hmm, thats a downright bummer. although i guess not too bad if you're not intent on keeping any particular ages and only use them while the base is stopped.
-
well, from a train standpoint i wouldn't necessarily want the train going into the ages. I'd just use it as transport on the overworld. I'd have a book car though with writing desk and link book stands in it. So far for me, the mystcraft ages are like the holodeck from star trek :)

So, i have a new bug I want to fiddle with on another map and the closest I had come to doing it had been the zeppelin mod. Essentially I want to be able to operate from a mobile airship base. This is technic as well, just a heads up. Now, I've gotten some idea of the hiccups with technic and the zeppelin mod itself. Something about pipes not working and things. I'm wondering if maybe quarrying in mystcraft ages and transporting the loot back would work from the airship. Like if the mod is friendly with blocks from mystcraft and thaumcraft for that matter. If I can't get what i want from that mod, maybe the train mod I hear about. i wondered if you could build good sized train cars like a real train instead. Same thought process though in the end. I envision a MC ocean world where you power a nuclear submarine around as your base :)

New to Tekkit; I need advice on a new power source

i tested them on flat creative and I think they're fine. i plan to use them my next go around as they are exceptionally cheap. Layer 155 seems to be the sweet spot to get them up to though. -

arrays are made from panels. its an upgrade process. my typical startup is a single line of ultra low tin out from a batbox on the roof. string single panels on that till you have about a dozen. then I start to consider upping to LV arrays from those panels usually about when I am making the transition from batboxes to mfe's i'll upgrade wiring to gold inside the house and then get an mfe for the roof and inside and a lv transformer to continue feeding the machines. lv arrays put out 8 eu/t each the reason I do a storage on the roof with the setup and one inside the house is to increase total storage to weather the night loads as well as to have a charging station for tools inside. plus the storage device outputs are steady so the machine don't burp when running. -
the injector must be placed such that it touches the bottom of the core unit. and then of course you need redstone to turn them on.
-
the electrolyzer can charge or discharge water cells into electrolyzed cells as a means of "backup" for a storage unit. this is why only storage devices can power it and why it must contact the storage device directly and not be cabled like a machine.

does that recycle books to ages you dont need/want anymore?

thats because you are giving them the wrong ip. Internal to your lan has nothing to do with ports or forwarding. first off, are you specifying an IP in your servers server.properties file? do you know the IP you need to be using for your server? like silent said above, open a command prompt window ( don't use run ) and use ipconfig to see what ip address you are presently using. This will be the internal lan IP of the machine. I forgot there are a couple brands that like to hand out 10.x.x.x ip's instead of the usual 192.168.x.x range. you are better off of course going into your network settings and modifying your tcp/ip settings to force a static IP for the machine you plan to be hosting from anyway. And always do it if you plan to port forward outside traffic to the host.

i was wondering since i've seen little discussion on the mod. i have pretty much gotten most of the mod down. I have some ages I liked so far and kept for various reasons. There are however symbols I can't get for whatever reason. Glowstone, crystal, and obelisk I have yet to see. And I'm not sure on the number of secondaries you can fiddle with an not risk instability. I was curious if anyone else did any testing since the wiki is dry on the subject a bit. Also, what are your ideal writings for descriptive books and desired target ages?
-
are you talking about the 1.3.2 vanilla lan play option? by default the server up until this point has run exclusively on port 25565 and would not change. I have not heard of a single application that would randomly pick a port to connect to the lan besides a virus looking for an already open port. Hence, port forwarding DOES work if the traffic is coming from outside your LAN.

ok, figured i'd bump this a bit and update. i've been doing as noob had suggested and delved alot into mystcraft mainly to fetch research artifacts and silverwoods to transplant. today I finally made some goggles of revealing. Info I needed and had been lacking was an actual reading of the charges. First off, I noticed something I had not seen mentioned elsewhere. Normal trees that get infected by taint and become tainted trees add to the taint charge in a chunk thereby speeding up the spread of taint. Much like a forest fire. I therefore decided to use forest fire tactics and clear cut trees from the surrounding chunks and establish a "burn" barrier around the taint hot zone with a low cobble wall. My current infection I am battling covers 33 chunks now spread from its initial 20 at first appearance. Once I had that initial setup I began adding more to my transplants. 1 silverwood per chunk was my start and now I began to see the charge +/- so i made sure to stop all taint charges that I could. and then in outlying chunks I began to ensure I had positive charges there first. Does a steady positive charge in a chunk that has taint levels eventually cause those taint levels to drop though? My dilemma at the moment is a lack of taint crystals to feed the 1 condenser w/ purifiers setup I have in the center of the zone. Beyond that though I don't know of much more effort I can do without a bigger crystal farm.

so, you've essentially hijacked this thread, showing that you once again have not learned your lesson?
-
actually, after testing on creative I dont see any reason why 1 or 2 wind's being good if you can get them up around layer 155. Nice and cheap for initial sustainable energy.
-
localhost only connects to the service running on the same machine as its effectively 127.0.0.1 ip address. if the server is running on the same machine you can use the 192.x.x.x ip of that machine, 127.0.0.1, or even localhost everyone else needs to use the 192.x.x.x ip.
-
i've honestly never understood them all myself since it doesn't say anything different for the peoples profiles. Basically in my book, there's us normal folks and then there's them special colored folk with all the powers :)
-
if they are on the same local wireless your IP should be 192.168.1.xx as should there's. It shouldn't be the IP address your router gets from the outside ISP.
-
like I said earlier. you DONT use a wooden pipe to output from the energy link. you should only need to use the wood pipe to output from an engine.
-
why would you ever want to use bluetricity as an EU source anyway? they have the same creation methods so there no reason to start with the similar sources. i actually wonder what people would do without a BC to IC energy go between.
-
wood pipes don't work right off the energy link I believe. You need to use stone or golden conductive pipes. The wood pipe is used on things that need their inventory pulled and the energy link doesn't have an inventory.

yeah, i got that part. it's not overly helpful to my situation though.

thats not a simple program. go peruse the computercraft forums in their turtle program sharing subsection.

I have finally gotten my base progressing along. Still expanding my solar array to keep my quarry on full time though. I have a nice sized sugar farm working away and have been doing research. My warehouse storage sorts and dumps excess into my thaumium crucible which turns it into vis that i use 4 filters to purify. that feeds an infuser, crystalizer, repairer, duplicator, and enchanter. I have a small crystal farm on my roof too. My problem is the relatively low income rate of vis I get coupled with figuring out how to lower the taint in the chunk my base is in as well as raising the aura which is also rather low. I have silverwood trees within a few chunks scattered about, but if they dont drop saplings I don't see the trade off to cutting them down. I have the totem of dawn researched, but isn't the tree better? I also read the tree needs at least 4 logs to be of any use. I'm not sure really where to go from here with TC. I have taint I could go fight about 30 chunks away or so, but still vague on how even with all the reading.

buildcraft pipes don't really have a means of doing what you want. redpower tubes wont send the item to the container until the destination is valid.
