  1. Just a suggestion, I like to use the following programs to avoid turtle loss. The uTurn programs are older and not as well-designed to avoid barriers/blockages, but they'll make a u-shaped tunnel, and arrive right back on the main tunnel from which you sent them; the tL and tR are specially designed to run with a pair of turtles for maximum time efficiency. With the tL and tR you'll want to put approx. 7 torches in slot 16 (for every 50 blocks you dig forward) and they'll set the torches up while they run. For best results, run tL on the left turtle and tR on the right and give the right turtle about 5 blocks head start (otherwise tL will sometimes cross paths with tR and gobble it up). My preferred run would be 'tR 50', wait five blocks and then 'tL 50'. uTurnL = http://pastebin.com/hRNR3pDR uTurnR = http://pastebin.com/Y1rvmak6 tL = http://pastebin.com/DtbDmh64 tR = http://pastebin.com/jY9EXbQG
  2. Now that you remind me, I think I ran into this too. I believe I directly copied over from the official MFR thread when making that wiki page, so my apologies. It's a constant struggle with putting as much info as possible and putting only what I know about and have verified. I just updated the wiki to reflect the foods that I know. According to the Minecraft wiki you can also breed wolves using meat, but since I've not tried that in a breeder I didn't want to mention it.
  3. I think sometimes it also amounts to just bad luck. In a recent world I started I mined for HOURS in the nether, with tunnels from level 40 through 125 (I actually topped out at bedrock) and they extended 50+ blocks in every direction from my spawn point... and I didn't hit a single cavern, despite hearing ghasts taunting me and even shooting at me (not sure what was going on there). So I finally used MCEdit to see what was up and discovered that I had just missed a cavern by about 10 blocks.
  4. to the best of my knowledge, the wiki link (above) is the most up-to-date; at least, I hope so, since that's my edit.
  5. the only other advice I'd give is that a 5x5 pen is optimal; the chronotypers only pull from a 5x5 area and I had ridiculous amounts of overpopulation when I tried this on larger pens (9x9) because the chronotyper didn't pull all babies before they became adults. I tried limiting their space with fencing and that just caused other issues... so do lots of 5x5 pens and you should be good.
  6. no idea -- so I vote that you try it and let us know how it goes!
  7. which would be sad and yet somehow hilarious.
  8. good idea -- I prefer to bring along a Dimensional Door, but roughly same effect as a Linking Book. Thanks for updating the wiki!
  9. a search of "Getting Started" yielded many results -- the first pertinent one for you... http://forums.technicpack.net/threads/getting-started-guide.51115/
  10. okay -- and did you try deleting the .technic/hexxit folder and then running Hexxit?
  11. have you tried using Ctrl-Shift-Esc to check your Task Manager? I have similar issues and it always boils down to Hexxit sucking up all available RAM until it brings the system down (I've started it with anywhere from 1GB to 3GB of RAM and it eventually ends up at around 6GB which maxes out my available RAM -- since 1-2GB is consumed with Win7 and other background processes). To date I've not been able to identify why it does it or how to solve it. I've posted a Bug Report, but haven't gotten any responses there either. It occasionally happens when I play Tekkit, but happens much more regularly when playing Hexxit.
  12. seeing as how you're new here, you might want to avoid signing your posts (see the rules). While I've never used Optifine, there has been a lot of discussion about it in this forum; have you tried an Optifine search to see what comes up?
  13. Also, in the bug reports section you have to use the link near the top-left that reads "Submit a Bug Report". It's different than a typical post in that you have to click that link and fill out a form. (if you don't use that link that'll give you the 'insufficient permissions' error, or something like that)
  14. are you running any additional mods/plugins?
  15. Choose Hexxit in the launcher; should be that simple.
  16. sorry I'm not much help with it -- I just installed it on my new 1.1.8 world and my development has been very slow (which means no complex systems yet and no lag issues to really test against). when I get around to putting it on my 1.0.6 world I'll have a better understanding of the numbers you're seeing (because I have lots of pipes and an AE network); but at the moment you are probably more of an expert than me.
  17. If this is happening in both places (prof server and local server) then it sounds like it's more about your client. Of course, I'm still pretty much at a loss for what that tells us about your client. Have you had anybody else connect to both servers to verify this? Are you using any plugins? If so, have you tried disabling/removing them all? I would definitely leave Optifine and any other modifications out of the equation until you've verified that this is working well, then add things back in slowly until you notice the behavior start up again.
  18. some suggestions: (1) read these, (2) try posting in the right place.
  19. there are some video links on the wiki page for Applied Energistics (http://wiki.technicpack.net/Applied_Energistics), though that's hardly early-game material. I've enjoyed this set of videos as well as these. But there are so many that I'm sure there are many more good ones.
  20. haven't tried the send/receive thing, as it was so easy to slap on an ME Import Bus; but the Assembly Table will work automatically.
  21. someone in a different thread mentioned Tickprofiler. You drop the .jar file into your server's 'mods' folder and then put the lua program from this page onto one of your in-game computers and run it. I've set it up but not yet obtained useful info, but I admit I haven't tried hard. So no promises, but it might do the trick.
  22. are you sure you're getting nothing in the ".technictekkitmaincrash-reports" folder ?
  23. Have you tried reading the in-game manual? This site is not a whole lot different, but may make more sense to you: http://wiki.technicpack.net/Smeltery_Multi-Block_Structure
  24. He said this morning that it's under Technic modpacks: "JacksonCraft" Just go here and search for that name: http://www.technicpack.net/modpack/search
  25. hmmm, I know you said you watched a lot of tutorial videos, but just in case you haven't seen these, my favorites are: (although this is for pretty late in the game)
