  1. holy crap dude, chill out. the people in this thread aren't being unreasonable or making demands like the technic team owes them anything. none of the people having this problem need or want your incoherent rant about how sure you are that this is being worked on, or that other bugs exist. for any kind of server that wants to be more than a private server with close friends, these kinds of protections are required. that's just how it is. showing up and being all, "have you THANKED THEM for what DOES work? HUH? HAVE YOU?!?" or claiming that the problem is clearly with the people in this thread because they are such chumps for trying to run a proper server that doesn't suck, but aren't versed enough in java or motivated enough to find/fix the problem on their own is completely uncalled for.
  2. I think you're confusing two separate problems. problem 1) you don't understand java virtual machine memory management, and are using the f3 screen to figure out how much max memory you think MC is getting by looking at "allocated memory" problem 2) your game has low FPS problem 1 isn't much of a problem, problem 2 might be solved with a bit more info about your PC. is it a laptop? what video card do you have?
  3. Re: Low Priority: Difficulty Downloading Using Technic Launcher it's AVG. it's well known (and posted in a sticky on the bug report forum) that AVG enjoys blocking the launcher and many other things without notifying you. uninstall that crap and get something worth using. microsoft security essentials is better (also free as well), even.
  4. you're right, you're doing it wrong. it also has nothing to do with using 64bit java (which you should have been doing all along if you're on a 64bit machine, but that's not the point). the bug board has your answer in a sticky.
  5. mod_MAtmos_forModLoader=on that's the bit to look for. change the "on" to "off". I sympathize with your trouble finding it, adding _forModLoader on the end of stuff TOTALLY changes what came before it, there was no way to tell that was the MAtmos mod just by looking. if I wasn't such a super computer genius I wouldn't have found it either. just to be perfectly clear btw, this is the modloader.cfg found in your %APPDATA%\.techniclauncher\tekkit\config\ directory.
  6. the problem seems to be with MAtmos. try disabling that in your modloader.cfg and see what happens. shouldn't affect you too much since all that does it add more ambient sounds to the game
  7. the f3 screen shows real memory usage at the time. what you are setting to 4GB is the maximum amount of memory it can use. that does not mean that it WILL use it, just that it CAN. also, if you're on a 32-bit machine, setting the max memory to anything over 1.5GB is gonna cause you some serious problems.
  8. I'm going to guess it's because it was a poor excuse, potentially made up, and a hilariously bad attempt at garnering sympathy. dead family members don't justify acting like he did. additionally, no one cares about your personal life on the internet. as a disclaimer, I'm clearly just guessing here as to motivations.
  9. I don't think there's a mod for it, but I heard the keybinds can be modified with a hex editor. you need to find the data pack file located at %APPDATA%\.techniclauncher\technicssp\bin\conf\data\.conf\userbin\ini\bannanas\override\custom\ and use winace to extract the contents of brdky.key. once you do that, look for the ukbof.dat and open it in hex workshop. offset 0x325a9d is where the unicode character strings for each command start. be careful though, because if you use ascii the whole thing crashes. once you make the edits, don't forget to re-ace the file and make sure it's named correctly.
  10. bug board, this-a-way: http://forums.technicpack.net/index.php/board,5.0.html before you copy/paste you post though, read this: http://forums.technicpack.net/index.php/topic,2797.0.html be sure to read it VERY carefully. then, feel free to post your problem in the correct format so someone can point out that you're running 32-bit java on a 64-bit machine. have a great day!
  11. EE is Equivalent Exchange. it's one of the mods in tekkit, though some people turn it off on their servers because they consider it too close to cheating. if you or the server you're on doesn't have EE turned off, you can make a quick trip to the nether, grab around 5 or 6 dust, then leave and never come back unless you want to. 4 dust to make a philosopher's stone and 1 to teach glowstone dust to your soon to exist transmutation tablet. as for making a nether portal, just google it.
  12. you have to build them. the good news is, if you are using EE you only have to go there once and very briefly.
  13. I had a similar issue a while back (with vanilla MC no less) and it turned out that I was using 32 bit java to run the game on my 64 bit processor. I'd double check that first thing.
  14. I am in awe of this thread and its OP. it takes true skill and real grit to Godwin yourself in your original post. the real gem in this crown of shame though, is bringing up ACTA. beautiful. my hat is off to this guy. edit: if it makes you feel better SimpleGuy, I hate you.
  15. here's an error for you: you didn't look at the stickies. you're about the 5 millionth person to have this problem, and do exactly what you just did. I'm really baffled how you could read the bug report format sticky, but not the one that lists your exact error message right in the title.
  16. for one, you didn't read the tekkit bug board at all, did you? for two, your problem is still probably exactly the same as the one I'm thinking of. your laptop is not using your real graphics card to play minecraft. luckily for you, the solution for you may not be the same because you probably have an ATI video card and not a Nvidia card (you didn't say, but I'm mind reading again). not so luckily for you, that means it's way harder to fix. aren't you excited? a little google-fu got me this article on HP's support site: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=uk&lc=en&docname=c02948560 since I know you will not read that at all, let me break it down for you. to fix this you will need to do the following: -flash your BIOS to an updated version -install a specific version of the drivers for your card -change settings inside your BIOS -tell the computer to use the real graphics card if you have no idea what a BIOS is and why you would want to get nude for it briefly, you may be out of luck. if you screw up with the BIOS thing, you could potentially turn your laptop into an expensive paperweight. let this be a lesson to you: laptops are terrible for gaming unless they are built specifically to play games. even then they're suboptimal.
  17. I suggest reading the tekkit bug board. you're on a laptop aren't you? one of those fancy deals with the power saving feature of turning your nvidia card off when you're not playing a game? nvidia optimus I think it's called? I know, I'm psychic. that's good too, 'cause you didn't provide any real information about your problem or system setup. all the mind reading takes it out of me though so I am unable to link you right to the thread. happy hunting!
  18. I think it is on purpose. it seems he's really hungry and decided to eat his tekkit for lunch, but just can't figure out how to go about it.
  19. it "feels buggy"? did you actually have a problem with it, or are you just saying that to try and justify turning back the hands of time? what you are saying is basically, "this piece of software vastly simplifies the process of modding minecraft, but because it is not written by The Lord Himself and therefor perfect and bug free, we should go back to the older more annoying way which also happens to work a whole lot better with cracked clients" I'm gonna take a wild guess and say your answer will probably be "no".
  20. I went looking for mapping tools that would work with tekkit a while back and looked into techtonicus. the problem with it was that while you could specify a block id and meta data combo, apparently redpower uses damage state or some other thing to determine what a block is. from what I could gather, no one had gotten it to work when I checked. I liked the output of it as well, but just could not make it work. dynmap looks pretty nice as well though if you use the HD template. I will warn you that it does not handle redpower miniblocks correctly and they just show up as cobblestone. that's my only complaint though and it's minor.
  21. if the server loaded the world without errors or crashing, you're probably all set.
  22. freakachu

    Error

also, make sure you're selecting tekkit and not technic. the error mentions thaumcraft, which is only in technic.
  23. that's what I was afraid of. the launcher pulls some kind of crazy self restart black magic if it isn't run with what it considers the "correct" parameters from my experience. chances are you will need to go a bit more low level than java if you want to get this to work. doing this is a bit out of my depth, but I recommend looking for ways to funnel ALL your traffic through a proxy.
