  1. I remember hearing in direwolfs server play series something about completely removing EMC. Instead, he will have different types of, something, that correspond to different attributes in a material. For example, iron has so much, say, hardness and so much shiny. I'm making those names up. Pumpkins don't have any hardness or shiny, so you cant make them from iron. But maybe gold does use hardness and shiny, and glitter as well, so you have to go find all those attributes, in the correct amounts to make gold. And I'm pretty sure that pahimar knows very well the reputation that his mod has and is seeking to rectify the problems. note: I'm extrapolating the above from a few offhand comments, so it is surely far from correct, but you get the idea.
  2. hmm, what do you mean nothing happened? Is there no config file? or can you just not use the commands?
  3. Assuming you mean cheat mode in NEI, There is a server portion of NEI that lets people do things like spawn items and the other stuff that cheat mode lets you do. When a client connects to the server it asks the server portion of NEI if the it, the player who is logging in, is an OP. If they are they can use cheat mode, if they arn't they can't. There's nothing that can actually prevent the client from technically being in cheat mode, but unless they are an OP they cant do anything with it.
  4. This is a good thing to know, but its also good to be discrete about these things. If anyone searches these forums for "crash servers with cc" or even just crash server, they will quickly find this thread. I would remove the code that causes the crash. Its enough to just describe what a hammer does without handing anyone who wants it the hammer they can use without effort.

Oh, you dont want to tell us what cool plugins you use? oooh, you seem to have an error. Hey, we have a section for that, its called the Tekkit Bug Board. Why not you go check over there if your super common problem has a simple solution? Like, stickied at the top of said forum where anyone who has the problem can find it? ps, lemme know if you find any cool plugins

  7. Yep, tekkit is just a craftbukkit server bundled with all the mods so you don't have to go find them. There are lots of grief prevention plugins out there, i have not personally used that one put it looks like a good choice. Let me know if you need any help setting it up.

  9. Well my 2 cents say to not take it out. So we are back to even. While i may agree that it is unbalanced, the only argument you provided was the it is the first thing that gets disabled on a server, which is not always true. Anyway, people can just continue to disable it, personally i could not live without the bags. Hey, look at this. Maybe we should get a team of people together to spend lots of time making a pack of only quality mods. Oh wait, that's what the tekkit team does. They spend i have no idea how much time sorting through the dozens of mods out there and picking only the best ones. Tekkit is comprised of quality mods. EE is a quality mod, it has several innovative, well thought out features that no other mod has. It also is compatable with other mods, you can use pipes and tubes to interact with the blocks. There are plenty of mod items with emc values. It just isn't balanced. The most overpowered thing about EE is the ability to create matter. But it has other overpowered things as well. As a server operator i can say that the ability to change matter into other types of matter is completly economy breaking. It is impossible to remove the ability to create matter out of nothing. Growing trees is creating matter out of nothing. "Balance is the concept and the practice of tuning a game's rules, usually with the goal of preventing any of its component systems from being ineffective or otherwise undesirable when compared to their peers" An example i like to use is that of ghast tears. Without checking i believe it has the same emc value as a diamond. So this means you can go underground and find a diamond, then use it to make a potion of regeneration. This is not at all how notch imagined it. Your supposed to go to the nether to find a kill a ghast. But no just diamonds, should you be able to turn a field of wheat into that tear? or a bunch of zombie flesh? The mod is a good mod, but completly unbalanced. I look forward to the complete rewrite coming in EE3. Edit: i somehow missed page 6 of this thread.
  10. Yes, this is true. But your disregarding my other distinction. Getting large amounts of UU is not all that easy unless you are capable of building a solar machine. Anybody who wants can follow a youtube video to make a dark room or mooshroom milker. As long as condensers can freely turn anything(with an emc value, which includes something like 99% of base ingredients) into anything else(same), instead of just one hard to get thing into some other things, they will be far more powerful.
  11. This is partly true. Yes UU can be extremely powerful. But only in the case where someone builds a machine like this. Not impossible, but way way more complicated than a single recipe for a condenser. Also, there is one important distinction. UU matter only lets you make specific items out of UU matter. Condensers let you make anything out of anything.
  12. stevolution, sorry, i cant make anything out in that pic, its too dark. If you havn't, try setting brightness up to bright. gavjenks, agreed, i happen to have a couple 100 block plus wires, but its a kinda extreme case. Except possible in the example you used of the windfarm.
  13. Use something like, http://postimage.org/, then hit the insert image button and put in the link. If your reactor is outputting 120 eu/t you should be just fine using fiber the whole way. However, if you will be ramping up the power soon you should do something like this. The reactor splits its power to 4 transformers. Each one sends HV to the MFSU. gavjenks, the one problem i see is, You would have to be very careful that the batboxes fill up at the same time. If one gets full, then the packet size would increase and blow the cable.
  14. Just did that. Watching the mfsu it is clear that there is not a 512 eu packet coming every 3.2 seconds. While it is hard to be precise, it did look like it was 8 eu packet every tick. On the tin cable. That is extremely useful and very helpful. I'll be using that a lot.
  15. I agree with you about the packets dividing. But i just tried this. Had a reactor with 2 cells in it. Produces 40 eu/t. Clicking as fast as possible with a eu reader, i got 40 eu/t averaged over 4 ticks. If it built up to 128, taking 3.2 ticks, then it would have read 32 eu/t averaged over 4 ticks. But if I let it average over more ticks it would read the correct value. I'm not saying your wrong, if your reading the code i bet your right, but I'm curious where your source is for this.
  16. Good writeup, i hadn't thought about it that way. However, Reactors can be an exception to this rule. If it was a low power reactor and only put out 50 eu packets, you would lose all the power in 62.5 blocks.
  17. Interesting, HV cable loses 1 eu every block, 1 eu every 1.25 blocks for 3xins cable. If you lose all the power in 50/60 blocks, you would probably only be outputting 50/60 eu's. So straight into fiber cable should be fine. Do you know the power output of your reactor configuration?

  19. try without the collectors entirely I'm not trying to dissuade you, the average tekkit user is not capable of building something like this. So, good job. It's just my opinion that collectors and condensers are overpowered and should be avoided.
  20. Echo that, I have one that makes a HV in under 3 mins. And i use UU matter instead of cheating collectors.

  22. Here's the good news. Pahimar, the current creator of EE, is completely rewriting the mod. And it sounds like he is putting lots of effort into balance, so we will see how it turns out.
  23. woah woah woah, i thought most of this thread was good reading, till everybody started yelling. The topic of balance in a game is always worthy of discussion. That's what a forum is for, discussing things, and yelling at newbs. If you don't want to discuss balance in a game, then don't, don't go and tell other people not to. On topic, Looking at EE from a high level, i see this. EE adds complete elements to the game that no other mod does. Macerating is very very different from transmuting. One ore gets you 2 bars, instead of 1. Nothing about turning pumpkins into iron. The concept of transmuting is found in a few other mods, ic2's uu matter for example, but no where near as powerfully. EE's transmuting allows anything to be turned into anything, and back and forth however much you want. Collectors let you get energy from nothing, with no effort, and take up very little space. I guess this is the important thing with this. It is possible to make a sugar cane farm that takes no effort to run. But for each block, how much emc do you get per hour? a fraction the amount of a collector flower. If you want you can make a bigger cane farm, but there are limits. You will lag the server out before you get the emc rate of a few mk3 flowers. And the problem is, you can use the emc you make with the flower to directly make more flowers. Thoughts? Are there any reasonable people left here who want to discuss?
  24. well, we are using an older version that does not support permissions based disabling, never got around to updating. you can just use the config file in /plugins/disablecraft/ the format goes - (block ID)::(data value, -1 for all data values) If you wanted to block orange wool, but not any other wool, it would be - 35::1 I really should update that plugin, sorry i cant help with the permission based disabling.
