I don't think it's a dispute between tekkit and IC2, so much as it is the fact that IndustrialCraft's development has been stagnant for the last 6 months. Even if a stable release were to come for 1.5.1/1.5.2, it's unlikely - at the current rate anyway - that we would see much more development/updating after that. The tekkit devs feel that IC2 is dead, and I would have to agree. The same line of reasoning can be applied to Red Power as well. Though RP2 has been dead for a while.

Pretty sure that metallurgy is responsible for taking over the textures for the tools/armor. You could crack open the metallurgy mod files and view the textures that way too if'n you wanted to.

Teleport Pipes (or similar sorting methods)
Calvariae replied to dwfmagik's topic in Tekkit Discussion
Yea I just played around with the pipes and couldn't get them to work either; it's either a bug or we're both missing something. Your best bet might be working out a system with either of the other two options I gave earlier. Edit: I should mention that I also tried the phased waterproof pipes, and those too didn't work for me. -
Teleport Pipes (or similar sorting methods)
Calvariae replied to dwfmagik's topic in Tekkit Discussion
Phased transport pipes, item tesseracts, or ender chests. Possibly others. Additional Buildcraft Pipes wiki page -
You're welcome. Glad I was able to help.

Check your 'C:\Users\Steeds\AppData\Roaming\.technic\tekkitmain\mods' folder to see if any mods are in there twice. Remove the duplicates and see if that helps. Edit: Remove the ones that aren't labeled 'Tekkit', or force Technic to reset the pack to 1.0.6. Either one should fix it.

Username and password wrong combo but i made sure they rae right
Calvariae replied to Trainopain's question in Technic Launcher
I don't know what this means. Which website? Mojang's? Technic's? What home screen? Are you talking about the technic launcher? You have to use a 'premium' minecraft login for the launcher. Premium just means that you actually bought the game from Mojang; simply being able to log in to their website doesn't mean your account is premium. -
Did you try disabling your antivirus/firewall or running the launcher as an admin?

when i lunch the new tekkit the fml comes up with an error
Calvariae replied to daftpunkfan101's topic in Tekkit Discussion
It sounds like your browser is trying to execute the .jar. Either change your browser's behavior or right-click and select 'Save Link As...' (or the equivalent thereof). -
I don't think it's an oversight, just a design decision. I haven't tried for a couple of days (started playing tekkit instead), but I wasn't able to find a way to get the different ores to spawn in different dimensions like I wanted to. I ended up just restricting Meutoite to The End. Long story short, 'Enchantability' allows for a higher probability of getting better enchantments (i.e. Slot IV, Sharpness IV, etc.). Desichalkos has an enchantability of 30, whereas diamond only has an enchantability of 10. Also a Desichalkos sword does just as much, if not more, damage than a diamond one, and has a higher durability. A fully enchanted sword would put the nano saber to shame, plus I like that it's rare and in limited quantities. And the armor just looks kickass. A full list of metallurgy stuff:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ApPr023YHYR0dEQ1X2JNOHgteUFRRGtFMlo0ZUQxN2c#gid=0 , though how accurate it is, I couldn't say.

Maybe the forge lexicon would allow you to transfer raw ore blocks from one mod to another in the same way that you can change ingots. Unfortunately, I don't think there's any way to automate this (or if it's even possible). Alternatively, you might be able to edit the metallurgy and thermal expansion configs to disallow generation of metallurgy silver/tin/copper/lead/whatever and bump up the TE ore rates. I'm not at my technic computer now, but I believe that TE configs are in /config/cofh and metallurgy are in /config/metallurgy. Should be fairly straightforward from there, but this change will only affect chunks that haven't been generated yet.

A few suggestions and improvements for the new tekkit
Calvariae replied to akhayo's topic in Tekkit Discussion
1) String is plentiful in abandoned mineshafts, just bring some shears and cut the cobwebs. 2) Void pipes automatically delete anything that goes into them, but if you can, you should look into Deep Storage: http://ftbwiki.org/Deep_Storage_Unit. 3) Energy tesseracts will allow you to send power over distances/dimensions. If you need a power sink, build an ME network: http://tekkitlite.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Applied_Energistics. -
I start a modpack but it don't let me to login
Calvariae replied to bbbbende's question in Technic Launcher
It requires a valid Minecraft username/password, i.e. the same credentials that you use for the vanilla launcher. -
Try the tekkitmain file, or click the little gear in the launcher below 'Tekkit' and click open folder.

Try setting a waypoint in Rei's Minimap, it should tell you the Dim ID at the top of the screen. There are probably other ways, but that's the only way I know how.

Not really related to minecraft, but I really wouldn't recommend having two anti-virus programs running at the same time. You can google search this yourself, but this PCWorld article sums it pretty succinctly.

[solved]Installing optifine results in grey screen?
Calvariae replied to Purplesmart's topic in Big Dig Discussion
Derp. The fact that you're using a 1.5.2 mod might be what's wrong. See this thread. Next time you have a problem, try searching around and seeing if other people are having the same problem/trying to do the same thing as you. Usually helps -
I looked around in the MCF thread and I noticed in the changelog section that 1.11.2 "Fixed weapons not consuming ammo when fired". Currently tekkit is using 1.11.1, but seeing as 1.11.2 is for 1.5.1 there is no reason why you (or anyone) couldn't update your (their) own client until the tekkit maintainers include the update officially. Depending on how much longer it takes for the rest of the mods to all get updated to 1.5.2, and considering this is not especially game breaking, implementing this fix will probably just be put off until the 1.5.2 release.
-
Of course there are going to be more planets (assuming the developers don't stop developing). The official MCF post states 11 new dimensions. Obviously the moon is 1 of those, plus the space station, so that leave 9 planets/moons left to be added, with more possibly added someday.

TEKKIT - question about included mods... Please help
Calvariae replied to Anthrax Clarke's topic in Tekkit Discussion
1) Go here 2) Read up on what mods are in the pack and what items are in those mods 3) ?????? 4) Don't ask questions that have been asked a million billion times already. EE2=/=EE3 and IC2 is no longer in tekkit -
Try disabling Norton/k9 and run it again. If that fails, then run as admin.
-
Well duh, IC2 isn't in tekkit anymore. This isn't a bug, it's just no longer a feature; to get rubber just chop down a rubber tree and smelt the raw rubber that drops. Easy peasy. Full list of mods and links to their pages: http://www.technicpack.net/tekkit

In Firefox, does the page 404? does it say access denied? Does it start to download and then fail? Does it say 'Download this file?' and then not actually download anything when you press 'okay'? Do you have an antivirus or firewall program? Are they disabled or enabled?
-
If you wanted to get fancy, comptercraft could do it too. But why aren't your engines hooked up to some sort of cooling (either a pump or an aqueous accumulator)? Shutting them down to conserve fuel/oil makes sense, but it's a simple matter to keep them cool.

There are so many things wrong with this thread. In fact, everything is wrong.
