  1. I didn't have to print them, but I do corporate training and we'd regularly have $2000+ printing bills for training manuals. It's pretty expensive to print and bind 30 copies of a 500 page training manual.
  2. I knew a guy who used to con people out of cash at gas stations by wearing a 'military uniform' (camo pants and green shirt) and claiming that his car had broken down, and that he needed cab money to get to the base or he'd be put on report. Didn't always work, but sometimes he'd clean up. Especially after 9/11 and during the Iraq war. He never actually claimed to be in the military, he just let people assume it. It didn't even look particularly like a uniform.
  3. Well, I wasn't familiar with that item. I have mostly played SSP on the dev builds, and I don't think it's in there. Is the ACT Mk2 in tekkit? That's what I'm playing now. If I can ditch buildcraft entirely, I would love to do so.
  4. I don't know that you can *force* the server to generate new land, but it will generate new terrain as it gets explored. So you can take the save file, unlock the maximum size in the config file, and have someone fly around and generate all the new land. You can also download the map file, load it up in a single player tekkit game, and do it offline, then re-upload the map file. There's also a couple of other fixes. I saw a post about a bukkit plugin that will do it, and there's also a script that will generate new land by resetting and changing spawn points. Try a google for "Minecraft Server set map size". That's what I did.
  5. Have somebody fly around and generate a bunch of land? Download the map offline and load up a single player tekkit game, and generate it that way, then put the save back on the server?
  6. You'll still need a wooden pipe though, since I don't think transposers or filters will pull the completed items out of the crafting table. It's a buildcraft machine, you need a buildcraft wooden pipe/engine to actually cause the crafting. Input items > Buffer directly next to crafter -> crafter -> wooden pipe/engine combo -> relay/other output item. I like relays because they will automatically dump anything that hits them back into your tube network. A regular chest is fine too though, if you're not adding more steps, or are pulling from the chest in some other way.
  7. The fix for this is to use a chest or an RP buffer instead of sending items straight into the crafting table. The crafting table can pull items from a chest, so you don't have to worry about the tube screwing up your recipe. I prefer buffers, since they won't allow a single item to fill the chest. Just make sure the output face of the buffer is touching your crafting table, and then use a wooden pipe to pull the items out straight into another chest or a relay to put them back into your tube network.
  8. It should be infinite, assuming the chunks are loaded at both ends. If you get too far away, either the source or destination will unload. Use a teleport tether or world anchor, assuming you have the permissions to do so.
  9. An EU meter should help, it measures EU /t, so you can just figure out how many packets it will take to make up that many EU. The packets should only be in MV:128, HV:512, and EV:2048. Above 2048, it will blow up anything that connects to it. A quick wiki search shows that even HV transformers will get exploded by anything abouve 2048. Also, each uranium cell outputs 10 EU/t * # of other cells touching it . for a maximum of 40 EU/T per cell, assuming each is being bordered by 4 others
  10. Yes, they are great fun. But I find that you can do almost everything that they do with Redpower machines and tubes. They don't handle automatic crafting, but for sorting and processing, they work just as well if not better. Plus they don't feel like 'magic', since you have to actually design the system to route correctly, instead of just letting the magic pipes do it for you.
  11. 1. Do not sign your posts. Please edit your post to remove that. Your name is already attached to the post, and the owners of this forum do not like additional signatures. 2. A Mass fabricator can take packets of up to 512 EU at a time. An MFSU outputs packets at 512 EU, so you should be fine. But you may need a HV transformer between your reactor and your MFSU, or you can blow it up. A reactor can output EV (extreme voltage), which is anything above 512EU packet size. Depending on your reactor, it can be up to 2400 EU per packet, which will blow up anything besides 4xHV cable and HV transformers.
  12. The mod pack has to be customized so that all the different Item and block ids work together and don't conflict. All the mods have to be tested so that they don't cause trouble for each other. Logistics pipes for SMP was just released a few days ago, and it's not fully ready to play yet, it's still being tested. You are allowed to go in and add mods to the pack yourself, if they're not in there yet, but you should not expect any support for that. Logistics pipes are part of the single player Technic version, but if you really have to have them on SMP, ask your server owner to try and add them manually. There's no guarantee that this will work though. Now that there is an SMP version available for logistics pipes, they probably will be added to Tekkit. But as I said before, there are LOTS of changes coming soon, and all of the mods are going to have to be updated because of the changes to the vanilla Minecraft program. I would not hold my breath waiting for any major changes to the official Tekkit pack any time soon.
  13. Logistics pipes are not SMP compatible yet. THere's an unofficial version that came out a couple of days ago, but I doubt we'll see an update to tekkit any time soon. THere are LOTS of changes in the works, and they JUST rolled out a stable version. Learn to use the mods that are available.
  14. Depending on your feelings about EE, a condenser targeting lava cells is a cheap and easy way to get free EU from geothermals.
  15. Is it Multiplayer or single player? If it's multiplayer, you might need to verify that redpower has block edit permissions. If you're using Factions, you have to grant redpower access to your faction territory. Redpower (and buildcraft) both use 'fake players' to make changes to the world. So you have to make sure that the [RedPower] player has build/edit rights to the world. The name includes the brackets. In SSP, I have no trouble at all with block breakers. I use them to get obsidian before I find diamond. For the cost of 4 iron, 2 redstone, 4 planks, and 10 cobble, I can get a netherportal up and running without having to make molds. It helps to carry a screwdriver and a lever along with you.
  16. FA-FD: If I recall correctly, this was to be a particle effect/border for NPC villages.
  17. Are you making sure that it's not staying powered? It needs a pulse, not a constant signal. one pulse = one block broken.
  18. press 'O'. You just turned off the display of NEI.
  19. IC2 wires will lose EU over distance, depending on the type of cable. HV4x cable will lose 1 EU per block traveled. Usually it's not tha big a deal, since it should only be used for HV applications. Try putting an HV transformer at either end of your wire, and using glass fiber cable instead. It has a much longer range with lower power loss. Your pump sounds like it's far enough away that the chunk is being unloaded. Use a Teleport Tether or World Anchor. If you have a long pipline, you'll have to place a few of them, enough to keep each chunk that the pipes pass through loaded. Or just put one at your base and one at your pump and use teleport pipes.
  20. I'd like to see a lot more bluetricity. We need even MORE incompatible power systems. Seriously though, can I get some other ways to generate it?
  21. Alchemical chest is just a big inventory. If you put a Talisman of Repair in it, it will repair damage on most items for free. (Including Thaumcraft magic items, and all tools. I keep my portable hole and crystal bell in it, as well as my screwdrivers/wrenches/crowbars when I'm not using them.)
  22. The server doesn't consider things moving in RP tubes to be entities, so they don't cause very much lag at all. Items moving in BC pipes are still entities, so can cause a lot more lag.
  23. Eloraam will probably make some elaborate multi-stage crafting process to create a Vacuum Deposition Chamber, so we can have lab-grown emeralds.
  24. I hear there's this awesome new game mode that is coming in the next update. It's called vanilla.
  25. 7.0.1 is pretty stable, and includes Equivalent Exchange. 7.1.0 I haven't tried because they've temporarily removed EE. I found really good results on 6.1.1 ( I think, the one for version 1.2.3), but that's missing all of the cool updates that MC added for 1.2.5
