Dr. Zuko Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Hey guys, so Minecraft officially put out the new 1.5 update today; with this update there are some new blocks put into vanilla some of which are redstone. Now my question is when or even if Tekkit Lite will go forth and update to Vanilla 1.5? Quote
cerevox Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 OMFG, minecraft 1.5 has been out for like 6 hours, why hasn't every single mod author updated all of their stuff yet?!? This is totally unacceptable, everyone should be refunded and get gift cards and freebies and then the mod authors should immediately update to 1.5, and then 1.5.1 since that will be out in a couple of days, all while making everything compatible with other mods so the technic folks can put a pack together from these updated mods instantly. GreenWolf13 Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Now my question is, did you even read the rules before you posted? Not only is it against the rules to ask for ETAs, Minecraft 1.5 has been out for literally, less than 8 hours. Quote
Valkon Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 I know a modder so I got all the mods early (an hour before 1.5 came out) they're amazing I bet you guys are jealous lolol Quote
Gio² Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 1.5 is soooo a few hours ago. I am still waiting on those lazy Tekkit guys to update to 49.2²²². Spaceships are epic in the new update. Quote
Lethosos Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Give 'em a week, THEN complain. Forge didn't need any major changes to its distro so any needed updates won't be a huge pain. In fact, that's on my plate tonight, to look and see what LexManos and Co. have added to their newest Dev version. Quote
GreenWolf13 Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 I actually helped fix a bug in Forge recently. It had to do with the OreDictionary and the "wildcard value" being changed from -1 to short.max_value. So yeah, go me! Quote
Markarthian Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 That's pretty cool. I've used the dictionary before, but never seen that wildcard thing. What's it about? Quote
GreenWolf13 Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 It's used for adding all sub-blocks of a block to the dictionary. One example is for wood planks, they just have to add t once with the wildcard instead of a bunch of times for each metadata. Here's a link to the GitHub issue I made about it: https://github.com/MinecraftForge/MinecraftForge/issues/448 Quote
Markarthian Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 I see, that's a cool mechanic. Back on topic: isnt it updated yet?! i mean even mojang haz an updated version! Those technic guys are lazy dud o.o they shud work harder else i quit. Quote
xtrasyn Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Really cool to see tekkit lite now already updated to 0.6.2! Really liking the new blocks in ic2 and redpower. Go team platform! Awesome performance. Quote
Dr. Zuko Posted March 14, 2013 Author Posted March 14, 2013 Okay, it seems that I did break one of the rules before posting which is expecting an ETA but that is only 1/2 of my question so I do apologize for that. Now I am not demanding it be updated for those of you that rudely seemed to assume so (then again you may have interpreted my question in an odd fashion) and also I clearly stated "if" it will be even updated, considering (if I remember correctly) that Tekkit Classic has been on 1.2.5 this whole time (but then again I haven't played Tekkit Classic in a while...). Quote
Lethosos Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 I think Classic is a special case that involved growth suppressant drugs and electroshock therapy... but that's Kaker's choice. Quote
Leigh Ellis Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Being a developer I know how annoying it is to have people constantly asking for an ETA. However I am happy to tell them what I know e.g. "I have to do x before I can look at y and then it should be close to finished so maybe in z days, but could be even up to zzz days if it doesn't go smoothly" It would be nice to just know where they stand with everything, feel free to shout at me now. GreenWolf13 Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 My answer whenever someone asks me for an ETA: "Sometime between now and the end of the world." Quote
Torezu Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 My answer whenever someone asks me for an ETA: "Sometime between now and the end of the world." Mine is "Never, for you." Quote
Maxis010 Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Mine is "Never, for you." Mine is "Relatively soon", after all, relative to the sun dying it will be soon Quote
Lethosos Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Mine is one I borrowed from another developer elsewhere: "It'll be ready when it's ready." <tiphat user="Felorin" /> Quote
freakachu Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 I like "the 15th of NEVER EVER", for its deep nostalgic significance. that was the date UO would get necromancy, according to lum the mad back in the early 90s. ironically, many years later necromancy was added to UO. Quote

I will not shout because this makes perfect sense and it is enough of an explanation to be honest, I can assume the values of x and y if anything haha I was just correlating Classic to Lite and was wondering if it will end up the same way. Awesome performance. 0.6.2 you say? i'm assuming that's a typo? latest dev build i'm seeing is 0.6.0 (which is missing modular powersuits for some odd reason, although the server download for 0.6.0 has the mod jar included).
