Hushful Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 I give each one a fair go. Who knows, you may find something new and cool you didn't know about.
Xylord Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 I give each one a fair go. Who knows, you may find something new and cool you didn't know about. For example, the "Take a Hint" song Sacrieur posted... I hate this genre, I find the lyrics lobotomizing and it seems to have everything needed to make me hate it... But somehow, I just can't stop listening to it, and actually enjoying it, which is fairly annoying.
Exoforce Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 You could listen to some of my music, because I totally haven't linked this in 487 other places on this forum <.< >.> http://soundcloud.com/thedarthmoogle/call-to-power That song ain't bad... I know how hard it is to write/make/play good music. I've personally experimented a lot with making some music on http://noteflight.com/ - You should check it out. Also there are some really feature packed Synthesizer apps for iPhone and such i've tried out, made a few decent 3~ish minute long songs with 'em. What do you use?

I use Cubase 6 with all the default patches. Noteflight looks pretty groovy though, thanks! :D
Moderators Munaus Posted November 25, 2012 Moderators Posted November 25, 2012 I wonder how many people here are listening to the music like me, or are just posting without listening? I do try, but there are so many F****ng teenagers posting about dubstep! Makes me wanna stab the inside of my ears! Here's a fan cover that Lordi made, sadly the band they presented is finnish, so you may not appreciate them as much as finns do. Amusingly, that a country like finns who made bands like Hurriganes, HIM, Nightwish, Apocalyptica, The 69 Eyes and Ari Koivunen, yet they were heavily dependent on italian dance music back in the 80s. Like this one, Mombasa. I highly recommend that movie, by the way. 2 teenagers who are diagnosed with cancer and then break out to live life to its fullest. Don't play this song to any finn, though. They will hug you and cry on your shoulder and confess all their sins. True fact.
M-C Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 The thread needs more yuno. Also some of you need to take a hint. *replies to 1 page old post* exactly, I never knew other people knew about mirai nikki XD. I like that version, should get it on my phone, like... Now. EDIT: Btw, I jumped for joy when I saw the name Yuno come by
Sacrieur Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 It's one of five anime out of the 80 series I've seen that I've given a 10/10. The whole Mirai Nikki OST is fantastic. Can't go wrong with Yousei Teikoku though.
SimpleGuy Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Don't play this song to any finn, though. They will hug you and cry on your shoulder and confess all their sins. True fact. I'm curious why so.
Moderators Munaus Posted November 26, 2012 Moderators Posted November 26, 2012 I'm curious why so. Beneath the Northern star, this golden valley of home. I sing about life. I am finnish. Oh, if they only knew around the world, how it feels to live beneath the sky. There are people here who's tears could create many oceans. There are so many lonely, yet forbidden love. They would never end with their stories, pictures and ever-lasting love songs. This life sure is a tough work, and it favours only the few. As the finns surely know. Beneath the Northern star, this golden valley of home. I sing about life. For I am finnish. For love I sing, for there is a man and a woman, beneath the Northern star: lives the finnish man. For in this country lives a stubborn people. Friends who like each other can never be separated, only death or the law can. We walk in steep hills with heavy sorrowful souls, but we rise from it with teeth clenching. After we past the corner, we walk back to it and realise that it wasn't worth it. This life sure is a tough work, and it favours only the few. As the finns surely know. Beneath the Northern star, this golden valley of home. I sing about life. For I am finnish. For love I sing, for there is a man and a woman, beneath the Northern star: lives the finnish man. Translated by my own ear. Not using any google-schmoogle translazer device from a certain viking hacker I hope it makes sense to you, Simple. It's a very patriotic song
The_DarthMoogle Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Gawd, makes me feel old listening to this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7zJ0yVSSvE EDIT : Found the proper version, above one was Enya's and not Carl Jenkins'
Moderators Munaus Posted November 26, 2012 Moderators Posted November 26, 2012 I think this thread deserves some classical music. Beethoven's 9th symphony, anyone?
Xylord Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 I think this thread deserves some classical music. Beethoven's 9th symphony, anyone? That's some very mainstream classical music. What about a good Bolero?
Jay? Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 That's some very mainstream classical music. What about a good Bolero? How about some Tchaikovsky?
Exoforce Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Here's a fan cover that Lordi made, sadly the band they presented is finnish, so you may not appreciate them as much as finns do. I like that song! Glad i saw it haha. I listen to alot of Finnish and Swedish pagan/viking/epic heathen(haha its a real genre) metal and such, so it fits in well. One of my favorite bands is Ensiferum, they have some really amazing music. What the heck... I'm a big fan of theirs some here's some more songs If you haven't heard of Wintersun, you've been missing out on possibly the best Metal ever made! It has some great history, and it took one guy 8 years to make all the vocals and everything but the drums, which he left to an extremely talented guy from another band.... Meshuggah maybe? Anyway, LISTEN TO IT! If you listen to ANY of the music I've listed, LISTEN TO WINTERSUN. btw, the album Time 1 just recently came out, and it's a bit different... Still awesome but a little bit different genre, -Listen to TIME1 HERE! I'm talking about the old album. Listen to Wintersun IN ORDER for the best musical experience! It tells a story. I love this song by Children of Bodum... I think its one of the best of theirs. Turisas is great too! And another Alestorm song cause they're such a great break from more "normal" metal! And another! Listen to this Equilibrium! I suggest looking up Korpiklaani, Obscura, Arch Enemy, Augury, Dimmu Borgir, DIREWOLF!!!<Similar in construction to Wintersun>, Moonsorrow, and Enslaved as well! Highly recommend it! These are my favorite bands of all time so far... Well I left out a few but I don't want to fill up a whole page... Now I've got to add Lordi to my list and DL some songs... Cant believe i haven't heard 'em before. And here's some Knife Party which ISN'T Metal... But ISN'T Dubstep either... It's Electro House. Different Hope I've shared some music that everyone can like. I listen to all that music above, but I'm really classical at heart... I played the Clarinet for 6 years, and I had the best teacher there could ever be. He was Russian, from the USSR back in the Communist days, where he was one of the principal and best players in the whole country. He later defected to the US, escaping with his wife, children and 3 dogs. When he lived in Russia he says he was a rich man, rewarded for his talent, but when he came to the US he met unemployment, and finally found his first job working in a pizza shop for minimum wage. - Often the sad truth that happened to many physicists and immigrants of the Arts and sciences from Russia and other countries. He eventually got an audition with an Orchestra and impressed the judges with the help of his brother who moved to the US earlier and so he finally began his career in the US and eventually retired from that and became a private lesson teacher for Clarinets and Saxophones... IDK why I wrote all that His name is Lev Danamen... Not that it matters cause I can't find anything about him on the internet. But anyway he was my teacher, and I quickly excelled and was soon winning County wide competitions and generally feeling good about myself, but in an audition for GDYO, which is pretty prestigious, I didn't make it into the band (The entrance fee is about ~300$) and neither did my friend who took lessons from the same man, and I had loaned my $1500 A clarinet and my $2000 Bb Buffet Festival to her... I was heartbroken, but what really killed me, was that in the fine print of the audition packet is said all desisions were final, but after about a week, my friend got a call from the director of the top band, and was let in. The only way she got is was that her brother had known the director about 3 years prior, and has introduced her to him. So I became disillusioned with my playing and eventually lost all will to keep practicing every day, and finally quit playing all together. And so i learned the lesson that it's not What you know, but Who you know. I think about how well I used to play everyday, while I sit on my computer, play Minecraft, and look forward to a mundane desk job later in life rather than playing for a symphony orchestra, and instead of mainly listening to fantastic and inspiring calssical music, I listen to emotional metal that's closer to how I feel. But that's the story of why I love all kinds of music, and can appreciate head-pounding, heart-stopping metal, and suddenly switch to Beethoven and Tchaikovsky and feel at home in both. - And know music theory, if that explains why I use Noteflight The_DarthMoogle That's all ya'll, hope ya can appreciate all kinds of music, don't hate on any kind of music, because they're all different and amazing in their own way. Damn that was a long post, better get back to adding a third force-field to my base :)
Moderators Munaus Posted November 27, 2012 Moderators Posted November 27, 2012 don't hate on any kind of music, because they're all different and amazing in their own way. Hear hear! Truer words have not been posted before. Or have they...? Holy shit you posted a lot! There are a few bands in that list I like, some I don't like. Equilibrium and Ensiferum are one of those dont-like's. Lordi breaks the norm where you can actually listen and sing along with the lyrics... not mumble and mutter and garble words. It starts to be annoying when so many bands do this. You play Clarinet? Man, you should play movie or game scores and upload them to youtube! Like ViolinTay does. Here and here are a few videos I've enjoyed from her.
Xylord Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Golly, that's some high-quality wall of text! I liked reading that. I'm presently learning guitar, I don't plan to do it professionally, because I have a naturally bad fine dexterity, but I'm liking it. I like some of the music you posted the, this Wintersun in particular.
Exoforce Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Thanks, I aim to please. I'm happy to hear you like the Wintersun Xylord, and I wish you good luck on learning the guitar! I had never heard ViolinTay, but she's a good player! She does some good music.
SimpleGuy Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 I enjoy dancing to this style o' stuff the local DJ's throw down, but I'll pass on the whole psychedelic drug culture though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QcP4mM4o_-0
