  1. Could you not use a 2nd MFSu, with it's setting to be emit a signal when empty, invert it, and then have the first not emit when it has a signal? That would mean they would be all off untill the 2nd one runs out, at which point the 1st one would drain and they would all switch on
  2. Compact solars if you want people to build any other energy system. They do reduce server load, but they're so easy to move that people don't bother with any other energy source. (500 panels, while wiring them without losses, is quite a feat, and costs a /lot/ of time and energy to move) UU matter recipies other then uridum if you want to prevent everything endgaming at UU matter generation.
  3. Logistic pipes are generally the best, if you set them up right. But they are not in tekkit, and often impracitcally expensive. I was commenting on not using raw buildcraft more then saying Redpowers the best solution.
  4. If I recall right, when connected to a pipe, it will take as much as it takes to fill the pipe with energy. Generaly, it will take the max packet size. When connected directly to a machine it takes only the amount needed for the machine, but you get a stuttery operation. Not used them myself, so I can't varify, I would recomend testing yourself.
  5. I think it's supposed to all go up on the q-tubers youtube channel, they don't have that time frame up yet. I think they might have it in their twitch too? Though I'd be loathe to check through myself.
  6. I suspect it's the alert system that aids it. I had to go check what the thread title was because frankly I'm just tab opening and replaying to threads I'm following ^^' And Direwolfs poisiton is an enigma thats kinda intresting when you consider it. More so then whatever this thread was about ^^'
  7. I thought it was 10MJ per quarry (two combustion engines)
  8. EE3 is also trying to deal with it's OWN balance, as well as it's balance with other mods. Lets be honest, it's got a rapid exponential curve, and was never designed for a miltplayer enviroment which actualy reduces the enjoyment of meny of the items in it. EE3 is also about making each item ahve it's wow factor, rather then just being a stepping stone. I mean the stone itself is an AMAZING item (convert types of blocks and mobs) but it's usualy just a stepping stone on the way to the condensor and table because it doesn;t feel difficult to get, The lesser stone idea and redwater looks /so cool/ though. Can't wat for EE3. As for current science vs tech.... it's a nice idea, but the current modset doesn't lend itself well to it. frankly, Soon as someone gets forcefeilds and nukes it is over. The server that is. No one wants to play when all their stuff is being /that/ basly trashed.
  9. ....With a diving rod, and knowlege of how the mod works, I bet you could do it in 4-5 hours tops. The problem with EE is it runs on a diffrent pardime to everything else, and the condensor. Preriod. The problem with it is it's almost always a short cut. Why build a reactor cooling system or stable reactor, when you can just condense ice? Need the iridum armour? peice of cake when diamonds stop beign scarce. Strgling to find your first few diamonds? Macerate one from coal, get the diving rod and laugh all the way home. Sorting system? Why bother, just EMC everything. And thats just the intermod interactions. Also, buildcraft pipes are awful. And a good way to lose a world. A quarry worth of items leaking out of a pipe are usualy more then a client can handle. Use redpower tubes and sorting machine. Takes a tiny bit more investment in resources and working it out, but it becomes 100X simplert the moment you try to do soemthing more complex with buildcraft then pipe items from A to B with leaky output.
  10. The problem that guy has is he can't say anything either way, just /tagging/ it is enough to cause the usual comment wars, he relies /hevely/ on his connection with the mod authours to get his content (his SMP playthorugh for example). It would be like Total Busicut pissing off every inde dev, or the yogscast stopping doing minecraft entirely. It's not going to happon because they would lose their fans and revenue. I do have to disagree it's to his loss to not do tekkit, he's doing all the mods in tekkit and then some, the very basis of his main series is tekkit and more. And I'm pritty sure it was the same before all the tekkit hate went nuts. I'd love to know what he really thinks. But he's been /very/ good at not saying /much/ either way. I have to give him some credit for managing not to make a bad situation worse without pissing off the mod authours or his fanbase. (You should of seen them during the charity livestream, there were just a billion people spamming 'stop asking already it's not tekkit'... when no one ever asked. So meny sheep and people without their own opinions *shudders*) Either way, the guy's videos result in a /lot/ of extra tekkit players, and help a lot intoducing some of the mods. Which is always nice <3. Heck, the biggest argument I give for tekkit is 'Direwolf20 has put the instructions for isntalling his pack, with no problems it's a couple hours+ easly of downloads, adfly links, checking for issues, as you try to download and install 60+ downloads individualy. Or you can spend 5 mins downloading tekkit for 90% of the content. It summeries nicely the reality of 'how hard' it is to download install and get the correct compatability of that meny mods. It's time consuming at the very least.
  11. Regulator attached directly to the bottom, with X scrap in the right hand side, thus causing it to give a redstone signal while X or more scrap is present is the best I can think of.
  12. Aye, thats an Iorn gate with some pipe wire on what looks like a structure pipe, from buildcraft 3. Not in tekkit/technic as far as i am aware.
  13. The sheer power of fuel means that it's optimal to actually /use/ fuel in it's own production. If you get it running full whack (two fuel based combustion engines if I recall right) it processes it very quickly. You need a /lot/ of steam or a rediculious amount of red stone engines to achieve the same.
  14. Buckets are fine in a filter. If the empty bucket stays in the main inventory however I suspect you will have to attach a 2nd filter to the side (or perhaps even the bottom) to get the empty buckets out, as the top only pulls the item in the crafted slot. Most machines use what I think is a 'i-sided' inventory if I recall the term right. The top, bottom, and sides usualy corespond to 3 diffrent inventories. Now, I must /highly/ recommend you don't tripple post. Use the edit function. Your already kellered, and we won't be able to help if you're probated for rule breaking.
  15. That last setup at least rules out a lack of inventory. make sure the crafting table is a MK II, and make sure there is at least 2 copys worth of the materials inside of it.
  16. I've not heard him say much on the subject. If I recall during the Q-Tubers charity stream Notch asked him if he had used it, and he didn't say much. I suspect he's staying out of it, because he likes certain mod authours, but certain mod authours are also kinda dicks, so it's a messy as anything position to take which could tear his sub base in half.
  17. Just put a chest on the pipe next to the filter /somewhere/ so you can test if the item can be extracted.
  18. You can have decay without high ore, but I'm pritty sure high ore auto adds enough instability to cause decay no matter what (The balancing factor for it) They're still rediculiously unbalanced if you use the max of them and then use any mas mining tool. cobble becomes rarer then the ore <3
  19. Frankly, I rank /creative mode/ as a harder way to get a lot of diamonds then EE, just because the condenser can make em faster then I can move stacks to chests. I think the whole point is to /make/ an over engineered scrap machine here, else UU matter would be the obvious answer.
  20. I'd be tempeted to hook this up to a few cobble gens, get multiple recyclers and a longer then nessassary sorting system just to have a whole bunch of items floating around the pipes and a cool looking machine. The gold and diamonds would be a nice bonus.
  21. This is usually the kind of thing handled by a community, or the original mod author. It might be a good idea for someone to add some of the other mods valuable blocks to it and see if we can get a community config file going. Balancing that kinda thing takes a long while.
  22. I think you'll find your save /is/ from serveral weeks prior to it closing. Concerting doesn't revert things, just occassionaly delete/'remove blocks when IDs conflict or forestry is removed e.t.c.
  23. How meny people for? beastnode has Paris servers up to the $20 package, if you contact their customer service they might be able to tell you if they're getting any more large ones there. They're pritty good at responding. Not used anyone else myself
  24. The main time I'll miss it, is every time I need to make an item 1-3 times. Project Tables and Auto-crafting are nice, but when your making some stupidly over convoluted recipe just once, it doesn't help. Honestly, a lot of this wouldn't be as bad if there wern't so meny rediculiously fiddly crafting chains. Mod authours tend to seriously over do it on unique components and 3rd-4th+ teir recipies. Manualy crafting /is really boring/.
  25. On older verisons (this may have been fixed, and I am only repeating what I have read) the CPU load of buildcraft was significant even when there were no buildcraft items at all (Passive checks for something?) On the World Ancors, the new server version has new ones separate from railcraft. It might be worth letting people have a few of them. My main thought is teleporters between bases would be an awsome way to get around in such a PvP server, but they require the chunk to be loaded. Honestly, the best thing to do if ou ask me is to see if your server can handle it, then tweak and optimise as needed. Especally if you can find a few people willing to teach people RP. Quarrys are far too popular for people to not miss, but Quarry -> buffer -> RP Tube can make light work of the load.
