help making an automated lava power plant
Portablejim replied to tigerbomb8's topic in Tekkit Lite Discussion
No explosions. Although they put out a maximum of 5MJ/t, they will auto-adjust their output (and fuel usage) to match the rate at which it is used (if less than the maximum of 5MJ/t). If no power is being used and they build up power, they will overheat and will need to be hit with a buildcraft wrench or a cresent hammer (from thermal expansion). This applies to the steam engine from thermal expansion as well. -

Actually a magmatic engine is cheaper, smaller and more efficient than a geothermal generator and an electrical engine. -
Is it possible to ground or store MJ?
Portablejim replied to EpicBlargh's topic in Tekkit Lite Discussion
You can store the energy in a redstone energy cell. -
Tekkit Lite Server Possible On RaspberryPi
Portablejim replied to TheSmoothCriminal's topic in Tekkit Lite Discussion
There might be a .sh file around to run it. Otherwise try running (in terminal) java -jar tekkit-server.jar (the filename might be wrong). -

Pump some lava into a liquid transposer and provide some buildcraft power (e.g. a sterling engine). It will fill the cells for you. Direwolf20's has a video ( - also try 22:25 for how to use the liquid transposer) on setting a system up. (Note: He is using the Direwolf20 FTB pack, so it has a few mods that are different - e.g. he has forestry but does not have nether ores - but most mods are the same). -
There is a TP command I think you can use to teleport you to certain coordinates. Teleport inside your forcefield.

I'll give you a hint. Have a look at thermal expansion's liquid transposers. You can recover the tin cells. -
It would help yourself to read the rules. It would help us help you if you would provide more details of the problem.

ComputerCraft Turtles / ccSensors / RedPower Forth Disk
Portablejim replied to AngelMalus's topic in Tekkit Lite Discussion
The turtles might be in the creative mode inventory and not in NEI, but they still exist and can be used. -
minor to major nuclear issues..any thoughts
Portablejim replied to nuclear walrus's topic in Tekkit Lite Discussion
The reactor mechanics have changed drastically since tekkit classic. Some things to note: Ice/snow/water can no longer be used to cool reactors. Water around a reactor does not effect it anymore The reactor does not cool down automatically anymore. You need reactor vents to cool it down. Redstone now turns reactors on intead of turning them off. Here is a video explaining the changes and new mechanics: Here is a video explaining the components in a MK1 reactor: Some reactor designs: http://forum.industrial-craft.net/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=7681 -

More enchantements in tekkit lite ?
Portablejim replied to dynacord's topic in Tekkit Lite Discussion
Disjunction on an Athame deals more damage to endermen. -
If you are using the custom zip feature, then it will keep using the custom zip. If you update your mod, you update your zip. If you are manually adding your mod, you will need to manually update the mod.

More enchantements in tekkit lite ?
Portablejim replied to dynacord's topic in Tekkit Lite Discussion
Redpower 2. I think it gives a chance of the heads of mobs dropping when killed, even player heads. -
I feel the removed steps are actually important.

To preserve anonymity (and also to make it simple), I will use the names Alice and Bob. Both Alice and her brother Bob have Minecraft/Mojang accounts, but only Bob has actually bought minecraft. Alice is on computer A, Bob is on computer B. They want to have a game of Tekkit lite. So: Bob logs into the Technic launcher Computer A with his login name and downloads tekkit lite. Bob tells Alice she really should pay for the game. Alice feels sad that she has not bought the game Alice disconnects Computer A from the network and tries to log in. She chooses Offline mode and the game starts up. Alice feels sad she has not bought the game Alice connects the network cable to Computer A Alice feels sad she has not bought the game Alice starts a single player game Alice feels sad she has not bought the game Alice connects the network cable and chooses Open to LAN. Alice feels sad she has not bought the game Bob logs in on Computer B with his minecraft account and joins Alice's game They play together while remembering that Alice has still not bought the game. They decide that they don't want to play tekkit lite anymore, they want to play tekkit classic. So: One of them downloads the Tekkit classic server and sets it to offline mode in the server config. Alice fells bad that she has not bought the game. They start the server Alice fells bad that she has not bought the game. They repeat steps 1-6 from when they played tekkit lite, but instead of tekkit lite it is for tekkit classic. Alice joins the server. Alice feels sad she has not bought the game Bob logs in (on computer using his account and joins the server. Alice feels sad she has not bought the game They play together while remembering that Alice has still not bought the game.

Options for reducing duplicate ores from all these mods.
Portablejim replied to mynd's topic in Tekkit Lite Discussion
Use a Lexicon from Omnitools -
It is coming soon™. There are several things which mojang has promised us we would get in 1.4. Now they are saying "it will happen after 1.5 is released". So it is more a case of "I'll believe it when I see it" for most people.

I was more thinking of a block to emulate a Condenser + Collector flower, which would function (with upgraded collectors) like a duplicator.

I haven't felt a need for a portable wiki. 500 pages? No and Yes. No, I would not manually visit 500 pages and save them. Yes, I would get a script to do it for me. See http://www.boutell.com/newfaq/creating/mirroring.html and http://linuxreviews.org/quicktips/wget/

Download the wiki pages and save them to a folder. View the files on your computer when you don't have a connection.
