Technic is not updated for 1.4 yet. it is still on Minecraft 1.2.5 and will stay this way until all of the mods are updated for 1.4

Posted: About now! Hey guy, sorry no one has been any help. If you want the updated minecrafty shizzle wizzle, you need to delete the Technic Launcher and then open your normal minecraft. Then play that and wait.

You need to downgrade your Java to Java 6. There is a thread here that gives you step by step instructions on what to do. Just use the search button and you should find it.

Such high hopes for this thread with that title... There is a suggestion thread for things like this (I would be insanely surprised if the devs added this mod seeing as it has almost zero usefulness with other mods) Also, there is a section for adventure maps and servers...

You have a different issue, use the search bar and try some of those solutions. If that doesn't work post a bug report with the log and we might be able to help you.
