Storage Cells, Magmatic Engines and Management
weirleader replied to H4RV3Y's topic in Tekkit Discussion
If I'm understanding what you're looking for, you might take a look at this thread. We discussed exactly that issue, with somewhat different on/off criteria, and it was enough to get my system set up in that way. I think there's a latch explanation in there somewhere, but if you find you need more info let me know. -
are you playing on a server or single-player? To the best of my knowledge, in either way it is possible to just bring along your map. I did it for our server, at least. Galacticraft is different; updating it might require updating the Minecraft version and certainly would have potential repercussions for other mods. If you feel comfortable with trying it, testing it, and maybe making some modifications to block IDs, etc. then you might go for it. But you'd want to make sure whatever version of Galacticraft works with Minecraft 1.5.2 (if you're running Tekkit 1.1.5) or Minecraft 1.5.1 (if you're running Tekkit 1.0.6). For me it's easier to just let the smart and talented folks who have put it together update it when the time is right... but that's partly because I just don't have the time to really dig into it to know what's what.
-
is it on the same computer that you're playing from? Can you see/ping that server? Can you access files from it...? Need more details on the setup
-
did you make a bug report at that link above? that's more likely to get you a fix, I'd think.
-
cook it again and you'll get raw plastic, then craft four of them together in a square and you'll have plastic sheets... so when it gets dark you'll have something to snuggle up in. Oh, and maybe check out the wiki... do what looks interesting to you.
-
LOL -- guess I should get out more. All I know is Tekkit and a little bit of Hexxit.

Clearing out a LARGE Area and creating epic stone stairs

if you want to see video of it, check this out. -
hmmm, since we're just talking hypothetical, I think it'd be cool to have some sort of multiblock structure (Star Trek's transporter room meets the Molecular Assembler Chamber) that had to be operated by a player to transport other players to/from specific coordinates. It could harness the power of Ender (as Kiwi points out) to do so and when you teleport in/out it could have the swirly glitter effect from ST. and the fact that it had to be manually operated would be an interesting touch... you could tell the operator your coordinates or, even better, wear some sort of device that located your position (yep, Star Trek again). Man, I wish I had the first clue about modding!

thanks! Looks great. At first run, my Artifice pavers went screwy; but restarting Hexxit seemed to have done the trick. I'm surprised how good the pack looks for 32x.
-
Do you have any recommendations? I find Sphax tremendously better than the default but am always open for suggestions.

You know that post at the top of the 'Tekkit Discussion' page? In it, it links to the most up-to-date server download. Either link should get you set up with Tekkit 1.1.5 which uses MC 1.5.2

I'm wondering if I'm having a similar problem (after playing for a while I get severe lag at roughly 30-second intervals... I'm guessing due to low RAM), but maybe I don't know enough about Java. In-game, it says it's allocated 2GB to Hexxit and only currently using something between 35-40% of that allocation. BUT when I look at the javaw.exe process that is how I see Hexxit show up in my Task manager, it says nearly 4GB and that's (I believe) causing the lag and nearly maxing out my system (I have a total of 8 GM, but with a Hexxit server at about 1GB and Win7, it's at around 3.7GB before I launch Hexxit. Is that normal for the process to not reflect what I'm seeing in-game? I've been running a Tekkit server and playing on the same system for months with no troubles... EDIT: it's now gone beyond 4GB; I just exited the game because it was getting near 5GB dedicated to it and I figured it'd crash soon... and while I'm sitting here on the forum it has increased to nearly 5.5GB (I logged out but didn't close down). So two more questions: (1) is it normal for it to maintain all that memory when it's just at the main menu?, and (2) why would it be increasing if I'm not in-game?

I've done something similar, though it's been a while. What you need to do is use a RedNet controller and combine multiple functions. For example, create a square wave pulse with a period of 12 seconds (or 24 if it's 12-up 12-down) and then attach a counter to that. Finally, after a specific count you activate another pulse to turn on and perhaps yet another pulse to turn off. It depends on how particular you want to be. So, vaguely to attempt to summarize: (1) PRC function 1 -- square wave with max up/down timing (2) PRC function 2 -- counter based on output from (1) (3) PRC function 3 -- signal on based on output from (2) (4) PRC function 4 -- if necessary, to signal off again; though you might be able to just have it cycle on/off with the same period based on function (3). I'll go back to my setup and try to remember how it all works. ******************************************************************* EDIT: okay, here's more exact info on what I did: (for maximum time extension, I used longest-period wave) function 1 Wave (Square) [Timer] Pd = CNST / 255 Q = VARS / 0 (then, attached a counter, outputting a signal to VARS 1 after 4 loops of above; you can configure that to whatever number of loops works for your timing) function 2 Counter INC = VARS / 0 (fires when receiving a signal from above (1)) DEC = CNST / 0 PRE = CNST / 4 Q = VARS / 1 V = NULL (then, attached a pulse lengthener because I wanted it to stay on for a while; output went to VARS 2) function 3 Pulse Lengthener I = VARS / 1 (fires when receiving a signal from above, (2)) L = CNST / 255 O = VARS / 2 function 4 Input = VARS / 2 (fires when receiving a signal from above, (3)) do with it what you need to do... not sure what gate you're going to want

according to this, they only drop if the mob is killed by a player; you *might* try getting a Turtle to kill them, as I know Turtles do something wacky in the background to 'spoof' being a player, but that's a longshot.

wow, dwwojcik, you just graduated to sainthood in my book.

need help with deployer not placing lava
weirleader replied to peeves91's topic in Tekkit Discussion
is there a Deployer in Tekkit? I couldn't find it. Do have an additional mod installed? Since I can't test it, I'll just take a stab and say you're probably right about it being under a pump; try putting a Deployer (or maybe several) to place lava adjacent to the pump main line (i.e., offset by one). Maybe if you placed lava around it then it would create a pool from which it could pump. I know that pumps grab water from spots not actually directly beneath, so perhaps that would be the solution to your dilemma. -
to get the vine scaffolding, just upgrade to 1.1.5
-
yeah, if it's telling you it's 1.6.2 then it's probably a vanilla Minecraft server
-
to the best of my knowledge, there's not much that's Creeper-proof. I feel like there was a thread a long ways back where somebody was testing the various materials... you'll have to look for it. Obviously Obsidian, and maybe Hardened Glass???
-
These are your options: Tekkit 1.0.6 (which runs Minecraft 1.5.1) Tekkit 1.1.5 (MC 1.5.2) Tekkit Lite (MC 1.4.7) Hexxit 1.0.5 (MC 1.5.2) Big Dig (MC 1.5.2) Tekkit Classic (MC 1.2.5) Hack/Mine (MC 1.2.3) Voltz (MC 1.4.7) or just download and run Vanilla 1.6.2; as you can see, none of the modpacks are even close... these things take time!

I also know that the NEI recipes were shrunk by omitting a bunch of 'basic' recipes for microblocks that took up a lot of space. And there's definitely a progression from stirling/steam engines to combustion and/or magmatic engines, not to mention trying to automate them; on top of that there's a progression from standard furnace to Thermal Expansion machinery and then eventually working up to an Applied Energistics network which is awesome but resource-intensive. Besides all of that, there's Galacticraft, Dimensional Doors, and Mystcraft for exploration. I still haven't really figured out Mystcraft more than a few highly screwed up 'Ages'. And then MFR farming, getting a BioFuel setup running (for crazy amounts of power)... and the new Atomic power stuff sounds fun, even if it doesn't seem to compete with BioFuel for energy production. The list keeps going...
-
oooh, hadn't seen that before, but I like it!
-
I have often wanted to do the same thing but, to the best of my knowledge, your only real option is to fill by hand. Sounds like a great idea for a mod!
