special rule, just for you. Goober is not allowed to use third person.

Goober is not allowed to use third person. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_rights#Classification_of_human_rights i am going to assume that this server is based in the US (most of them these days are) pretty sure that there is something about being equal as the rest of the humans on planet earth? goober will use third person, unless it become a rule...which would just be mean and cruel

The fact that you tried to pass off your vain and pathetic attempt to be special as a human rights issue is offensive and denigrates all of the real human rights issues that actually exist. Fuck off.

Cheap Shot Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 What the hell is this even? My god they're coming out of the wood work to make our jobs creepy and uncomfortable.
Jay? Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 What the hell is this even? My god they're coming out of the wood work to make our jobs creepy and uncomfortable. That's why you should build your houses with stone brick.
jakj Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Oh, another one of these. ProTip: Freedom of speech applies only in public situations. You can stand on a street corner and talk about yourself in the third person all you want, but go into your local golf club and they might kick you out for possibly having some catching disease of stupid. Your freedoms and human rights apply only in the outside world. It has nothing to do with this being the Internet.

Your freedoms and human rights apply only in the outside world. It has nothing to do with this being the Internet. There is always debate raging on how freedom of speech and human rights applies to the internet... it is an utter nightmare to figure out. As of now I believe a sever is considered a private institution and subject to its own rules and only certain local, national, and international rules. Also the WHOIS says the server is located near Nobby Beach in Null, QLD (which is Queensland Australia), so not only is the server not in the US but it is also in Null and therefore does not even exist. (Yes I know the whois was privacy protected and the info is likely all false, but hay.) What the hell is this even? My god they're coming out of the wood work to make our jobs creepy and uncomfortable. Yep, that is the internet. Just when you thought it couldn't get anymore WTF it does.
Rupertcow Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Lol freedom of speech silly Americans think they can say what they want anywhere and if anyone has a problem with it you will take them to court. Try making a bomb joke in an airport I am sure the excuse " Freedom of speech and its my nature to make jokes" does not apply. You end up with fingers in your anal cavity. How would signing posts be necessary It says who posts it just to the left, unless you are using 640X480 resolution i dont see any reason to sign a post. Everyone's opinion can be different we have the rules for a guideline so we dont end up having a community and forum that no longer has control over its members such as the Minecraft forums. Could you imagine if everyone decided to not follow any of the rules because they felt that they dont like them. I could imagine telling your sports coach "I fell I need to hold the soccer ball with my hands because of freedom of speech and I will have the advantage" No you would receive penalties as you would here for not following the common rules. This thread made me laugh specially a rule just created for you and your other friends that could occupy your mind. It also indicates that most Americans think they are above any rule or law when its not the case at all. Its always a good reason to loose all faith in humanity and the current generation whom have no respect and think that the universe revolves around them. No offense to Americans this does not apply to everyone just most of you.
linkthegamer Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 (Words about stuff go here!) The signing thing has a different reason quoted for everyone, I did it to just add some silly text to it. But if the rule says don't do it I will obey. Others say they do it because it is a habit from email or somewhere else. As for insulting Americans, don't worry, we get it a lot. We are pretty lawsuit happy and with the rise of social media it does seem like kids are getting more and more of an ego because well... you can now accrue followers on sites, not friends or buddies but people listed as Followers, Viewers, or Subscribers. It makes them think they are their own internet star because 5,000 people watch them talk about Minecraft, ponies, and life in <small town here>. (The stuff posted by Cheap Shot would go here) Oh yay, I got quoted. ^_^
FrogBash Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 This is the silence before the storm?!? ???
Shini_Otoba Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 You can stand on a street corner and talk about yourself in the third person all you want' date=' but go into your local golf club and they might kick you out [/quote'] Yes, but you cannot, physically stop that person from talking you can only ask them to leave, if they refuse then you call the Police, Who do have the rights to physically remove them. You do not, your property or not. No, I call bullshit on this. Its not that simple, just because your in my house does not mean I can water board you, Human rights does not rely on your location or who owns said location. I call more bullshit yet again. Though the internet and human rights, especially that of freedom of speech laws on the internet is a murky subject. It does not matter where the server is held or what that servers role is. The only time server location matters is when it is performing a role that is Illegal in the country its hosting in, IE child pornography, piracy, terrorist activity.
xxmikegigsxx Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Actually until you are 18 you have no rights. Your parents basically own you so it is what they say goes. The same thing is true if you go to a private school, since you pay to go there you have to follow all there rules.
Naturam Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 wouldn't using the third person be freedom of speech... Except that this is not a public area and its not the government who are imposing rules on what you may say. You are free to say what you want here without federal prosecution but the people who run the forum are also free to ban you for it.
Cheap Shot Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 You have to remember people. The internet isn't a virtual American state. There are no apple pies and good ol' boys here. Just cold swift authority and Intolerance for morons and weird idiots.
Captain Man Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Goober, you're an odd one. Plus I bet this is in the wrong board. Personally, I don't see why he shouldn't be allowed to speak in third person. But whatevs. My troll senses are tingling though... a lot.
