  1. Please take all issues to the tracker. Also, don't spill logs into posts, that's what Pastebin is for. In this case, however, you should just read this ticket and follow instructions there.
  2. Keep in mind that the mod will reappear when you update, reinstall or reset the modpack, since it is part of Tekkit.
  3. Please take all issues to the tracker. You may first want to check if you are simply running an incompatible Java version, as described here.
  4. No. Why are you asking? I have never used ComputerCraft. It's a toy for the small subset of modded Minecraft players that have coding knowledge, and I am not part of that. As for Redstone In Motion, I never liked it because it breaks some basic game principles, and very obviously so.
  5. Yes, and that is why I pointed you at the Natura mod with the Giant Redwoods. The ones that each consist of 50+ stacks of logs, where the trunk is nearly wide enough at the base to fill an entire chunk. Unfortunately, Natura is not in Tekkit. >Here is a picture.
  6. You're right, it seems like Oracle is really pushing people towards Java 8 now. Unfortunately, we still don't have a Tekkit version with the hotfix.
  7. What AetherPirate said will usually work, but you could simply delete the dimensions added by DDoors. Make a backup before attempting this kind of operation, in case you cut away too much. And next time, take it to the tracker.
  8. I'm not too sure if you can actually grow the huge version without config changes. The Sacred saplings drop occasionally from normal rubber trees (autofarms usually get quite a lot over time), but it may be that the dungeon-chest-generated sapling has another sub-ID and is the only one that can actually grow the giant one. In the 1.7 MFR version, those have been renamed Mega Rubber Tree Sapling, probably for clarity. So yes, you probably need to find one of the "special" Sacred saplings or spawn it in with NEI. And I really recommend you make a world backup before trying to grow that thing. May make your world unplayable. If you want a giant tree base, maybe you should rather look for a modpack that has the Natura mod with its Giant Redwoods. Not quite as insane as the Sacred Rubber, and those are actually meant to house player bases. You can even craft a stealth door from the bark blocks.
  9. Please take all issues to the tracker. I also recommend you follow tracker rules and include >crash logs, so we have a chance to find the source of your problem.
  10. Since everything centers on Thermal Expansion in Tekkit Main, TE's Energy Cells are the only power storage. They come in four tiers: Leadstone: saves 400.000 RF, max in/out is 80 RF/t Hardened: saves 2.000.000 RF, max in/out is 400 RF/t Redstone: saves 10.000.000 RF, max in/out is 2.000 RF/t Resonant: saves 50.000.000 RF, max in/out is 10.000 RF/t 10 RF equals 1 MJ. The Conduits notably only have three tiers, with Redstone already carrying the the maximum 10.000 RF/t. Quarry power draw differs depending on what it is currently doing, but it peaks at around 800-900 RF/t, I think. So you can only power it halfway with Hardened gear, unless you attach two separate Hardened Energy Cells and their respective Conduits.
  11. Remote MJ, no. Remote RF, yes. There is no EU in Tekkit any more, and good riddance. Tesseracts are the go-to solution for intra-dimensional transport of items, fluids and energy, and this energy will be Redstone Flux (RF). Luckily for you, Thermal Expansion energy conduits will output RF or MJ as needed (conversion happens automatically), so you can attach your old MJ-using machines just fine to an RF network. This means you can just plonk a Tesseract on top of your Quarry, but you will have to run at least one piece of conduit between the two. Smart players like to put the Tesseract literally on top of the Quarry, place two pieces of conduit on the side to connect them, and place a buffer chest directly adjacent to the other end of the Tesseract connection.
  12. Please take all issues to the tracker. You also need to describe your problem properly, or nobody will be able to help you. There is a template to help you structure your problem.
  13. I included a good starting setup in my >newbie guide, but intentionally made it so small that it will fall short eventually. That's what I like about BigReactors. It's a very fine example of a mod that scales with your progress. Some may scoff at it for being more simple and user-friendly than old IC2 nuclear parts or Atomic Science, but it does become a challenge to really get a good setup and balance out your Turbines later on. You need not worry about the development of the mod. ErogenousBeef seems commited to further refine it, and he has done a very fine job already.
  14. Consider quarrying the Nether. You won't have to deal with oil there, but you need to fill the pit with a liquid that can deal with the occasional lava blocks. Gelid Cryotheum works, but I hear that Destabilized Redstone does the job just as well, with less side effects. Most Nether ores can be smelted to obtain regular versions, some can be pulverized directly. Note that this is also the easiest way to get Cinnabar - just smelt Nether Redstone and Pulverize the regular Redstone Ore that comes out of this.
  15. Not sure what you are looking for. The supported Minecraft version is not tied to the launcher version. The current (old) launcher is able to run just about any Minecraft version up to 1.7.10 and modpacks based on it, while at the same time allowing things as old as Tekkit Classic (based on 1.2.5) to work. The new launcher is still in beta, but it will mostly be an optimized and better-designed version, delivering what is already delivered today, but in more efficient ways. You won't need that one yet. Since this is all Java software, you should be able to run it fine as long you have a working Java runtime installed. Take note that you need Java 7 for some packs, including Tekkit, right now. Read here about the reasons, and how to work around it if you have to use Java 8.
  16. Well, I can accept that mod authors try to bring a bit of diversity back and encourage users to seek alternative power solutions or at least delve into the details of a power solution to optimize it. I find it laudable when a "stupidly simple" passive Yellorium reactor is not enough to power everything and be its own fuel supply, but building a good Turbine setup allows you to close the gap.
  17. If you don't need the oil, displacing it with Sand or Gravel will work just as it works with water. The Quarry will take a while, but it will eventually notice the new blocks and move back to remove them.
  18. This is Galacticraft oil, which forms mostly underground. Buildcraft oil almost exclusively forms in desert and ocean biomes and tends to have surface geysers, you've probably seen them. It may be possible to disable Galacticraft oil in config and rely on the Buildcraft version entirely. You can do that when in singleplayer or on a server you have control over. The server and all clients must have matching settings in this case. You will also lose custom settings like this when upgrading the modpack via launcher, so you need to reapply them. But it's possible to do that. Also note that those changes only apply to newly generated chunks.
  19. Please take all issues to the tracker. This being a Mac, I guess you are being forced to use Java 8. Refer to this ticket for an explanation and the solution to that. You need to use the hotfix if you cannot downgrade from Java 8. If it's not that, you need to make your own ticket on the tracker. Also fetch >crash logs to allow for analysis.
  20. I don't know where you got that link from, but it's the old format and doesn't work. Cick it and you will see that it produces a 404 error. Install the Dropbox client on your computer and fetch a working link for the file from there. If you don't know how to do that, you should learn how to Dropbox.
  21. Agreed on most points. There is one more thing: If the Laser Drill breaks its own price/reward ratio regarding power demand and supply, a considerable number of people won't adapt their setups, but simply switch to other solutions. Mekanism's Digital Miner comes to mind. I think it's alright for MFR to nerf Yellorite yield when it's still possible for players to achieve self-sustenance with clever design. If that is not possible, the nerf will just make the Laser Drill irrelevant for many. It will also slow down servers. Why? A Yellorium reactor is rather low-lag and frugal on server ticks for the power it provides. The alternatives are mostly massive racks of lower-grade power solutions, think Coal plants with the accompanying Charcoal production chain. If most players switch to something like that, server loads will be quite a bit higher. Of course, this is all not about current Tekkit, which has neither the nerf nor the other tech mods to make this relevant.
  22. I think you used the old link format for the Dropbox link - they have a new one now, it always begins with h**ps://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/. The desktop client creates this link reliably, but the web interface can sometimes derp and throw you the wrong one. Apart from that, please refer to Platform Pagoda for help with your custom pack. Even if 99% of it is Tekkit, a modified installation is a custom pack and not considered Tekkit any more. Good luck getting it to work, though.
  23. Depends. If you're running a very efficient active reactor (optimal Turbine design) and take measures to spread the power intelligently, 0.25% might actually be enough. One trick is to limit each Laser Drill Precharger's intake to exactly 5000 RF/t with a buffer energy cell or other eligible method. Keep in mind that they will eat a lot more for no gain if you don't match that. Another measure would be recuperating half your waste by converting to Blutonium. I'm not sure, but I guess if you build really efficient, that Laser Drill might provide just enough Yellorite to keep things rolling even with the new setting.
  24. Trolling or misunderstanding. If you are interested in optimized launchers, try the new Technic launcher >beta. I hear it has been rewritten entirely and should be more efficient overall.
  25. Please take all issues to the tracker. Check first if you have this common Java issue and follow the instructions in the ticket if you do (either of the solutions). Otherwise, you need to open your own ticket.
