  2. @op The tekkit devs don't just decide what mods to put in the pack. They look at all the bukkit ported mods and pick the best ones. Since no one can possibly know what mods will update and be ported until they are, there is no way of knowing what will be in the pack at least until the mods are updated. (disclamer: what I said about how the devs pick mods is my opinion and not necessarily fact. But whether or not its true isn't necessary for my argument. They can't have a mod that isn't updated and ported) I don't see how portal gun isn't extremely op. Aside from all the other things the mod adds, the ability to create portals from anywhere to anywhere at no cost is surely to powerful. I agree about GraviSuit though. Personally i just don't see how Mystcraft can function on a public server, too many opportunities for crippling lag and crashes. Minecraft is just not built to have dozens of different worlds. Logistics Pipes. Totally agree. This is very well designed mod that i look forward to using. I just hope it doesn't scare people away form tube systems. Thaumcraft. Agree. But its going to be interesting dealing with taint in a multiplayer environment. The reason there isn't one is that Eloraam doesn't like people messing with her code. But why do you want such a thing? Its plenty easy get EU's and harder to get blutricity.
  3. Um, what exactly are frame relays? There are frames, and there are relays, but i haven't heard of frame relays. In general, elloraam is a very good coder and i doubt there would be such a big bug in her code to eat up bandwidth like that. Best guess is that it was another mod that happened to stop when you tried to fix the problem. But that's a guess, I don't really know without a better description.
  4. I'm going to give this the same treatment i gave Greenwolf13's post, lets see if you can respond as well as he did. Bad idea. There are a number of reasonable, and unreasonable, arguments in this thread. Jumping in without reading all of it just means you will repeat all the same arguments that previous people did. This is your opinion. We have plenty of people offering their opinions. We know some people don't like it and some people do. Try to prove why it should be removed or not. Opinion. My opinion disagrees, can you prove that? What servers? Do you have any sources? Other than your opinion. Opinion again. How do you know this? Prove it. Actually, it does use energy, and it isn't fine. Do your research. It is my opinion that none of the major mods are intended for PvP. If you want a PvP server you will have to do a fair amount of balancing.(my opinion, not fact. I welcome counter arguments to this) EE3 is coming, that's a fact. Unless pahimar dies or something. I really have no idea exactly what changes it will have. We will see how it fits in. Ah, here is a correct application of opinion. The only statement in there is that something needs to be done, which I think we all agree on. Note: None of what i said means I specifically disagree with you. I'm just saying you proved absolutely nothing.
  5. Exponential, default, assessment, implemented. But I didn't know you were on your phone, so spelling mistakes are to be expected. Yeah, but i didn't see any facts that backed up what you said in the last paragraph. You gave some arguments on how it was OP, then concluded that it didn't belong in a modpack. Well, not just statistics, but references to other people's experiences and arguments. I look forward to it. Same.
  6. Well, I don't know about Adlersch, but I didn't think your comments were hostile. I was merely agreeing with Adlersch. Ok, I'm using "facts" a bit loosely here to imply facts that prove EE is OP. I am human is a fact, but its not relevant to the discussion. While this doesn't actually prove anything, we can consider Pahimar an expert on the mod and accept his opinion. However, this does nothing to say how it is overpowered. This doesn't prove anything and at most is a restatement of the above. This is not a fact. This is your opinion. EE does allow access to many powers that are different than creative. Some could be considered above and beyond creative. However, creative mode grants instant and unlimited access to all(well, most) items and blocks. Even with huge amounts of EMC you cant just pull out 30 Morningstars in 5 seconds with no effort. EE allows you to get powers that you cant get just in creative. Here is a good fact. Energy collectors and "Power Flowers" do create EMC out of nothing. I completely agree with you on this one. This is one of the things I consider OP in EE.(Note, this is my opinion, but I believe I could prove the point) Technically not. The player can use the EMC to replicate the power flower at an exponential rate. But close enough. This is kind of a sub point to the above. You could use a sugar cane farm and condensers to exponentially expand the sugar cane farm. While this is a fact, it is not really relevant to whether EE is OP. Until recently the mining laser's explosive mode bypassed protection plugins. But that doesn't make IC2 OP. This is actually not even EE's fault. It is due to improper porting by cpw that he hasn't had time to fix. Fact. However, I consider this minor and actually more useful than unbalancing.(Again, my opinion. But making them take a bit of klien star fuel would hardly change the balance at all) I don't have any facts on this, but I think transmuting is completely game breaking. See my posts on the topic earlier in this thread. Also on what Pahimar is doing about it. First, last i checked you can't change EMC values in the config. Second, most of this is your opinion. My opinion says that EE is OP on its own. While you didn't exactly back this up with facts, I completely agree. EE completely nullifies the helpfulness of many many cleverly implemented machines/techniques in the other mods. I know you're saying this as a summary to your whole post, but you didn't say any facts about why it doesn't belong. For instance, you could have given some examples on how it breaks multiplayer economies, or you could have given some statistics on how people get bored to easily compared to when EE isn't on a server. Note: Grammar and spelling go a long way towards credibility. I'm no grammar nazi, I'm not complaining. But if you take the time to use proper grammar and spelling it makes you seem like you know what your talking about.
  7. I'm going to guess you posted that before you read my response. There are 2 important things that few people seem to realize about tekkit. The first is point 2 in my above post. The second is that the tekkit team is doing all of this out of the goodness of their hearts. They don't owe anybody anything. If they want to go a month between posts on the front page, that's completely up to them. In my opinion, since they do all this work without any compensation, they at least deserve the respect of following the simple rules on their forums.
  8. Second this. There is nothing at all to be gained by hostility on an internet forum. Everybody benefits from reasonable discussion. See, here's the problem with what you said. You use hardly any accepted facts. Actually, the only relevant fact is that "the developer of EE says that his own mod is overpowered." Everything else is either your opinion or a fact about your opinion. You simply say all these things, then state your conclusion. Now, don't get me wrong, I do agree with you, EE is overpowered, but some logical statements about how it is overpowered would go a long way to proving your point.
  9. 1) Whether or not its difficult to post a "Still working on it," it has been said time and time again that that wont happen. 2) It is important to realize that the devs here don't make or update any of the mods. Therefore they cant do anything at all to hurry up the update process. 3) For the last update(to MC 1.2.5) someone made a thread where he kept track of the update status of all the mods. I have stated that i will create and maintain such a thread once CraftBukkit updates. 4) This is the biggest one, the tekkit server is a CraftBukkit server. No one can port their mods to CraftBukkit until it is updated for 1.3.2. Here's the website for CraftBukkit if you want to watch for the update. http://mcportcentral.co.za/ 5) As Jay? pointed out, any oblique mention of wondering when an update is can be taken as an ETA request. Its better to just accept that it will happen when it happens and wait it out.
  10. Oh man, i totally missed that he put it in his mos folder. Man, you've got a big problem. I bet you've already got a duck in your computer now. I recommend sledge hammers, flamethrowers and tnt. This might cause the duck to get annoyed and come out. If it does hide in a closet and hope it finds another computer it likes instead of going back in yours.

    Bees

    Here's another way. Using NEI give yourself an "Imprinter" This is a device sirsengir added to spawn whatever type of bee you want. Look through all the bees by clicking on one of the bees in the imprinter. Note, there are some bees that are unobtainable through normal means in game.
  14. Last time i checked that's exactly what forge mod loader does. It's an api, lets you mod without modifying class files and makes all mods compatible. (except for block id's, but that's not going to change, or is it?) The whole point of tekkit is for people to have a common set of mods that work on multiple servers. Even if it was simple as pie to have whatever mods you want people would still want a common standard. @theprolo But the big question is, will it be called technic or tekkit? :)

  18. While admittedly there might be servers that are looking for admins, there is no way they would take some random person who just posted on a forum. Do as PBlock96 said, play on a server and earn the staff's trust.
  19. I would wonder if there has been a single case of someone suing for this over a minecraft server. Just because its technically illegal doesn't put you in danger of a huge fine. There must be thousands of minecraft servers out there.
  20. Personally i haven't. But i don't use half the plugins you have. But if you can get a copy of the server.log i might be able to help.
