Its fixed in the 1.0.4 update, its available through the launcher, if you cant wait for it to be pushed.
-
Is there any red alloy wire replacement?
Lostonexxx replied to nicohdemus's topic in Tekkit Discussion
Rednet cable from mine factory reloaded. -
If you manually select the 1.0.4 build in the technic launcher, this is fixed, and gregs lighting is re-added to the pack.

Hahahaha couldnt agree more.

If you are planning on using energy tesseracts to transport power around, then you probably wont care about the loss, over the convenience. Quarrying far away or in other dimensions is so much simpler when you just throw down the quarry and slap a couple of tesseracts on it (item/energy). I didnt know conduits had any loss over distance. I thought they just had a small internal buffer. Either way, its negligible when compared to the convenience of them.

So.. with lack of a proper powering system...

I guess I could have been more clear. By endgame, I meant they were an option for making a setup like the steves carts self susaining power supply. Its all about mass production in minecraft these days I guess I'd better jump into a test world and have a play with the mfr power systems. -
The fuel loader will accept power from any of the engines except redstone engine.

I'm so lost now. What's the best source of power?
Lostonexxx replied to Topster's topic in Tekkit Discussion
If you go to the lets play forum on the main page, I have a thread with some basic tutorials that you may find useful. Just look for (NEW) TEKKIT Tutorials. Ive covered most of the machinery from thermal expansions, so you should be able to get a good grasp of the basic power and machine systems in the pack. -

Stirling engines are terrible, you should upgrade to at least steam. And they are well worth the extra resources for an aqueous accumulator. If you are happy with moving pumps around in the nether, and pumping lava to the overwolrd via tesseracts, you will have all the power you need. However, a self sustaining steam engine setup can be made with a steves carts tree farm, some applied energistics, a powered furnace or two and some aqueous accumulators. Ive not used the mfr biofuel stuff before, but it looks like a good option for endgame power needs. -
Is it adjustable in the config? The thermal expansion wiki says 20mj/t and ftb wiki says 30/mj/t. Ive never tested it myself, I just hook it up to power and let it run.
-
The magma crucible can run at a max of 20mj/t so five magmatic engines(4mj/t) or ten steam engines (2mj/t). Early game, there isnt a MOST efficient way to power one. The most efficient way for you, will be whatever is the easiest or most abundant fuel source. Give it all the power you can, twiddle thumbs and wait. If you want to use the magma crucible for making lava, then use netherack instead of cobble. Unless there has been a nerf Im unaware of, then the lava produced from netherack will far outweigh the initial costs of producing it. So as long as you keep making netherack runs to the nether, you will always have a formidable powersupply. And magmatic power will see you through all the way to endgame.

Hello there fellow minecraftians and welcome to my thread. I am by no means an expert on all things minecraft, but Ive had quite a bit of experience playing with various mods over the last year or two. I saw the amount of people posting for help and guidance in all things power and machine related over in the new tekkit forum, and I wept with sadness at their plight (read,,,had a few rum n cokes, my server node was down, so i passed the time messing about with dxtory ). Ive cobbled together a few tutorials covering the majority of thermal expansions excellent machinery, and after watching them back, stone cold sober, they actually looked like they could help people. So Im uploading them as we speak to my youtube. http://www.youtube.com/user/lostonexxx I wasnt planning on doing a lets play, just uploading some fun stuff. But it seems my noobish server management leaves much to be desired, and Ive done the unspeakable and broken everything. So a fresh start is the only answer. The lets play will commence in the next day or two, but like most, I tend to play for hours at a time, so the episodes will be heavily edited to remove the dull stuff. And in the nature of the tutorials, I will attempt to impart wisdom upon you and guide you through the basics of the mods included in the pack. As Ive covered most of the items from thermal expansion already, I will endeavour to cover the few remaining items as well. Ive also recorded a walkthrough of dimensional doors and galacticraft, which I will edit into a somewhat cohesive order when Im not busy having fun playing the game myself I hope everyone is as excited as me about the new pack and finds some of my ramblings helpful. Catch you all later

You have to use conductive pipes to transport your energy, with a wooden conductive pipe attached to the engine itself. But I would highly recomend investing in redstone energy cells and conduits as they are far superior.

Were you in adventure mode?

computer craft computers/turtles won't turn on
Lostonexxx replied to subzero22's topic in Tekkit Discussion
Probably a stupid question, but have you given the turtles fuel? Also is it ssp or smp? I played on a server where turtles were craftable, but they had been prevented from running any programs by the server owner. -
You could always use illuminators, they are quite nice looking.

A couple of hoppers stacked on top, with the ores being fed in the top is the best way to go. At least until you are making a much larger sorting system.
-
The import bus from AE can do the job of a filter.
-
Please let this be so! Im at a loss without my project table. The new crafting mechanics are awesome, but this would be a gift from heaven lol.
-
Thermal expansion is the mod you need to put some research into. Jay? is quite correct, you need a pulverizer to double (with the chance of extra) your metals from ores. A pulverizer would need some form of MJ power (minecraft joules) I would recommend a steam engine to get started, which needs water and a solid fuel to run. For quick and fun stuff, look up the wiki for dimensional doors. The dungeon entrance things are pretty common, and you will have a blast raiding for loot. Dont worry about dying, as you will keep your inventory, but if you end up in limbo, just keep heading down until you find a dark pool black and jump in. (If you do die and have to leave via limbo, you may be tens of thousands of blocks from where you entered )

Sadly, there is currently a bug in the pack, which is preventing the compressor from working properly. It is documented and is being fixed for the next update, along with a couple of other bugs. Your only option is to cheat in filled tanks, or if smp, speak to an admin. They can check and see that it is a bug, you arent looking to cheat, and most would happily take your empties and replace with filled tanks. Btw, this is just info from another thread I read earlier. A quick search would find out any extra info you may need :)
-
Was there anything in particular you needed info on? People here are pretty helpful, or the individual mods wikis are much more helpful than modpack wikis.
-
Just a heads up guys. Normally in other modpacks and a modded vanilla game, the igneous extruder from Thermal expansion, uses a very small amount of lava to create smoothstone. The cobblestone is free and doesnt use anything. But its not using up any lava at the moment to produce smoothstone either. Not sure if its a bug, or whether the config is set like that for a reason. Point made, feel free to correct me :)

Beds in overworld only Im afraid Although, can be used as cheap tnt in a pinch lol.
