Right click the new launcher and run as admin. Don't use the old launcher. It is not supported anymore and probably doesn't work with Platform.

It's not the launcher, its just the growing pains of how popular platform is. We're working on it.

Who is "we" ?

First off, you didn't read our forums rules (don't sign your posts), or any of the stickies at the top of this section. Second off, what? Ok. The updating to 1.5 issue makes no sense. Now that you have the new launcher, the directory it installs to is .technic not .techniclauncher, so deleting the .techniclauncher folder would do nothing.

Maybe make sure no empty space has gotten in anywhere? Like a space at the end or start? For Smartoad I'm not sure. The hack/mine thing is curious because it rings a bell for me. I'll ask about it.

You may have been using a beta build instead of using the stable. Build 209 was broken and removed. I had the same (probably) issue tonight. Just back up your .technic folder, delete and redownload the launcher. Also in the future, use the bug report section. You haven't provided the proper information so I cant even say if this is the right solution or not.

No I was not excited for the new Simcity. EA's stock value dropping 40% since the start of this year was pretty thrilling though.

Oh yeah. For sure tell everyone to check "Increase PermGen Size" in the Launcher options. That will help.

One of the sad truths is that Minecraft is so unoptimized and buggy that 32 bit systems can barely play it. 2GB is the most I would ever tell people to allocate (due to Minecraft not being able to handle allocating lots of ram because of not being able to handle garbage data collection dumps). Even with that, on 32 bit it will run like garbage with stuttering and crashes. I'll ask about a 1.5 option but I don't know how much it will help honestly. Maybe it might make crashes less frequent.

Use a really big bandaid and maybe you will get lucky.

Of course, easily. Just install tekkit, go to your pack directory (.technic by default) and make a copy of the tekkit folder. Here is a guide on making packs with Platform. http://www.technicpack.net/article/view/building-your-own-modpack.7 Just download the extra mods you want to add to tekkit, slap them in according to the tutorial, zip it up and upload it to the internet as a download, add the download link to the platform as a custom pack, set it to private, and boom personal pack. You can even put your own icon and background art in that will appear in the launcher.

Can you submit a bug report here? http://forums.technicpack.net/forums/technic-launcher-bugs-problems.10/ This isn't really Platform related. Also we've never heard of anyone else getting this issue before so any information you can provide would be useful. Like a step by step of what you did leading up to the issue. Sounds pretty crazy.
