Well, well, well,  The Hexplore-It domain and place I host the files are expiring soon. So it looks like Hexplore-It will be going offline soon.

It blows my mind that this pack is still being downloaded and played on a daily basis.

To date, since I have started tracking anyway, Hexplore-it has been played for 1,602,909 HOURS (and counting) across the world. Crazy!

Thanks again everyone for the years of fun. I will post if/when we go offline for good.

I have seen interest in solder auto-generating changelogs and also saw so many poor changelogs on the platform, that's why I wrote a little app. It just takes your existing solder pack and provides you with a full changelog between any two versions you wish.
http://isigiel.github.io/changelogger/ That's where you can try it out. Just paste any platform-api link which you can find here
    For modpackers:
To preload your pack use a link like the following one, stuff in [] is optional, you can also just preload you url.
http://isigiel.github.io/changelogger/#/?url=<your api url>[&from=<build that's the changelogs base>&to=<build to compare to>] I'm always open for suggestions and feedback
    For the better changelog!

The same location on the Wiki which provides the download links also mentions the beta/dev builds and provides a link: http://ci.tterrag.com/job/EnderIO/ Directly from your log file: java.lang.IllegalStateException: OpenModsLib not present, not yet loaded or too old (needs at least 0.7.1) You seem to have found an ancient version of OpenModsLib but have the most recent OpenBlocks. Current OpenModsLib is 0.7.3. You should be using the latest Chisel 2 release, not the ancient Chisel 1. Your Enhanced Portals is fatally out of date. 3.0.12 is current. Your Inventory Tweaks mod is from an illegitimate source. Your OptiFine is fatally out of date. Your Thaumic Exploration is very out of date. Where are you even finding these ancient versions of the mods? The download link for Thaumic Exploration 1.7.10 from the MCF forum has the latest build. You have Tinkers' Construct but not the required dependency mod Mantle (0.3.2). Your MalisisCore is fatally out of date and mismatched with MalisisDoors. Careful attention must be paid to the dates and versions of mods. My hope is that as I make suggestions (as I did earlier in this thread) you learn a few things about the proper assembly of a pack and can then turn a critical eye at the entire contents. By the third iteration of my analysis we shouldn't be at a point where I am having to enumerate every mod and version number which needs addressed. Attention to detail is critical in this and nearly every other technical endeavor you embark upon.

MS announced today that they took a huge write-down on their Nokia puchase.  It looks like windows phone is dying so the Win10 version is probably just to keep minecraft alive on whatever microsoft portable devices still exist 5 years from now.  Also for really young users, hop-in/hop-out 8-player SMP without a server that's compatible with PE multiplayer is a really great feature.

Jon_ reacted to plowmanplow in Modpack Testing
I do a fair amount of modpack testing and debugging, typically in threads posted to this forum. I thought I could demystify the process by sharing some of the steps and tools I use during an evaulation.

    Testing Environment for Monolithic packs:
I keep a "custompacks" folder on one of my drives and made a link to it in Windows Explorer's Favorites to make it easy to navigate into. When someone requests assistance with a pack I copy their API URL (this is why I always ask for it) and paste it into a custom page I maintain for displaying pack metadata (feel free to use it or see what yours looks like: http://www.circlecraft.info/platform ). If the pack download link is valid I save it to custompacks in a subfolder titled as the username of the person requesting assistance. I name the ZIP file the same as the platform (i.e. slug-version.zip). Keeping the version in the filename is important because it permits me to notice when someone is changing their pack contents but not the version number. I then look through the pack to make sure everything looks "normal". Does the pack have the correct modpack.jar file (version, name, contents, etc.)? Does the pack have config files? Are the mods named "correctly" (not renamed, don't look like they came from content scraping sites, etc.)? Do the well known standards (ChickenBones, CoFH, Immibis', etc.) have all their dependencies? Are the mod versions current? I use my BareBonesPack (BBP) ( http://www.technicpack.net/modpack/barebonespack.271497 ) for testing monolithic modpacks (packs which are one big ZIP file download). This allows me to easily deploy a base platform for testing which I know has a working Forge environment. For a new test I will reset the BBP (using this script: http://www.circlecraft.info/bbp/ ) and select the correct version of Forge. I will then copy in the pack's required folders (config, mods, etc.). I then try to launch the BBP. If the pack crashes I will look at the crash report and ForgeModLoader logs (FML logs are in the root folder of the pack for MC <= 1.6.4 and in the /logs/ subfolder for MC >= 1.7.2) to get an idea about what may be causing the crash. This is sometimes quite clear (missing dependency mods, ID conflicts) but sometimes requires reading through Java errors/exceptions. Unless there are dozens of block ID conflicts, or the mods folder is a hot steaming mess I will usually do what is required to get the pack started (update mods, fix dependencies, fix conflicts, etc.) so I can report on that. If the pack launches successfully the first step is to go through the entire FML log and look for glaring issues. Things like mods which completely fail to load (errors reported), item ID conflicts (if MC <= 1.6.4), errors other than missing textures and failures to contact update checkers. I will then try to create an SSP world with the correct world type (like Biomes O' Plenty, etc.) and do some quick checks. Does NEI/Waila/etc. show up? Are there any obviously missing item textures (look through NEI pages)? Do the cornerstone mods allow block placement? Can I successfully change dimensions? Does the pack use an expected amount of RAM/CPU? At this point I will usually write up my findings. Many of you have probably seen them, but here's an example: Testing Environment for Solder packs:
It is usually easiest to just add packs to my Launcher when they are managed by Solder. However, I do look around a bit first. My Platform metadata page will provide a link to the direct API URL for the Solder modpack. I will follow this to make sure that things look "normal". I will append the latest version number (i.e. if the latest version is 3.2 I would append "/3.2" without quotes) and make sure that a full mod list shows up. I will usually hit one of the direct mod URLs to make sure the web server is feeding things correctly. Once the pack finishes installing to the Launcher I will examine the pack folder to ensure all the folders look correct (that the modpack.jar in /bin/ is correct, that the config files exist, that the contents of the /cache/modname-version.zip look correct) and perform most of the steps from the Monolithic section above. If everything looks good I will attemp to launch the pack. The analysis steps from here on mirror those from the Monolithic section above except that I would be working in the current pack's folder instead of inside the BBP. Testing Environment for Servers:
The first step for server assistance requests is always to do an analysis of the client modpack. If the above steps yield a fully working pack I will continue with the server. I keep a Servers folder in my custompacks folder with pre-built servers (both Forge and MCPC+/Cauldron) for all versions of MC. I will make a new folder for the test server, copy in the required top level folders from the pack (/config, /mods, etc.) then copy in one of these pre-built servers. I then make a new folder in the server folder called client_only and move all the client only mods (minimap, visual animations, etc.) from the server's /mods/ folder. Which mods these are is mostly learned by research and trial/error. However, most (decent) mod authors will state that their mods are client only when relevant (like Damage Indicators). I then launch the server using the Forge JAR as the base. If it starts correctly I will then connect from the client and verify that things are working as expected. If the person requesting assistance has provided crash reports or a test which makes the server crash I will attempt to duplicate that and analyze the results if it does indeed crash. Once everything is working as expected I will report my findings about the client pack, which client only mods must be removed from the server (sometimes mods should work in SMP but don't because they are poorly coded), and any other "gotchas" required to get the server up and running.

Jon_ reacted to Zlepper in Modpack Helper | Pack modpacks | Check permissions | Upload to web | Update Solder Automatically
    A little background story first:
I have been hosting packs and servers for the last few years. A few years ago Technic added support for allowing us to host custom modpacks. This was  awesome and I went ahead almost the moment it happened. This was still the time of big and heavy zip files.
Then came along Solder. Solder helped us destributing files one at a time.
It took me almost a year to get it working from when I started attempting to use it. I did however get it working, back in June I think it was.
All was well, though I quite quickly discovered that packing files for Solder was quite the hasle.
So being the enormous lazy guy I am I sat down one Tuesday and made a script that could pack all the files for me.
Nice i thought, the only problem was that I had to enter modname, modversion and minecraft version for each and every mod... And having a 150 files modpack that certainly wasn't boring
So I had what the h**k and turned it into an actual program, that could figure out most of the important stuff like name, version and mcversion.
Since then I added quite a few extra things I thought was necesarry, like only packing updated mods, checking permissions, including forge and configs.
    So enough with the story:

    Solder Helper
The result of all this is something I thought others could make use of, so that's why I decided to share it with you guys here, since i'm likely not the only one who has been pretty bored with updating.

    Core features:
Create packs for either Solder or just normal zip packs. Create FTB Packs and get permission lists Include any forge version you wishes, just choose from the application. Include configs Check permissions if you wishes so (Highly encouraged) Both private and public. Get permission list in a nice text format Get a list nice and simple list of all packed mods Runs on both Linux and Windows Get modlist Include unarchieved mods Include stuff like the script folder from Minetweaker Automatically upload Solder Files to an FTP host Automatically update your modpacks on your solder install Automatically upload Solder Files to Amazon S3 services With all the improvement it's shouldn't take more than a minute to pack all your files for distribution.
The program is OpenSource and can be found on github.

For Windows the installer can be found here. This installer also included an autoupdater for when I add additional features.
This uses about 10 MB of space total.

For Linux just do the following and you can find the program in your home directory:
curl https://raw.githubusercontent.com/zlepper/TechnicSolderHelper/master/TechnicSolderHelper/install.sh | bash It can be done from from anywhere, though you have to use the terminal, then the installer script takes care of the rest.
WARNING: It will use quite a lot extra space, since it requires mono to be installed, about 250 MB. However the installation of mono is included in the script.
To run the program just navigate into the install directory and look for the file called "Run SolderHelper.sh"
To update it just run the "update.sh" file.

    Planned features:
Support for FTB packs Added Support for AT Launcher packs Autoupload to FTP servers Added Autoupdate of the actual Technic Solder installs, so you don't have to enter versions each time. Added Creation of a modlist you can paste in places like Technic ads Added Creation of a complete permissionlist. Added (Would be nice if we could format things in the pack configs, but that's for another time) Bugs
I expect a few bugs here and there. If you happen to stumble into any the program will create a crash report on your desktop. If you could report the issue on github and include the crashlog, and what you were doing I would be very grateful, and will try to fix issues ASAP.
There shouldn't be any dangerous bugs, but incase anything goes wrong I'm not responsible for it.
    Warning:
If you decide to use the mysql function of the program, be warned: You have to open a port to your MySQL server, which is a major security risk.
It is recommended you create an ssh tunnel to connect to the remote server:
ssh -L 3306:hostname:3306 [email protected] The syntax is
ssh -L <localport>:hostname:<remoteport> <username>@<servername> The you can point Modpack Helper to localhost and everything should work securely.

If you have a question to ask, just write in this thread, or find me on the Technic Discord Server.

Jon_ reacted to plowmanplow in Technic Launcher fails to setup client libraries and crashes for MC1.8 Forge 1.8-Forge11.14.0.1245
Yes, there are libraries missing, or not included in the class path. No, just downloading the libraries does not fix the problem. After a bit of messing around it looks like the list of libraries in the version.json file included with the universal Forge builds for 1.8 does not include:

They need to be included in the class path. Adding the following to the version.json file in the modpack.jar (Forge universal JAR) adds them to the class path and downloads them if they aren't there:
        {       "name": "org.apache.logging.log4j:log4j-api:2.0-beta9"     },     {       "name": "org.apache.logging.log4j:log4j-core:2.0-beta9"     },     {       "name": "com.google.guava:guava:17.0"     },     {       "name": "com.mojang:authlib:1.5.17"     },     {       "name": "com.google.code.gson:gson:2.2.4"     },     {       "name": "org.lwjgl.lwjgl:lwjgl:2.9.1"     },     {       "name": "org.lwjgl.lwjgl:lwjgl_util:2.9.1"     },     {       "name": "org.lwjgl.lwjgl:lwjgl-platform:2.9.1",       "natives": {         "linux": "natives-linux",         "windows": "natives-windows",         "osx": "natives-osx"       },       "extract": {         "exclude": [           "META-INF/"         ]       }     },     {       "name": "org.apache.commons:commons-lang3:3.3.2"     },     {       "name": "org.apache.commons:commons-compress:1.8.1"     },     {       "name": "commons-io:commons-io:2.4"     },     {       "name": "io.netty:netty-all:4.0.15.Final"     },     {       "name": "net.sf.trove4j:trove4j:3.0.3"     },     {       "name": "com.paulscode:codecjorbis:20101023"     },     {       "name": "com.paulscode:codecwav:20101023"     },     {       "name": "com.paulscode:libraryjavasound:20101123"     },     {       "name": "com.paulscode:librarylwjglopenal:20100824"     },     {       "name": "com.paulscode:soundsystem:20120107"     },     {       "name": "com.ibm.icu:icu4j-core-mojang:51.2"     },     {       "name": "java3d:vecmath:1.5.2"     } After making this change (now included in the BareBonesPack) the launcher starts up Forge 1.8 successfully.

Edit: I must have gotten some wires crossed when I built this the first time. I obviously missed most of the libraries. Should be fixed now.
