  1. 1. Depends on if it's a private or public server. For public servers, I cannot comment much since I've only been an admin but for private servers I just run it from my home PC or a second box (I don't need special software, just run it and let it go). 2. By add-ons, I assume you mean other mods (as opposed to bukkit plugins). If you're installing other mods, be advised that you can't just stick the "server" files onto the server and expect them to work. The server files need to be bukkit ports. 3. Probably but I don't know of any that have bukkit ports as mentioned in number 2. 4. No clue what you're talking about. Good luck.
  2. Is there a bukkit port? If not, http://www.mcportcentral.co.za/index.php?topic=47.0 If it's not ported to bukkit it can't be added. If it is ported, you can always add it yourself. Note: I use it in SSP but I haven't seen a bukkit port of that mod.
  3. As stated above, you're full of shit. Searching "Forestry Tekkit" brings up not only many, many threads that are similar but most contain the answer to your initial question. We would highly appreciate if you didn't do this again and instead searched for your answer. If you can't find it after some due diligence, have at it. No. He will not negotiate. His pride? Creative control? Who knows? Who cares. No. If asked in advance, he may consider it and some modpacks use it. Currently, Forestry is in the Feed the Beast mod pack for a custom map. In fact, Sengir wrote a change into the SSP version of the mod (called FTB edition) to double the chance of obtaining rare mutations. Nevertheless, most users here consider his methods for getting the mod removed to be unconscionable; Technic haters probably love him though but who gives a shit. Unnecessary. Jakj did for the 1-2 versions that featured it. Then Sengir "deactivated" the code. I haven't decompiled and looked through but evidently it's not active in the newer versions (I tested it once with 7.0.1 and then deleted it). However, the Technic team will not put it back in although an end-user that wants it is welcome to do so at his or her leisure (block ids permitting).
  4. Again: To add: http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/warning-cant-keep-up-did-the-system-time-change-or-is-the-server-overloaded.68996/ This is caused by the server being unable to process certain information quickly and is a common problem with some servers. It could be your processor speed, other processes taking priority from java, machines and tech on the server, plugins sucking juice, etc. I have yet to find a specific cause for the problem but it doesn't have much to do with RAM allocation (unless you're trying to gather a ton of people on a gig or something). Just as an FYI, you have not provided sufficient information to allow us to help you. If we knew everything, we may be able to find the cause but even then it wouldn't be guaranteed. In short, if you only get that when the server starts, you're probably fine. If you get it often during play, I believe it could create lag and other such issues but allocating 50 gigs of RAM is probably not going to fix it. If you're running <20 people or so, 4Gb is probably more than enough.
  5. The Tekkit server comes with a batch file (called "Launch", I believe). If you're hosting on a home machine or a machine you have direct access to, just create a *.txt file and put this in there: java -Xmx4G -Xms2G -jar Tekkit.jar nogui pause Rename the file extension from *.txt to *.bat. (Note: This is for Windows systems). xms is the initial allocated RAM, xmx is the max. When adding RAM, however, garbage collection may (probably will) slightly lag the server when working with more RAM you allocated. If you're running the server on a hosting site, you may be able to change RAM allocated within the command panel. Mac and Linux probably use different commands/methods to allocate RAM to the server.
  6. I'm pretty sure that it will convert power as long as it's plugged into power. I don't recall if a redstone signal will shut it off. The thing is, BC pipes don't pull power like IC wires. If an engine is pumping, it pushes power regardless of power draw on the network.
  7. Understood. I clarified it because I didn't want the OP (or anyone else) starting a ton of threads on this forum when they combine addons into the pack and it doesn't work. Before the Technic7 PureBDcraft on the forums came around, I created my own several weeks prior...it took me about 1-2 weeks of attempts to learn just how to combine the addons and finally create a functional texture pack using the resources I could find. In short, as much as I encourage people to learn to do this stuff for themselves, I know that pushing people to combine there own packs when one is available will just cause many more threads with simple questions clogging the forums, do you understand what I mean?
  8. "Warning cant keep up did the time change or is the server overloaded" is about processing not storage. In short, it's not a RAM thing. I also assume by, "i have 10g so i added 4g to java" you meant that you changed the batch file to allocate more RAM...
  9. 1. Sphax has its own website: http://bdcraft.net/ 2. You only need to combine packs if you're building your own full texture pack (base+addons for each mod; all available on the forums of bdcraft.net). 3. Technic boards have a specific board for texture packs ( http://forums.technicpack.net/forums/scribble-parlour.45/ ) including a user-created pack from Sphax PureBDcraft x128 and a downsampled x64 for Technic and Tekkit. If you install other mods, go on the BDcraft.net forums and install addons for those other mods.
  10. Are you using a development version (like you should not be doing).

"Helping people isn't gratifying...But hey, they got the help they needed, what do they need simple fucking manners for, right?"

Thanks, Beer. I do enjoy many of your posts and I believe that it's more about the self-gratification of knowing you helped somebody.

Anyway, a toast to Beer: "The cause of and solution to all of life's problems." - Homer Simpson

      Beer

It all boils down to the analogy of, "Give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime." I empathize with the admins and mods of Technic. I used to be in their position for another game and ran into the same bullshit.

"Completely wrong, Great And Mighty Oblivious One...Time actually passed, things happened, animals moved and did their animal-y things (hopefully not on the carpet)...and little baby sheep ran around bleating "notch is a terrible programmer" in Morse's code. "

Jakj, if you ever find yourself in the North-East, I'll buy you a beer.

  13. They're Chickenbones's way of re-doing wireless redstone. They're a bit more expensive than the older version but they allow much better control when using wireless transmitters and receivers in circuits. The things you mentioned are components for the various tools that receive, transmit, block/jam, or map wireless redstone signals.
  14. You may think you've given us enough information to go on to help you solve your problem, but you haven't. Want to fill us in about more information about the server?...only if you want someone to actually help you.
  15. You don't add mods to the launcher like with magic launcher, you drop them into directories or stick them in a jar just like you would with a normal minecraft install except to a different directory and to modpack.jar. In other words, you can certainly add mods to Tekkit (client-side and server-side).
  16. That's the client-side version. You can delete it for yourself but you can't disable the client-side for other people.
  17. Not the client-side portion. The server-side, sure. Just delete it off the server, it's in the mods directory.
  18. We'll get right on that. While we're working on that is there anything else we can get for you?
  19. That one I'm not familiar with so I hope you get it working, mate.
  20. "Unsupported major.minor version 51.0" Usually means go get yourself a copy of Java7
  21. Dodge, do the same thing but in the screenshots, notice how the right side says ignore item ids? If you change those to also dump used and unused (if you'd like) item ids, it will create a dump of all the block ids and item ids. You can tailor these preferences based on what you're adding and modifying. Mine was for adding mods that use mostly block ids; for item ids, just create a dump that includes them.
  22. You can do a block and item id dump to get many but a lot of things in some mods such as most of the stuff in RP, uses fewer ids and use meta information (or something like that) to define the item/block. For those, you'll have to just create a list.
  23. Beer, don't get me wrong, I disagree with the way you brought up downs to hammer on the OP. Regardless, this thread needs to die so this should be the last I post on it. Good luck to all and happy mining.
  24. Damn gassy, you had to go and get all keller over this stupid post? Dammit, man.
  25. Narcisism, you're wrong. The DPS warrior is easy-sauce whereas the rogue takes work. Dude, just give up. Comparing WoW to this thread is asinine. This thread might die if you guys didn't keep bringing it back up. Shit, the OP probably left by now. The OP already got something that helped him/her block the things they wanted so just leave it be...
