  1. Tell me everything. Right now.

    1.8?

But FTB is also computer-meltingly resource intensive, so I would say it's not a direct competitor to Tekkit.
  3. Untill I hear an official statement from Microsoft on their plans for the future of modded Minecraft, I'm bracing for the worst. But then, I am a rather pessimistic creature.
  4. Hopefully this doesn't mean that all 'old' versions will no longer be available. Hopefully Microsoft won't kill the modding comunity and try to replace it with paid DLCs. Hopefully Minecraft won't soon be covered in a mile-thick layer of DRM. That's what I hope, but it seems damn unlikely. If they had to sell, they should have sold to Valve. [expletives]
  5. I had a similar problem some time ago. When I was in a certain area and looking a certain direction I got massive frame rate drops for no appearant reason. I had just started that world, so I simply deleted it and started over. Haven't seen the problem since then. I didn't make a tracker post on it then because I lacked any substantial info on what was causing it. I hope you manage to find a solution sicne deleting an established world is no fun.
  6. qCraft portals also does not work interdimensionally. Sadly there's no setting that makes cooling the qPortal configurable. I can't really see why it's needed in the first place; just makes an annoying and pointless mod even more so.
  7. 1. Eary game I use the Minium Stone to get ender pearls. Once you stumble upon a Division Sigil in a dungeon chest you can make a small mob grinder that will keep you supplied forever. 2. Nope. Laser Drills is pretty much the only thing that can use that ammount of power. I guess the Particle Accelerator uses a fair bit too, but the only thing it is used for is Antimatter. And Antimatter is utterly useless. 3. Personally I tend to keep things at a pretty small scale. A single quarry is usually enough to keep things running. Other people make larger things. 4. Get a silk touch pick and go Redstone mining. Pulverize redstone ore to get Cinnabar. Combine Cinnabar and Ferrous ore in an Induction Smelter to get a guaranteed shiny ingot. Another way to get redstone for pulverizing is quarrying the nether, since Nether Redstone Ore smelts into two regular redstone ores. 5. Fill your quarry with Destabilized Redstone. Works just like water but doesn't evaporate in the nether. Looks pretty cool too. 6. Start looking into Applied Energistics. It can be used to automate pretty much everything. Also Modular Force Field System is pretty cool.
  8. I don't understand where the 'balance' of EE3 is broken. Sure, you can use the Minium stone to make diamonds from cobblestone, but the Minium stone takes 8 diamonds and some gold and iron to make. It runs out of durability before making that many resources, unless you start higher up in the 'transmutation chain', that is, by using an obsidian generator or something similar. This is of course only relevant to EE3, but EE2 is dead and thus irrelevant to discuss. Or am I missing something?
  9. Indeed. That is why I asked. My inquiry was regarding its inclusion in the Tekkit pack. I know I could just add it in myself, but I am motivationally challenged (can't be arsed) when it comes to such things. Also, multiplayer.
  10. Is Extra Utilities being considered for an update? We've been sitting on 1.0.2 for ages now, and several additions have been made since then. I've been looking forward to use the Ender Quarry, so that I can leave the faltering carcass that is Buildcraft behind.
  11. Some of the functionality of IC2 is present in the mods Mekanism and Resonant Induction. Now, none of them are in Tekkit, but if you choose to make your own pack they may be worth looking into. Unless I'm mistaken, the version of Extra Utilities in which those were introduced is not in Tekkit yet, though I hope it will be added soon.
  12. Have you downloaded both the Tekkit texture pack and the vanilla one, unzipped them, mashed them together and zipped them back down again? If you've done this and it still doesn't work, I have no idea why it's not working. Sphax does not allow people to ship their mod texture packs with the vanilla included, so that people have to get the vanilla from his page and give him admonies.
  13. The overheating is probably from the Advanced Solar Panel. It is bugged and should be avoided untill it is fixed. Your other problem is a bit odd. I have never played with keep inventory, but try to do the same thing again, that is die while wearing power armor and see if it goes bonkers again. If so, congratulations, you've found a bug, and you should post about it in the tracker as that is where bugs should go. To reset the color, simply go into the coloring GUI and change it back to white. As far as I know there's no other way to do it.
  14. Another thing worth noting about fusion reactors. The electromagnets resist plasma, however, they do not do this while being moved by Redstone In Motion. The sad reality is that you can't make a plasma burner-crawler. The electromagnets burn up when they move.
  15. Not sure if sarcastic. I was starved for materials and I tried, simply enough. If you're rich, tesseract. If you're poor, Extra Utilities Transfer Pipes. Just plug an Energy Node and a Liquid Node in, and one pipe will supply both.
  16. Did you know you can save electromagnets on your fusion reactor by building it against bedrock?
  17. Name: Inefficiency Star Purpose of construction: Low power, low maintenance, high inefficiency energy generation. How it works: This beautiful device uses Buildcraft Redstone Engines to produce RF. Since Redstone Engines are so simple, they are not intended to be able to transmit power, and they usually refuse to do so. However, if you connect them directly to an Extra Utilities Energy Transfer Node, they will. What I especially like about it: This thing takes a quite a bit of resources to make. The energy nodes require a couple of ender pearls each, for example. The power output is just slightly more than you get out of a single dynamo; it hovers just under 90RF/t. Still, when set up it requires nothing, and will happily chug away forever. Like a poor (and silly) man's fusion reactor. It also looks really cool.
  18. Should work. Here is a link to the Galacticraft wiki: http://wiki.micdoodle8.com/wiki/Moon#Time_and_Conversions
  19. I'd say your best bet is not to bother with Galacticraft, but if you insist then yes, waiting out the night is the least bad option. The lunar night is designed to make the moon unplayable for half of the day/night cycle.
  20. The lunar day lasts for 80 minutes, as does the night. It is synched with the phases of the moon as seen from the surface of the overworld. The lunar dawn coincides with the full moon, so that would be the optimal time to launch if you wish not to be molested by space monsters as soon as you land.
  21. When night falls on the moon, not only the light from the sky deminishes, so does the light from most light emitting blocks as well. This means that no matter how well lit your lunar base is during the day, it will still be swamped in monsters at night. I think lava still gives the normal ammount of light. It's just another instance of complete bullshit that whoever made Galacticraft thought was a good idea. It's like lack of enjoyability is an intentional design choice. This, plus the fact that Galacticraft refuses to play nice with most other mods in Tekkit makes me think we might be better off without it. </RANT>
  22. I have to disagree with you there. If you are looking for a weapon enchant you want to be enchanting a gold sword, and then use an auto-disenchanter to get the enchantment onto a book. This way you wont be getting 9000+ books with armor enchants. What about renaming? Can the auto-anvil do that?
  23. If what you want is a system that waits untill a certain tank is full, and then proceeds to dump any excess fluid the following may work. Use any of the Termal Expansion tanks as your "detector" tank. If you place a vanilla comparator with its back to the tank, it will output a redstone signal relative to the percentage of the tank fullness. Use another TE tank as a valve by applying the signal from the comparator to it. This way the system will wait untill the detector tank is full, then send a redstone signal to change the valve tank into output mode. Stick a Nullifier under the valve tank for stylish fluid disposal. It maybe even work better if the detector and valve tanks are one and the same. Haven't tried building this, but in theory it should work.
  24. The question is valid. Is there a way to filter un-bucketable fluids, not only in Extra Cells, but in the UI for Fluiducts and similar too?
