  1. Yes, those are some applications you can look into. Keep in mind that the current Tekkit is ancient and still has ComputerCraft 1.5. Version 1.6 had some (major?) changes, so maybe you want to wait for the new Tekkit to be released before really getting into CC stuff (assuming that IskanDar includes CC, but that should be safe to assume). The 1.2.10 beta does have CC 1.6, so that one might be a compromise for the time being.
  2. I never tried it myself, but I remember reading somewhere that this generator is broken and doesn't work at all.
  3. Aren't Redstone Energy Cells capped at 2000 RF/t? The Redstone Conduits do 10000 RF/t, but you need Resonant Cells to get that rate.
  4. I don't know RFCC, but I presume it's a ComputerCraft thing. If so, keep in mind that stable Tekkit is stuck with CC 1.5x. Most current debate assumes that you are running CC 1.6. As for flow rates in current Tekkit, the easiest way to control them is buffer Energy Cells with limited output rates. Take Laser Drill management as an example: It should be possible to fully power two Laser Drill Prechargers with one Resonant Energy Cell capped at 5000 RF/t. Use separate Conduit paths to the Prechargers and attach them to different sides of the Cell, so they both carry those 5000 RF/t. It should be sustainable because the input caps at 10000 RF/t. Prechargers cannot use more than 5000 RF/t, but they will gladly suck any surplus amount and just waste it. That is why this is a classic application of flow management.
  5. +1 for dynamic DNS resolvers. Using No-IP for my own server. Although it does introduce the problem of public availability, which would usually not apply for Hamachi. For a small friends-only server, this can easily be solved by using a whitelist, of course. But still, one more thing to worry about.
  6. It's not just opening ports, which is a firewall thing, but also forwarding them from the router to the machine hosting the server. May also be necessary to open the ports on both the router and the server, depending on configuration. Running a dedicated server is not hard by regular admin standards, but can still be daunting for newbies. So not universally recommended, unless you volunteer to babysit all those newbies. Also, this: Yes, that will get your server going with the default amount of RAM (usually not enough) and a 50% chance of running a vanilla server on account of using the wrong of the two JAR files. Use the launch script, or suffer the consequences for not doing so.
  7. Keep in mind that Hamachi only extends your local network via VPN. This can be useful for the singleplayer sharing, but a dedicated server does not profit much from it, imo.
  8. I doubt that. Even in BR 0.34, Gelid Cryotheum was the best coolant, closely followed by Resonant Ender, with Destabilized Redstone some way behind. Of course there will be scenarios especially in smaller setups where Cryo is overkill and cannot really improve things. Best coolant means best heat transfer, i.e. smallest gap between core and casing heat, which will result in higher efficiency, which in turn will yield more power for the same amount of fuel. Btw, I doubt that Tekkit will get updated at all. It will rather be frozen in carbonite (or preserving material of your choice), much like Tekkit Classic was. The new modpack will be entirely different, worlds will not be transferable (at least not without major effort) and everybody will have to start over. Coincidentally, BigReactors is one of the few mods that look quite similar on 1.7.10. This is why I doubt that the simulation will be much different for either version.
  9. The Minecraft Wiki is the best resource for questions about vanilla. Here is what it says about Spawners:
  10. There is no block called "coolant". Rather, the reactor will accept various mineral blocks or liquids as coolants. The easiest and cheapest way is placing a few buckets of Destabilized Redstone or (if you can spare it) Resonant Ender at the top layer of the reactor, before you close the roof. Flowing blocks will count just as well as source blocks, so placing only the top layer is the economic way. You could of course just use a Floodgate and fill all empty space up with a coolant, if you have enough of it.
  11. The reactor is an alternative to using Dynamos. You could use a reactor with a coolant port to produce steam and pipe it into Steam Dynamos. But that is not very efficient, as it is really meant to be used in Turbines instead (another multi-block structure from the same mod). Turbines are rather late-game, because you need to produce enough Cyanite before you can make the parts (which is only produced by reactors in the first place).
  12. That button is in the ingame menu. In singleplayer, you can just open the menu and choose "open game to LAN". This will make the internal server accept other players joining via local network. More work is required if you want them also to connect via Internet, and if you plan on scaling up, maybe you will need a dedicated server. Which is more complicated.
  13. FTB has that, too. I remember being able to disable and even add mods in FTB Monster. From the FTB launcher. The downside was that you couldn't really track your changes, so you needed to exercise some caution there.
  14. The only part I can spot right now that is against forum rules is you signing your post. Your name is displayed anyway, so no need for that. As for the topic, this is a peculiar time to start with new Tekkit videos. The modpack is ancient right now and stuck in 1.6.4, where nobody should invest resources any more. The Technic team found a mew maintainer for Tekkit in Iskandar, although he stated that he will first work on Hexxit before a modernized Tekkit is made. I suggest you wait for this before you invest time and energy. Also note that Fission and Fusion reactors are from a deprecated mod that doesn't work very well as is, and looks very different in its new iteration (Resonant Induction). You are showcasing dinosaurs here. P.S.: Apart from that, there is a forum section dedicated to linking Youtube videos like yours.
  15. Even easier, put a roof on top of the Smeltery and the mob-dropping should stop - which is usually the reason for the blood. The Controller will soak up anything that falls into the chamber, but with a solid roof, random items should not appear in there. The multi-block does not require a roof, but it won't mind one either.
  16. I did link you to my >starter guide, which includes the recipe for a safe 4x4x4 reactor (frame size) that outputs 960 RF/t at 70% Control Rod setting.
  17. Combustion Engines are practically Stone Age equipment. Use Thermal Expansion's Dynamos and attach them via Conduits (buffer Energy Cell recommended, but the last piece connecting to the Quarry needs to be a Conduit). A Quarry has a variable power intake, but will peak at about 800 RF/t. That's 10 Dynamos of either flavour, or maybe one or two less if you have an Energy Cell buffering the power. Peak draw is not reached very often. Of course, a reactor is way more efficient. I included the recipe for a simple one in my >starter guide (point 17). My design gets you 960 RF/t at the recommended setting, so you will have enough for that Quarry and still some to spare. Either way, you need Redstone Energy Conduits to carry all the power. Leadstone only carries 80 RF/t and Hardened ones max out at 400 RF/t.
  18. Tekkit has just one maintainer, which has changed very recently. The rest are people dealing with the launcher, the forums and of course the users. Apart from that, if you really want somebody to work for you, then you need to describe the job properly. All you did was imply urgency, which seems very unprofessional. Of course nobody will bite, except maybe some kids who have no idea (and probably not the required skills either).
  19. If that is the way you play it, you could just as well have a half-block floor. Mobs won't spawn on half blocks if they occupy the lower half of the block. No proper surface for them to spawn on.
  20. Yes, this is intentional from the side of the Galacticraft author. To prevent mob spawning, I recommend a Magnum Torch from Extra Utilities. Clever use of Mob Essence can help against the darkness itself, I think. If you touch it, you'll have a 60-second nightvision buff that should work.
  21. If you want to migrate a world between modded Minecraft major versions, you usually need a migration tool - and there will still be much loss even if things go smoothly. I imagine 1.6.4>1.7.10 will be no exception. Only do that if you are heavily invested into an existing world. Part of the new version charm is learning the new ways of progress from scratch. If you know your way around MCEdit and are willing to tinker, maybe you could do what the Yogscast did and add the old world(s) as additional Mystcraft Ages. But keep in mind that this is likely very difficult to do and requires a bit (or a lot?) of coding knowledge. Concerning Tekkit, you are in luck. It seems that the Technic crew recruited Iskandar to make "Tekkit 2". The guy previously did the Crash Landing hardcore pack. As hinted before, you can follow such things quite well if you look at bochen's news thread.
  22. While we are talking symptoms, OptiFine also causes an unholy amount of texture flickering here on Thermal Expansion machines. I suspect that the way TE handles its visual I/O overlay (the coloured squares/corners) interferes with rendering optimizations.
  23. If you just want to know how to do something in a mod, or which mod is useful for a given task, feel free to ask that here. Tekkit Discussion is for gameplay-related topics after all. If you have questions that only the mod author(s) can answer, better head over to Minecraftforum or wherever they are lurking. Keep in mind, though, that Tekkit is an outdated modpack and most mod authors have either quit or moved on to Minecraft 1.7 by now.
  24. And if you want to know what's going on currently, you go here. Tekkit is so far behind now that in a relativistic universe, it might actually be really far ahead.
  25. Not sure what you are asking for. OptiFine used to be in Tekkit Classic (and probably still is), but it is not part of Tekkit Main. You can add it yourself and it should work, but it is known to not play too well with Thermal Expansion (CoFHCore, to be precise - may be less of a problem in the old build still used in Tekkit). It should also be noted that in a large modpack, OptiFine usually has negligible effect on performance. It does offer a lot of graphics settings that may improve your game in some aspects, but it may just as well break things. And for the record, 30fps is actually not all that bad in modded Minecraft. Never forget that this is running on an abstract programming language that was designed to control fridges and toasters, among other things. Yes, I am exaggerating.
