  1. Agree. Many mod authors decided to drop support for 1.6 with 1.7 releases.
  2. If you want turtles you will need a diamond pickaxe - it's in the recipe (not damaged). You can also forget the turtles and go for the diamonds to make a quarry. The choice is yours. Turtles break obsidian instantly, so does the quarry. Turtles need some coal but the quarry needs a lot of power. Again the choice is yours. Yes. you will need a computer for turtles. It's in the recipe. For the crash: (if you are in singleplayer only) download simply jetpacks version 0.1.4.1 (precisely this version) and put the jar in your mods directory. Delete the old 0.1.4 version. You can read about it here. Pulverize all ores - yes. Smelt the dusts - not all. You will need electrum, invar and some other stuff later. Look up in NEI the recipes for conduits, energy cells and strongboxes (the hardened and better versions). The rest is up to you. You will need to make some mistakes in-game for it to be fun/little dangerous. Try to drink milk with a bucket.. Do it outside Not in the base.
  3. This is in theory only. Every single SSD drive I've seen in work/home/at friends has been repaired by the manufacturer at least once and it lead to data loss. I'm talking here about the SandForce controllers.
  4. Yeah. It fits nicely. Squirrels on the moon... I can't wait
  5. When you right click with the backpack in hand you have additional inventory like a portable chest.. Be careful near lava when doing this because you may drop it. Edit: Later when you have more different materials you can make a strongbox, they are lava-proof. If you have 3 diamonds you can make a mining turtle. He will mine for you but you need to empty his inventory every 3-5 minutes or he will drop it on the ground. He needs some coal to work. Like 8 items of coal for a 3x2x128 tunnel. Steps in NEI: computer -> turtle -> mining turtle. Place mining turtle on the ground in front of a wall, right click, type tunnel 128 then take some coal to his inventory and press Enter.
  6. Remember to bring some wood underground and a backpack.
  7. Yes I agree. The prices are too high. I bought recently the smallest model for testing purposes. Not for the entire OS, just for some of the stuff. Works great.
  8. It's not a good idea to >ask devs ETAs. Pretend this never happened...
  9. The best solution for this that I know is a SSD drive.
  10. Go to ForgeModLoader-client-0.log to see what's loading in this time and how long does it take. FML has to unpack and check all the mods and their dependencies twice to start the actual game. Edit: I wonder what will java and FML do when the jars are compressed with the 'no compression' option like your zipping some folder and select the lowest compression setting. This will certainly get lower CPU readouts with FML loading mods but more actual disk reads.... This needs a test.
  11. Link. Go with the 1.6.4 version (v1.20.5) obviously. I hope there will be no ID conflicts....
  12. Good to know.... I know something that will change your mind. TE has no ducts for this time. You will need to go with another mod for energy/item/fluid pipes. Other devs got a ton of new users because of this and some of them are working very hard to get BigReactors live and connected.
  13. You can't move it. Edit: A wither can. Edit 2: Didn't know about RiM moving trick.
  14. Yeah. That's why I think globally now, not tekkit-only.
  15. Yes. They are next. You can also set NEI to recipe mode. That way you can left/right click an item and you'll get recipe for the item / recipes containing that item. Not spawning them like in creative (if in singleplayer). Press E then go to options -> inventory -> change cheat mode to recipe mode. While watching direwolf20 videos notice some difference in recipes. You can check actual tekkit recipe in NEI. Left/right click in recipe mode or press R or U hovering over the item in cheat mode. I didn't post Buildcraft spotlight because with a simple gameplay you need only two items: >quarry and a filler. Edit: As a beginner you should also visit this place. I guess Curunir has something on the topic in his starters guide.
  16. I forgot to post the second part of Thermal Expansion. Link MFR Link 1 Link 2 AE Link 1 Link 2 ExU Link 1 Link 2 MPS Link
  17. If you have problems with Thermal Expansion pipes and machines watch this in your free time.
  18. BR 0.4 is definitely for 1.7.10 only. It has a hard dependency on forge 1180 1198 (just found a bug here) and CoFH for 1.7.10 The dependency is also on the official site.
  19. Look in NEI for the itemducts. Press E, on the bottom of the screen in the text box start writing 'itemduct'. This and this is what I had in mind. This can be done with the opaque itemducts also. They are cheaper. The vanilla chest is the input and the items are sorted to the (iron chest mod) other chests. One chest is for food, one for ores......... The last chests on the ducts (the ones on the left) need to be without filtering so any item that is not filtered goes there. You can add a filter by making a 'pneumatic servo' and right clicking with it in hand on the connection with the chest and click again with empty hand for the filters GUI.
  20. Can you elaborate on the Mekanism - Atomic Science issues? I wasn't around and cannot find any info about it. Edit: Resonant Induction and Mekanism are both part of Resonant Rise and I don't see any issues on their forums.
  21. TE4 is out for some time now. Still in beta. IC2 is always in experimental when new minecraft version mods are forming and going out of beta, like right now. In the next few months every big mod will end beta and have pretty stable versions for 1.7.10 when IC2 is warning about breaking worlds with experimental for some time now. ATLauncher already went 1.7.10, FTB has an unstable pack. If those hit stable-ish and IC2 will still be in experimental..... One personal thing: Today I posted 2 issues/sugestions on 1.7.10, they were basically identical for two different mods - IC2 and MFR (common rubber wood). On MFR I was listened and my issue was labelled, on IC2 I was laughed at.... the issue was closed right away without resolving. Little difference.. Edit: Every modpack needs an **Ore Processing** mod. Which one would that be? - depends on it's state and the modpack devs humour. IC2, TE, EIO, Mek, GregTech, Factorization they all have machines, you give them power, you get ingots. Now lets all think - which one would you choose if you were a modpack author? Have you got the time to test them all... or play them all?
  22. Redstone Arsenal tools maybe. You need some resources for that. Modular Powesuit tool is also great. You only need Redstone Flux (Thermal Expansion, BigReactors) compatible power sources/transmitters and some Energy Conduits for the power distribution.
  23. Upload a screenshot from the router port forward settings and post basic network config: IP, mask, gateway, router IP. Post the TCP/IP settings of your machine also. Cover personal data in screenshots if there are any. Does your ISP provide real public IP or is this some kind of NAT?
  24. If you like crash reports you can have tons of them. Press C and F3 (in that order) while in-game for a manual debug crash. Warning: Don't get your world corrupted.
  25. The dynamos are full of surprises. You can fuel a reactant dynamo with sludge and sugar....
