yay899 Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 (edited) I've had this problem across three computers on the same network, all running windows 7 and the latest stable launcher, Manually placing the Scala jars in the appropriate folders solved the issue. It appears to only occur on custom modpacks. In fact, that was reason enough to get the thread locked and the issue ignored on the bug tracker. Before it was locked, one other person had the problem, on windows 8.1. Unless modpacks need to start including Scala in their downloads, this is clearly a problem with the technic platform itself. It would be nice to get it fixed as quickly as possible, so I may continue to play my custom mod packs with my less tech inclined friends. Edit: If this is any assistance, my modpack. http://www.technicpack.net/modpack/details/private-pixelmon-funtimes.401792 The locked issue thread, http://forums.technicpack.net/tracker/issue-3977-not-downloading-scala/?gopid=19180#entry19180 Edited October 25, 2014 by yay899
Moderators Munaus Posted October 25, 2014 Moderators Posted October 25, 2014 post the log logs can be found when clicking the Cog-Wheel button on the top right corner on the launcher window. If you can't open the launcher the logs can also be found inside %appdata% -> Roaming -> .technic -> logs Paste the content on pastebin.com or paste.ubuntu.com and give the link.
yay899 Posted October 25, 2014 Author Posted October 25, 2014 Just a fair warning. I installed each piece of Scala individually, attempting to launch between each one in order to see if it was only failing to download certain ones. It failed to download all of them, and that bloated the log to a whopping 850,000 KB. It will not launch in Notepad+, but will launch in normal Notepad. It will just stop responding for a few minutes while it loads the file. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2mYyR8grPuRcGp0TTBMTmxFMHc/view?usp=sharing
Moderators Munaus Posted October 26, 2014 Moderators Posted October 26, 2014 no no, we don't bump here. reason I ignored this is that you ignored my request. When I ask people to post logs on pastebin I don't tell 'em "put it behind a download link". I'm not downloading anything. Put your log on pastebin as I originally asked
yay899 Posted October 26, 2014 Author Posted October 26, 2014 (edited) I can't post it to pastebin. I crashed my browser attempting to copy and paste the text into it. It is a lot of text. Edit: Even if I don't crash my browser, Pastebin won't accept anything over 512 KB. This is 1,660 times that size. Edited October 26, 2014 by yay899
EvilOwl Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 (edited) Quote from the Forge EAQ: These libraries failed to download. Try again. org.scala-lang:scala-library:2.10.2, org.scala-lang:scala-compiler:2.10.2 Download this: https://bitbucket.org/luacs1998/forgelibrarydownloads/downloads/fmllibs16.zip and extract it to your .minecraft folder, then try running Minecraft, or redownload the installer. Otherwise, we will need console logs, and your JVM and OS versions. Edited October 26, 2014 by bochen415
yay899 Posted October 26, 2014 Author Posted October 26, 2014 Quote from the Forge EAQ: It wasn't just scala-library and scala-compiler. It was scala-continuations-library, scala-continuations-plugin, scala-actors-migration, scala-compiler, scala-library, scala-parser-combinators, scaka-reflect, scala-swing, and scala-xml. I have already manually installed them and it works fine, but I would prefer not to have to do this on every computer my friends own, just because I want them to play mods with me, and they don't know how to install them.
EvilOwl Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 If I wanted to guess I would say that this is a ISP provider fault or a proxy. across three computers on the same network
yay899 Posted October 26, 2014 Author Posted October 26, 2014 If I wanted to guess I would say that this is a ISP provider fault or a proxy. I'm not using any proxies. How would I figure out if it's an ISP problem?
EvilOwl Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 Go to a different location that has another ISP. At least you can rule that out this way.
