and, for the record, Mystcraft made some rather large changes (at least that's how it seems to me) in the version upgrades from Tekkit 1.0.6 to 1.1.8; so I'm not sure how many of those have been updated in the wiki.

My understanding is that the combustion troubles tend to be caused when you have the engine and water supply in different chunks and one of the chunks doesn't load. As long as you're careful to keep them all loaded they're great.

Not sure where the FTB info comes from, but I believe the Tekkit wiki is based on testing, so results could be just statistically off. I couldn't find an official source that documents details.

Up and running, now what do I do with all this cobblestone?
weirleader replied to dirtyword's topic in Tekkit Discussion
and I love using it (cobblestone) to build endless bridges through the nether; works great as a ghast-proof highway, especially with turtles automating the highway-building process. -
Whats a cheap self sustaining way to power a fisher?
weirleader replied to Catts's topic in Tekkit Discussion
...and pumps EDIT: Doh! missed it by that much! :ninja: -
Charlie, if that's the case, then can you maybe help me figure out what is going on with my testing (see link above)? It was not a flat 100 MJ/t per face like I expected (or else there was something wrong with my setup).

not really, at least not that I can think of. Maybe put a computer and Redstone Energy Cell on one with a timer that emits a redstone signal every now and then to run the fisher for a bit...? -
Can't open or create new tekkit Worlds
weirleader replied to TGK_Vitality's topic in Tekkit Discussion
Have you used the gear in the TekkitLauncher (top-right) to edit options? You can check the box to "Increase PermGen Size". Perhaps that will help. -
You might try reading here -- we did some experimentation and SORT OF got an idea of how the energy limitations work. http://forums.technicpack.net/threads/lets-test-tekkit-1-1-7.50750/page-2#post-419901

two bits of advice: (1) no need to mention your name, it's already labelled when you post (2) try MCPC-Plus; you just need to download the specific version based on whatever version of Minecraft you're running (e.g., if you're using Tekkit 1.1.8 then that means MC 1.5.2). You can get the appropriate file here (note that since you're probably looking for a 1.5.2 build you'll want the filename that ends with B643.jar, for example): http://ci.md-5.net/job/MCPC-Plus-Legacy/ just replace your Tekkit.jar with that file (and make sure it's renamed to Tekkit.jar).

mine is 1.7.0_10 and still running fine, but I do wonder at all the versions/paths that were there -- it's possibly something got haywire. The only thing I can imagine trying at this point is to wipe all trace of Java, wipe all trace of Minecraft/Tekkit, reboot, and reinstall (but, to be totally honest, I don't want to imagine how pissed off I'd be if I did all that and the problem was still there).

interesting -- tesseract maxtransfer used to be under the 'tweaks' section. From what I understand, the conduits no longer have any loss, but I don't know about configuring the tesseract loss. I don't worry too much about it because once I get a good power setup going I make so much power I don't even notice the 20% loss.

Yep -- I haven't yet gotten around to learning Atomic Science, so haven't been able to put anything in! So if somebody does know it, please go for it!

I don't know the finer points of PATH info, but mine is "C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin\java.exe" After checking both places, I realized that I have the jre7 installed in both the (x86) and 'regular' Program Files locations; so maybe you do to? See if removing the (x86) part does the trick. I do run the 64-bit version, so I know that it's possible.
-
that path info is for the installation of Java, so that when you run the .bat file and it calls Java... then Windows will know where to look for it.
-
well, based on this newer info it seems perhaps your path is not correctly set. You might try this: http://java.com/en/download/help/path.xml
-
I don't think it should be that sensitive to Java version -- mine is somewhat outdated and not causing problems. Have you tried wiping it clean and re-downloading/re-installing?

just be sure the sewers don't overlap -- any with overlapping regions will shut down.

I think the question being asked is if I have a 7x7 farm with different items in each slot, what will the distribution look like? And I don't really know the answer, but I'd bet it ends up being for 8, 11, 14 (basically congruent to 2mod3) you get more in outer boxes and less in middle 'cross' spaces: 11122333 11122333 11122333 44455666 44455666 77788999 77788999 77788999 for 7, 10, 13 (basically congruent to 1mod3) you get less in outer boxes and more in middle 'cross' spaces: 1122233 1122233 4455566 4455566 4455566 7788899 7788999 I totally haven't confirmed this, but I can't imagine any other scenario making much sense. Then again, try it and let us know! As for sewers/composters, I don't have specific numbers, but I've found that large farms (I think I had 9x9 or larger... I'm on a new map and can't recall) just suck down the fertilizer like mad. I had pens with maybe 20+ each of cows/pigs/chickens/sheep and a single 9x9 farm could out-consume the fertilizer production easily. I had a 9x9 sewer in each pen (which included some slaughtering areas), so that makes 4 and had 3 composters working through the sewage at pretty close to peak capacity. Sorry it's not specifics, but maybe it'll at least give you a feel for things; and you can always tweak your setup later.

not sure if this helps, but I've noticed that with my Night Vision it will start off as Enabled but not actually be functional and I need to toggle it off/on using the key binding before it actually takes effect.

Are Diamonds supposed to be this rare?
weirleader replied to deltasrage's topic in Tekkit Discussion
Yep, I've seen that one before; I just prefer to stick to programs I've written myself. I still need to figure out a good way to get turtles to drop of resources and perhaps even autorefuel. So many awesome things to do with Tekkit, so little time. -

ah, for the programs there is a way to import directly from pastebin I believe (I haven't used it, but watch this: ). Since I run a server on my home system, I just copy the files directly into each computer's folder. If you want more info on that, let me know... don't have time to 'shplain it all at the moment. -
I'm not sure about the overbreeding, other than it's possible that the chronotyper isn't pulling them correctly when they're clipping through walls. I was having similar problems and somebody (can't remember who) had the excellent suggestion to throw conveyor belts around the border that push all animals back in towards the middle. Once I did this all my troubles seemed to be resolved.

was going to mention raspberry pi, but couldn't remember what it was called. :-) would something like that work for tekkit, or is it somehow limited in memory/power? The last I read (which was a while ago) was before I got into Minecraft/Tekkit. EDIT: I see here that you can make a server on it, but I have a feeling that Tekkit might be too much to hope for.

careful, Dash16 is gonna sneak up behind you, start hissing, and.... BLAM!! ;)
