troubleshooting Why is my modpack not working?

I am making a pack for my friends and am wondering why my pack is not working. Can you please help me out?

Which version of forge do you use?

I use forge version 1.12.2-14.23.5.2854

Forge changed things with 2854 and newer, you must use the Installer now, not the universal. You still need to re-name it to Modpack. And don't run the installer, just re-name it.
