  1. I think he said most efficient, not less likely to miss diamonds. Also, your grid is wrong: oxox_xoxo x_xoxox_x x_xoxox_x oxox_xoxo oxox_xoxo x_xoxox_x As you can see, by offsetting and interlocking the tunnels, you limit the unseen area to merely 1x2 sections, which make it incredibly unlikely that any diamond nodes will be in that area and not extend outside of it to blocks that can be seen. I hate that divining rod, it feels like such a waste of time. I would much rather just take the catalyst and go nuts down on the diamond layer and hope for the best. Was just discussing vanilla digging strategies for kicks. My wife and I used to dig huge sections of the above pattern in our old vanilla world. We called it the Honeycomb Mineshafts.
  2. Ooh sorry Dood, that was not the most efficient way to make that point. The white van should be rolling up to your house shortly to take away your computer ;p
  3. I see three problems. Your shitty antivirus is blocking the launcher, you are posting in the wrong section, and you arent reading the stickies.
  4. I could tell you that you just need to open the config file for thaumcraft or ic2 and change one of those block IDs to a free one... but based on the composition of your post, you would have no idea what I am talking about.
  5. If there is a bukkited version, it is a snap to add it to servers so even if technic crew doesn't add it, many people can still use and enjoy it. Good luck with it!
  6. Woohoo! I have no clue what you are talking about, but I am caught up in your enthusiasm! More Pistons in the 1.2.5 Tekkit! Yay! o.0
  7. Re: tekkit 3.00 SMP one of the staff already answered and said there is not a public version. A moderator also chimed in to tell you your options and let you know there is no beta version. You aren't gonna get into some super secret tekkit beta testing group, just drop it.

    crash!!

It's called a "Bump" not a bumb. Your description is not very descriptive. I am assuming it crashes every time you load the world now. The solution seems obvious. Load up your world in MCedit and remove the item you added that you think caused the crash.
  9. Re: tekkit 3.00 SMP You should probably stop bumping your posts or you might indeed get "baned". I am pretty sure they do not invite to beta testing for their server. if they did, I doubt you would be at the top of the list =p If they do open testing, they will release the server publicly and you would know as easily as anyone else. I recommend reading the forum rules as well before someone else reports you... ::shifty eyes:: Not a moderator, just offering helpful advice.

    crash!!

I hear it is illegal in some states...
  11. Have you checked if theres any errors on the server when they try to connect, what about errors they get when trying to connect? Just saying it doesnt work isn't a whole lot to go on, it could be any number of things.
  12. I'm guessing your "vanilla world" is from 1.2.3 or higher, which means it is in the new format and therefore will not work with the current version (1.1) of tekkit. There may be some way to change the format back to the old style, but even if you did get it working, there would be no copper, tin, apatite, etc anywhere you have already explored. You would have to go to chunks you havent explored yet to get any of the new ores.
  13. That link is exactly the problem you are having, we can't magically reach through the monitor and fix it for you. Read the link and fix it.
  14. It is your problem not tekkit. It is saying you are trying to reserve more ram then you have. Look up the xmx and xms java paramaters and fix it yourself. It was deleted before probably because you didnt read the stickies and post in the correct format. Continuing to make low effort posts with a bad attitude will likely result in a probation or a ban so you might want to read the rules and such. Not that I am a moderator, just a suggestion.
  15. So basically you're trying to tell people what mods are okay and what is cheating. Thats cool for you, on your server. Good luck with that. Keep your better-then-thou attitude off the forums though or expect to be flamed. Oh, and its probably not a good idea to piss off the moderators.
  16. Really? It was the flying that made you blow a gasket? I assumed it was the x-ray since that is a little more sinister on large servers, but flying? Really? There are multiple items from several different mods that allow you to fly, some of which can be gotten very quickly and easily and have very little to no upkeep. Who gives a shit if someone uses a seperate mod to fly, ESPECIALLY if it is on his personal server. Why does it hurt you for someone else to fly around?
  17. the "path thingy" just allows windows to run java from the command line. The fact that the server is running at all means that isnt the problem I kept getting those socket closed errors when I was connecting locally to a server I was hosting on the same machine. Nobody else was getting them but it was disconnecting me. No idea what was causing it.
  18. It's not necessarily hacking. My wife and I play on our own private server with occasionally a couple friends. She is using zombes mods because it makes the game more fun for her. She can see what squares mobs can spawn on so she can spread torches ideally, she can see vanilla ores through the ground in a 4 block radius (configurable) and she can make the walls around her transparent so she can see caves around. It makes the game more fun for her, and it doesn't ruin it for me. Obv on a large server this would give you an unfair advantage, but minecraft, tekkit especially is so random and unbalanced anyway. I mean aside from the many client-side cheats that anybody could be running undetected, there is the fact that anyone who started early has an advantage in the tech tree and access to mats, if the server is running EE, anyone who fully utilizes it has a huge advantage, people with ic2 setups have an advantage over those that do not, etc. Not to mention ops being able to give themselves and their friends anything they want. While I agree that using "cheat" type client-side mods shouldn't exactly be encouraged on larger servers, it's not like its some huge epidemic plaguing multiplayer when there are so many other balance issues to factor in. Also, you cannot automatically assume anyone who wants them is going to use them to gain an unfair advantage on a larger server.
  19. BloodravenD is right, electric engines suck ass on conductive pipes powering forestry stuff. 3 engines on conductive pipes on a rubber tree farm barely runs them all sporadically, attach them directly to the machines and they work like a champ. Also, a pic of the actual farm instead of the power setup would be more useful, there could be something completely different wrong.
  20. A lot of zombes mods work with tekkit, including a couple x-ray types. I'm not gonna help you install it because personally I dislike it. However my wife uses it and enjoys it so... meh if you can get it working too by all means do so.
  21. Bugs are bugs. You can't factor bugs into balance equations. If you are exploiting bugs you obviously don't give a shit about balance. It's like using thaumcraft with EE to make infinite vis and bitching about balance. The mods were not DESIGNED to run together, exploiting interactions between mods is always going to result in imbalance, it is foolish to expect mod designers to balance their mod around every other mod. As for the quantum armor, i agree that it is better then gem armor. The nano sword also does more damage then the red matter sword and is arguably easier to get. I believe most balance arguments revolve around the base mechanics of the mods, not the weapons and armor. The utility items for EE are far more powerful. Compare the catalyst to the mining laser. SWG to jetpacks. Alchemical chest, bags, fucking archangels smite of kill anything in one click without even having to aim... i mean seriously. That is not even touching the actual gameplay changing mechanics. In IC2 you spend a lot of time and accumulate lots of different mats to craft a large complicated setup for running machines that require a separate power system with additional maintenence or additional setup time for what... the ability to get two metal per ore, and smelt things without coal. You also get all the cool IC2 stuff, but the machines themselves are not all that powerful (not that getting 2 metal per ore isn't great). Compare that to EE2, you get enough EMC for a collector, a relay, and a klein star, and then it automatically generates raw EMC that you can use to make more collectors, and anything else you need. You never have to go mining again, once you get a few EE things set up you get infinite everything, forever. I'm not saying I don't like the mod, it is super useful, but I have to impose limitations on myself for using it, or it makes every other mod trivial. Like some people said, why make a wood farm when you can just turn emc into wood? Why set up IC2 machines for making metal when you can just turn EMC into metal? I'm just going to go to bed now, I feel like I am ranting.
  22. You can't factor duping shit with crafting table 2 into balance discussions. It's a BUG. Anyone who still has crafting table 2 up on their server when it is broken clearly doesnt give a shit about balance.
  23. I really like the idea of disabling Energy Collectors to somewhat balance EE with the other mods. That way it becomes an item sink instead of an item generator. You can still change items you have into items you do not have, but you are still required to go mining once you run out of high emc value items.
  24. Ewan223 can connect to his tekkit server just fine, but his friends cannot connect. Did he... A. Not forward the port B. Give them the network IP and not the external IP C. Fill his computer with cheese whiz D. Both A and B. I'm guessing the correct answer is D. For the OP: Google "what is my IP" and give them that IP. You also have to forward the port in your server config. Google, port forwarding and your router brand.
  25. sounds like you have 32 bit java, download 64 bit java.
