getting it working w/o the launcher won't matter much if you have no net connection. the logging in as "player" is not a tekkit thing, it's a vanilla MC thing. the best advice I can offer you is to look into server plugins that do authentication. they exist, but it may be hard to find the right one for the version of the server you're running, etc.

quad posting isn't helping you much. your issue sounds very much like a firewall problem. I know you are running OSX though and I know little about what firewalls come with/are available for macs. I would definitely come at it from the firewall angle though. something is blocking network traffic for that specific program.

2.1.0 in the launcher is 2.1.1, it's just mislabeled.

you really don't want to get started with the moralizing. really. what you said was that the moderators/admins should do something about the OP for posting dirty, dirty hacks or you'll be sad. you want us to keller/probate/ban him and lock/delete the thread. it's not happening because he's not breaking any rules. if you don't like the mods he's giving information about, that's fine. you're even free to say you don't like them. that's about it though. these are tools, they aren't inherently good or evil. it's how you use them.

if I had to take a stab at the function of the bottom part, I'd say it looks like a signal generator. that way you can generate some signals to look at with the oscilloscope

hahaha, oh WoW, how many stories I have about thee. I could probably rant for hours about the various absolute morons I've had the displeasure of partying with or being in a guild with. I haven't been around the MCF enough to really say if they're better or worse, but it would be really hard to top WoW's "community". I raided heavily from classic through about half of WOTLK (stopped right before the argent tournament raid came out). I've run raid guilds, been an officer, main tanked, been raid leader, and so much more. I ran into neglectful parents, entitled brats, entitled women 3 times my age, and children that played better than 90% of anyone else out there. overall, you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy than WoW though, IMO. I'm trying to think of a hilarious LFD story (I came back for a while for cata), but I can't really think of one right now. I usually didn't get kicked because I was the tank and/or I had friends with me. edit: ok I remembered a good one my gf and I had decided to return to WoW after burning out on cata and a failed attempt to create a successful raid guild (thanks, guild leveling system!). she convinced me that we should join the guild that her mother was in on another server. supposedly, it was a decent raiding guild and her mom pretty much does nothing but play WoW so you'd think she'd have some ability. we server xfer and get an invite, then run HoO heroic with me as tank, gf as heals, and her mom, another guildy, and a pug as DPS. her mother is a hunter. we did not kill the first boss. it was perhaps the most awkward thing I had experienced in a long time as I try and direct people on vent how on how to handle the encounter while this other guy is hitting on my gf's mom and the mom is falling off ledges, not paying attention, and generally pulling almost no DPS. meanwhile perv guy is trying to defender her while I'm all, "are you serious?" it ended in large repair bills and my gf's mother crying at my gf over vent for about an hour and trying to convince her that I am abusive and evil. we xfered off again quickly. yeah, good times.

I think you should look again as for the video, looks good. there are some errors, but they are minor: -you don't actually need minecraft installed already for the launcher to work. what you need is a legit account. -the .minecraft folder is not involved in any way with the launcher installing. -updating your vanilla minecraft (the one in .minecraft) doesn't effect the launcher. the reason there is an issue when MC updates is that the launcher actually goes out and downloads the latest .jar from mojang (this is why you need an account) and if the .jar is updated, it can't backdate it. you were sorta correct on this point but not completely. downgrading vanilla MC won't help at all.

what antivirus are you running and have you tried disabling it? the error you're getting is a block ID conflict, which generally means something got screwed up and you need to reinstall. however, you apparently are having problems reinstalling, and the usual culprit there is overactive antivirus/firewall software.

for all future generations: it's your goddamn antivirus. problem solved. maybe if the answer is in some non-stickied post more people will find it somehow.

for one, no one should be sending you their folder and you shouldn't ask for it. for two, it wouldn't solve your issue (assuming you're actually having this issue) anyway. your problem is that you can't actually read. no amount of files will make you literate. I recommend getting bent, followed by attending elementary school. failing that, you could post in the correct forum using the proper format and less whining/all caps begging.
