Semisubzero Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 I made one and it works great, minus the 11,000 blocks it broke and littered items everywhere and lagged everything, it was good I also found out that you can use panels or any other non full block to make bridges through it as it doesn't see those as full blocks and can still create its forcefield inside of them.
joe5 Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 alternately, if you are willing to install the darkthunder eddition you can change the thickness of your forcefield not to mention add an item that automaticly attacks anyone unathorsed who comes in, however you would need to get all of your users to use that one as well.
gavjenks Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Regarding the OP, I haven't tested it, but a block cutter upgrade may be able to destroy force field blocks... if so, you could line one up correctly to cut their generator apart and thus kill the field? But there's probably another way in. If they have a door, there's a good chance you can use block breaker to cut the wires in the right way (or destroy redstone torches) so the lock system will break and it will just swing open with a simple lever. If they use wireless, you can build a sniffer to get the frequency sooner or later.

If they use wireless, you can build a sniffer to get the frequency sooner or later. Or you can setup a few wireless jammers around their house to mess with any wireless redstone they may be using. Which makes things very interesting if they use a wireless remote to turn off the field. Especially if they happen to be away from their home so it may give you some leverage to get them to change the field.
gavjenks Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Just tested it. The block cutter upgrade will not destroy forcefield blocks. HOWEVER it will destroy both levers and restone wire. So you could break whatever is telling the forcefield to turn on. It will NOT destroy redpower circuits, so for those of you reading this thread, you can protect yourself by just using a NOT gate attached to a copper ore (which is also immune for some reason) to power your field =P
Dodge34 Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Not sure if it should be posted here, this kind of thread explain to griefers how to grief somehow, I understand that it wasn't the goal of the OP, but now with everyone trying to help, it shows up the flaws of the system and explain to griefers how to mess around.

Griefers will grief, it doesn't matter how. We shouldn't stop ourselves from helping a fellow for this reason.
danidas Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 I do a admit that a few of the suggestions can be used to grief but forcefields in tekkit are just too powerful and griefy in their own rite. As the mod that they are using is not really designed with SMP in mind. So admins have no way to get past someone's force field with out the use of worldedit or mcedit. Here is a griefy way to get around it, if the field is not complete meaning their is still dirt/stone in its way blast those blocks with a fully charged destruction catalyst. This should blow a hole though their base before the field can recover and seal the hole. Or a even better way is to use a logoutevator (term coined by Zisteau on the minecrack server). Dig under his house and make sure their is no open areas between you and the field. Now dig a two block tall by one block wide indention in the wall and place a trap door in the top block of the indention. Now open the trap door and stand in the space while closing the trap door so it is cutting you character in half. Now relog and when you log back in you will find yourself in the next available air space directly above where you logged out that is big enough for you to fit in. Which will be right in his house or basement allowing you to disable his force field from the inside. This is a very long standing bug/safety feature in minecraft and is due to the fact that it will not spawn you into a solid block. So that when you log back in while inside a block it will move you up to the next available location and if there are none above you it will try below. This trick can be used to get all the way from bedrock to the build limit as long as you have a column of blocks to put the logoutevator under and space at the top to spawn into.

LOVE IT. XD You can use that to get to the roof of the nether. :3
danidas Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 LOGOUTEVATOR. LOVE IT. XD You can use that to get to the roof of the nether. :3 Yep, but not sure why you would want to get up their other then to be trapped for all time.
VideoBoy Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Yep, but not sure why you would want to get up their other then to be trapped for all time. Umm... take a bunch of Speed II potions on a ender baggie, run for five hours, make a portal, emerge 1 million blocks away from spawn. One player did this on my server... the only base that hasn't been griefed so far even though everyone knows the exact coordinates. XD

VideoBoy Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Not sure that you can build in the area above the bedrock in the nether. You can. New height limit in 1.2, remember? I had a whole base up there. I took it down because IC2 machines were glitching up the same way they do above layer 128 in the overworld... I hope they fixed this. XD
kci60 Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 I have the exact opposite problem! On my server, players are able to tunnel under my mffs because it doesn't refresh quick enough to regenerate down there. Is there a way to increase the refresh time? I found an option in the config for refresh time but I can't find any documentation on it on which direction that number should go (up or down) Just use the block cutter upgrade it goes all the way down to bedrock so they cant tunnel underneath it unless you are using the dome upgrade.
Fleeb Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Redpower frames can pull forcefield blocks, and since they aren't destroyed, they do not refresh, leaving a hole in the field for as long as you need. Has the added benefit of being able to replace the displaced field blocks, leaving no trace. Great for overly complicated Ocean's 11 style heists, or trapping a cow in your neighbor's living room.
Torezu Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 ...or trapping a cow in your neighbor's living room. This sounds like fun. Would you really only trap one cow, though? I'd do a menagerie.
Fleeb Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 This sounds like fun. Would you really only trap one cow, though? I'd do a menagerie. Yep Only one. Just to make them think it wandered in on it's own. To let them wonder how the heck it got there, instead of assuming a player just spawned it. Chickens are even better, they make them worry about smaller, harder to find gaps in security.
MacKeeper28 Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 or u could just find out how to op into ur server and tp past the forcefield
Industrial Miner Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 or u could just find out how to op into ur server and tp past the forcefield Last post: Fleeb, Aug 10, 2012 Better look at the date next time.
