  1. you don't 'need' to do it that way, but it allows you to share a single Magma Crucible/Liquid Transposer/Induction Smelter across a number of crafting jobs; not the simplest setup, but a fun one to figure out. Not sure what you mean about different levels of Redstone batteries, though I've not yet gotten around to looking at the recent beta release. Using the specific example of an Energy Cell Frame (Full), I have a recipe stored in my subnetwork that 1 Energy Cell Frame (Full) is crafted from 1 Energy Cell Frame (Empty) and 40 parts Redstone. When it gets to crafting that, it'll drop the exact amount of redstone and a frame into the subnetwork, the redstone will be melted and dropped into the Liquid Transposer along with the Cell Frame and out pops a finished Energy Cell Frame (Full). I remember trying this as part of a regular network and that it didn't work as smoothly as I liked, though I can't exactly recall why it was giving me problems; maybe it had to do with needing the recipe to throw out items and then needing to route them with pipes to get to the correct locations. In a subnetwork, you can assign various machines as 'storage' and the various resources will be dropped into place for you without the need for pipes. Or for my ender pouch, if levels get below a certain threshold (e.g. a full stack) in the linked ender chest they'll send a crafting/transfer request to the main network for more supplies to be brought in. The only problem I've had with that is that when the server starts up or possibly if there are any adjustments made to the network (causing a network reset) it'll often transfer an extra item each time and I'll eventually end up with a full stack + 3 of each item... a bit annoying, but still nice to have an ever-present ender pouch with all my basic travel/construction necessities.
  2. furthermore, you can do some cool stuff with subnetworks and autocrafting to keep an ender pouch full (for example) or to assist with crafting of more complex items (like Redstone Energy Cells, etc.).
  3. out of curiosity, did you try searching the forum for this? a bit lower down on the same page as your post you'll notice this exchange: http://forums.technicpack.net/threads/server-help-launcher-and-java.56140/ don't get me wrong -- I'm happy to help; but I do get the impression that people don't look very hard.
  4. yes, you have to wade through a couple of pages of posts, but it's definitely been asked before... http://forums.technicpack.net/threads/equivalent-exchange-1-0-6.47156/ short answer -- EE3 is being revamped and is *very* barebones at the moment; you can find all you need to know (which isn't much) over at the wiki -- http://wiki.technicpack.net/Equivalent_Exchange_3
  5. I think you'd be better off posting this question here: http://forums.technicpack.net/forums/platform-pagoda.84/
  6. that's how I read his post at first, but then I thought perhaps he just means the 'vanilla' component of the launcher; not sure at this point which he means.
  7. To echo what dwwojcik said, we do get a lot of folks that know a lot about Tekkit Classic and just aren't paying attention to what forum they're in or what is included in the current 'main' Tekkit. Definitely give the wiki a look, as it should explain all the resources you need (e.g., that Plastic sheets come from Raw Plastic, which comes from Rubber bars, which comes from Raw Rubber). If you do find gaps, of course, then let us know. I know there's more that needs doing, but I've hit a long and lazy patch where I haven't touched the wiki...
  8. When you scroll to vanilla Minecraft on the left, there is a little gear beneath the icon. Clicking it should give you a menu where you can select which MC version you want to run; by default, it *should* be 1.7.2 - latest, but you possibly manually set it at some point and need to readjust it.
  9. A google of that error suggests it may be related to antivirus programs; do you have any running? If so, try disabling it/them and trying again. A couple other suggestions: (1) find and delete that 'loginTimes.dat' file, (2) make sure to run your client for Tekkit with at least 1GB of RAM (though that's probably already the case) Last suggestion, just to be sure... Open the folder where the server is. Right click on the server folder that contains all the files relevant to the server and select Properties. Make sure that the boxes that say Hidden and Read-Only are *not* checked, and apply the changes. and when you said you were back to square one, you only were replacing the one part of the launch.bat file, right? The rest of the code should stay the same except for those to parts with -Xms and -Xmx.
  10. Maybe change this part of the launch.bat file: "-Xmx1G -Xms512m" to this: "-Xmx2G -Xms1G" If you have 2GB of RAM to spare, it'll be better for your server. But I'm not sure if that's related or not. What you really need are the error log files from the crash. Try looking at your main server directory and see if you have anything interesting about a crash near the end of ForgeModLoader-server-0.log
  11. are you using any plugins? anything other than a straight-up Tekkit server? Try rebooting the whole system and re-running the server launch. It may help...
  12. variable name should *only* be Path. Then variable value should have C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin added to it There should already be a variable named 'Path' in your environment variables, to which you should add the directory info for your java installation
  13. Actually, I think it should be as follows... variable name: Path variable value: C:Program Files (x86)NVIDIA CorporationPhysXCommon;%SystemRoot%system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%System32Wbem;%SYSTEMROOT%System32WindowsPowerShellv1.0;C:Program Files (x86)IntelOpenCL SDK2.0binx86;C:Program Files (x86)IntelOpenCL SDK2.0binx64;C:Program Files (x86)Javajre7bin sorry if I was confusing earlier -- I just meant that you don't remove what's there but instead add to it.
  14. also, just to give you an example, on my Win7 system I have to go into Environment Variables, then System Variables (not the PATH stuff under User Variables), select "Path" and then choose "Edit..." There should already be a whole bunch of stuff in the "Variable value:" field from other installed programs. You don't want to change this -- just add a semicolon ( followed by the path to your java.exe file (on my system, the part I add is "C:Program Filesjavajre7bin", minus the quotes).
  15. you'll need the java path set so your OS can find the java executable -- instructions can be found here: http://www.java.com/en/download/help/path.xml as for launch.bat vs launcher, you might have extensions turned off; it sounds like it won't really matter, as long as the batch file can find java.
  16. Hehe, it's just one of the included mods. Having never used it myself, I don't know much, but it extends rails and carts to run harvesters, drills, etc. along laid track (sorta train-enginey).
  17. looks like it's got something to do with Steve's Carts; sorry, don't know much about those...
  18. this is a good place to start: http://wiki.technicpack.net/IC2RP2ReplacementGuide otherwise, just search the forums for IC2 as the conversations have been extensive (and somebody new is posting a question like this approximately once a month).
  19. Do you mean no nether at all? Because I don't think even a Lava Fab at 20kMJ/bucket is going to get you a net gain in MJ. The only way I know of is to use Netherrack in the Magma Crucible at a cost of 12kMJ/bucket of lava. If a Lava Fab would actually work, you'd be looking at a perpetual power generator requiring not much in the way of setup and absolutely no maintenance (nice, but I'm doubting it would be intentionally configured that way).
  20. bizarre, but glad you figured it out!
  21. Do you have access to the server files through multicraft? Because those three item IDs (glass panes, ice, and milk bucket) are all in the 'config/powercrystals/minefactoryreloaded/common.cfg' file and just happen to be side-by-side, so I think that's more than coincidental. If you can access the file, can you verify that lines 130-137 have VanillaOverride for those three items set to 'true'? I'm no expert on configs, but there's got to be something up with powercrystals and the error you're getting.
  22. and the rented server is definitely version 1.1.10?
  23. did you try TonyVS's suggestion of deleting your local 'C:Users(username here)AppDataRoaming.technic' folder and re-running TechnicLauncher?
  24. In case it's not as simple as deleting the config files, we should be clear on some more details in order to figure out what the problem is. I'm assuming you're running a server and client on the same machine...? If not, is the server local, or hosted somewhere else? If you're running 1.1.10, are you running the Tekkit.jar file found in the server files (downloaded HERE)? Then, when you run the TechnicLauncher, you're running 1.1.10 (as seen when you click the little gear to the bottom-left of the Tekkit icon)?
  25. hehe, isn't that the way it always is? Just to be clear, for some other poor guy in the same boat, running the server as admin was your issue? Not even sure I get that, but good to know... maybe it was more of a firewall issue. You've been running Garry's Mod as admin, I take it?
