  1. Did you know that the Division Sigil activation ritual sacrifice must be made with an vanilla sword? No other modded tools should work in that case. Got info about Power Tool from MPS working here so that looks like only Redstone Asenal tools are no go. Keep in mind the resulting cursed earth properties.
  2. Don't overheat your Powersuit. If you finally have the parts for the jetpack and other handy add-ons to your newly created suit don't leave home for a test ride without some kind of cooling. Water tank and/or Cooling System is a must, if you are flying over a desert or hovering in the nether disable the kinetic generator (I hear solar generator can also heat you up) . I luckily had fallen to a lake while jetpacking and it got the fire extinguished. If you need more info on overheating - ask Curunir, he's an expert in that matter
  3. Go to config directory, go to buidcraft then open main.conf in notepad or some other text editor. Search for the line: # set to true if the Pump should consume water B:consumeWater=false Change the false to true and your good to go with the pump network. Save the file and restart client/server. Try the Fluid Void Pipe. I'm currently wondering about the Fluid Void from Extra Utilities. No clue how does it work. I've been so used to gravel the place down. Edit: You are going to cause massive lag with the water.
  4. Don't try mining the Deep Dark / Underdark close to bedrock levels. Don't fall to the vertical pits visible in the main cave, there are holes in the bedrock to the void. If you want to mine there go with a quarry and a jetpack for travel. Remember the torches as it's dark there. Painfully dark.
  5. Don't get curious in pocket dimensions. If you die there in the contraptions that Digdug83 mentioned above, you'll be transported to the Limbo. This is a strange, creepy place with dark colouring and the sounds there will give you the chills. Red eyes (Monoliths) will hunt you there and teleport you to another place in Limbo - usually higher. There are dark blocks there composing a platform based world, if you fall to a lower level you wont get fall damage. If you'll get transported there try to quickly get down to a lower level and find a pool that looks like it was made out of portal blocks and jump there, you'll be transported to the overworld. This isn't easy with he teleporting and the terrifying mood that this world gives you. This is the worst place to get lost. If you find a way out (before you starve) you wont be near your home so keep in mind the minimap waypoints when building an overworld shelter, this can save you.
  6. Wrong launch script. Launch.bat or launch.sh is the right way. Further info on the issue tracker. Find it and post there. This is not the place for this topic.
  7. Yes but be sure about dynamo/conduit/fluiduct placement inside loaded chunks. I, personally, would put a chunk loading device there. Press F9 couple times when the pump is working.
  8. Don't spill your milk... I'm serious. If you are always carrying a bucket of milk by your side in vanilla minecraft for the poisonous spiders, witches and other negative status effects you've better look up the new milk bucket + bottle recipe in NEI. I didn't. Got a bucket of milk and tried to drink it.. in my base full of torches and with the vertical ladder shaft to the mine in early game. Milk got spilled, torches got wiped in the base, the basement, ladders in the shaft and the mine entrance below got dark. Had the torches put again, a creeper waited for me in the now dark basement.. Had blown the power conduits... Then I decided to go down the ladders. Had fallen to my death as there were no ladders there any more. Couple of 'F%^$' were here and there and everywhere. Milk is dangerous, you know.
  9. Hi there guys. Reading through the newest threads in here reminded me my first glimpse in the modpack. The new stuff, new ore, machines, trials and... errors. That's right errors. Following the >starters guide by Curunir I wanted to alarm some new members and the vanilla minecraft players about all those dangers and tekkit specific things that can drive us nuts in our worlds. When on a server or singleplayer post danger, death threatening things, big errors and small mistakes with bad outcome that can happen and provoke a punch at the keyboard from time to time and all those 'Oh my God....' and other ('The F%&$ is this') words. Post your mistakes and the outcome. I would like that you keep it simple, one situation per post, a dangerous block, fluid or anything that can get you killed or furiously mad in all game levels. Didn't find any topic like that in discussion so here's one. I would like to start right from the beginning so here it goes: ---- Don't swim in any strange coloured lake you find, you can poison yourself or die. Be careful when jetpacking over them or drying out a quarry hole. These are Minefactory reloaded worldgen lakes and they are dangerous. You can turn on Waila liquids (NUMPAD2) to help identify them. I've tested them in very early survival and they were not healthy at all, killed me in seconds when my controls (for swim/jump) weren't set right. Even a Power Suit is not enough for their toxicity. ---- Hope you guys enjoy the thread.
  10. Been removing all day. Water is indeed tricky. The pump tries to drain the edge source blocks first (the farthest) and it has limited range (64 if I can remember correctly). Sometimes it will still leave a source block keeping the water regenerating. Put a drum on top of the pump it will be quicker but not guaranteed to drain all water. Test the pumps draining method in creative with different shapes and depths of the lake. I wait when the oil deposits are 2-3 blocks above quarry digging level, stop the quarry, dig a trench through 2 or 3 deposits (2-3 blocks through the bottom) and place the pump above the trench. I get 70-95% oil blocks with one pump placement, gravel for the rest. I'm very lazy.
  11. In my difficulty (Normal) they are pretty common. Whenever I went to the nether to levels above 120 and started a 64 long tunnel with empowered Redstone Arsenal Pickaxe for the quarry setup they always spawn. Always. It's the MPS keeping me out of harms way.
  12. Yes. That's what I did. They are called 'Blast resistant ME Drives.' Avoid them for now. Try to pull the items out and put them back again. Check the recipes again.
  13. Crap. Misunderstood. Nvm Let's stay on topic. Set NEI to recipe mode. That way you can left/right click an item and you'll get recipe for the item / recipes containing that item. Not spawning them like in creative (if in singleplayer). Press E then go to options -> inventory -> change cheat mode to recipe mode. I go for lockmode in the NEI config file not to get tempted changing it back to cheat mode.
  14. True. Although I'm also for testing a little bit all machines and not keeping only one path to the endgame. This is a sandbox game. All the paths are good. I had some trouble with the Deep Dark (chunk resets on ender chest/tesseract) and my early game level experience with fuel saved me.
  15. Visited the Nether in pre-MPS game level, had full iron armor. Looked up the Crucible recipe and mined 2 or 3 Netherrack... A swarm of Hellfish jumped out and started to set me on fire... Death was in the air. True story.
  16. Happened to me in one world. Nasty glitch. I've broke all blocks in that system (drives, controller, terminal) and put it up together again and it kept doing this. Put your drives close to the controller. Don't use the explosion resistant drives from extracells right at the beginning. If you say you have those items there, try to find them end take them to your inventory. I had ghost items in my terminal. When I tried to pull them they disappeared.
  17. I remember when my friend started to play on a tekkit server with me first time and found some oil... He stood there (in the game) , the oil was flowing and kept pushing him aside, no keyboard activity was visible at that time, then his characters head was starting to swing from me to the oil and me again. We used skype at that time and there was no sounds coming from him at all. Then he started.. Ekhm... your 'tekkit' is bugged... My water texture is broken.... Then was the 'Really?! Oil?!.....' conversation. Good times. Welcome Maxzn to tekkit. You have started a new era in minecraft. One suggestion: If you don't want to find out how the issue tracker works make mandatory backups of your singleplayer world ('saves' directory).
  18. Did you know that you can avoid the near bedrock fog and particles blinding you to see nothing under your base. Go ahead and build a skylight / roof window (or whatever you call them). Build a square of glass in your roof and some glass on the floor under the skylight for the sun to peek to your basement. No bedrock fog at low levels. Minimum one glass block in early game just above the vertical shaft with ladders will eliminate thick fog for several blocks underground. Level 2 above bedrock: Before: After:
  19. Look here: '?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>> and here: '?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>> Go for TE then MFR and then some more MFR and finally AE and other Don't forget MPS and RA. Grind Stone is very helpful at the start. Edit: Remember the chunk loading.
  20. We need to put it to the TeamCOFH irc channel
  21. Conduits work, energy cells work, tesseracts work on my controller. A tesseract on the reactor power tap is also working.
  22. I can put up a simple tutorial on linking books without going through the ages and crap, as for the DDoors I agree. Not stable, useless server memory usage. I once had an aversion to... laser drills. Times change, people change.
  23. If you want to teleport only yourself within overworld there's always mystcraf. 'Beam me up, Scotty' I've explained the basics in the 'Did you know?' thread. I can explain it more if you like.
