  1. check out the wiki: http://wiki.technicpack.net/Invar_Blend
  2. well, you can power a Quarry with multiple Sterling Engines (but they're dangerous!) or Combustion Engines (also can be dangerous); I like Magmatic Engines for early in the game, as you can get a lot of good power by melting Netherrack in a Magma Crucible and using the Magma to power the engines. And if they overheat you just have to whack them (right-click) with a wrench to get them working again. But to really look long-term, I'd recommend a nice self-sustaining BioFuel setup and transmitting energy to your Quarry via an Energy Tesseract. Then send items back to your main base via an Item Tesseract. If you work it this way, you'll only need three blocks to run a fully functional Quarry and you can move it around with ease.
  3. I like to go for power generation and basic ore processing, so maybe a Steam Engine (or several) and Pulverizer/Powered Furnace/Induction Smelter? EDIT: Oh, and by the way... no need to sign your posts. We can see who you are and there are these rules...
  4. A couple questions for you: (1) I've never messed with adjusting ores; why do you need to balance them? what are you trying to accomplish? (2) I see reference to sapphire and ruby, etc... are you sure you're playing Tekkit (i.e., Tekkit Main), or are you playing Tekkit Lite? If so, you might want to check out the Tekkit Lite forum.
  5. you'll also find it on the official wiki -- http://wiki.technicpack.net/Tekkit
  6. my ghast spawner is only one block below my grinder and I haven't had any problems: http://imgur.com/bNB8aOU
  7. Have you extracted all the files? Once extracted, running launch.bat *should* do the trick and it will create the necessary server.properties file (if it's not already part of the extracted set). Then you can edit them appropriately. Just to be certain, are you on a Mac or PC?
  8. oh, that makes so much sense -- I'll have to take a look at the settings again.
  9. Are you talking about connecting it directly, or via some sort of energy conduit? If you run energy conduit, it can supply power to multiple machines (if no conduit, then it has only one "business end"). The real bottleneck is just how much MJ/t the engine provides and how much your machines need. The Steam Engine provides 2 MJ/t, last I saw. If you're trying to figure out which conduit to use, I prefer Redstone Energy Conduit to Buildcraft Conductive Pipes, but that seems to be a largely personal preference, especially with big changes on the horizon as we look forward to an eventual new release/upgrade. And the Conductive Pipes are built with cheaper resources, if I remember correctly.
  10. I think it's a glitch that has to do with destroying blocks with the Power Fist; I haven't had it happen to me in a while (I started a new server since then), but I think destroying blocks with the Power Fist will 'treecapitate' any wood connected to it. Not even sure it has to do with the mod, but it might. You might try destroying a wood block (in a test case, of course) with just an axe and see if it works better.
  11. you sure it's oil and not sludge?
  12. okay, if you really want to use diamond blocks then I can understand what you're doing with a minium stone. ;)
  13. This has been extensively covered in this forum -- rather than rehash it, I encourage you to do a search for the discussion. And you may try the wiki for ideas on how to approach the new mix of mods.
  14. I like attaching an ME Interface directly to the Harvester; that seems to have no trouble collecting whatever is put out.
  15. click on the words Tekkit Classic forum.
  16. call me crazy, but you might try posting your request in the Tekkit Classic forum.
  17. How are you transferring the items into your storage network? I just logged onto my server and watched a rubber tree get cut down and the rubber count go up. Is it possible you're filtering them out somehow? Or maybe redirecting them? Are you using AE, Buildcraft Pipes?
  18. it should get rubber -- really, any drops from harvested trees.
  19. Out of curiosity, what's the need for Minium shards? Once I got a BioFarm set up and Quarries running I've not had a great use for my Minium Stone. I have maybe 60+ shards and haven't yet used up my first Minium Stone. Am I missing out on something?
  20. however, using bonemeal with a dispenser into dirt is a nice way to automate flower generation
  21. Modular Powersuits has an amazing glove (http://wiki.technicpack.net/Power_Fist); once equipped with a power pickaxe it slices through everything like butter (well, almost). It's not quite a mining drill, but it's fast. Of course, you need to power the fist, etc.
  22. I'm assuming you're playing Tekkit Lite, as that's the MC version number for it. But you're posting in the Tekkit (a.k.a. Tekkit Main) Forum, so I'm not really sure what the situation is. Maybe that's related to your issue? Or else the server just reverted back to Tekkit Lite.
  23. click on it, select Save and when you run it it'll automatically adjust MC and the mods for that build.
  24. what *should* happen is you click the gear beneath Tekkit, make sure to check "Manually select a build" and then you should have a scrollable list that includes several builds from 1.0.2 to 1.1.10. You would probably want 1.0.6. If you're not seeing it, I'm at a loss, as I just checked mine and it's clearly there. Perhaps you could list which builds *are* available and that might give a hint as to where your problem lies.
  25. yeah, if a Quarry is too much work for you then you might be a little bit lazy. You might try a Laser Drill from MFR, but they take gobs of power from what I understand (haven't yet gotten around to building one myself). If I understand correctly, you put in some laser foci (6 per Laser Drill) to identify the type of ore you want to generate. I guess if you're feeling crazy you could try to power multiple Laser Drills. But the power required might just make a Quarry seem more reasonable.
