  1. try getting the most recent version from here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/java-game-lib/files/Official%20Releases/LWJGL%202.8.4/ also, I did a little digging and I see what you mean about having a hard time googling the problem. from what I can gather, this issue is caused most often by the 64-bit libraries being inaccessible for some reason. either the JVM has no read permissions to them or it can't find them so it defaults to 32-bit and dies. the other thing you could also try is using command line arguments to force java to look in the right place for the LWJGL libraries. do this by using the -Djava.library.path="path/to/lwjgl/64bit/dlls" command line parameter. in order to make that stick though you'll need to use a second little trick to prevent the launcher from restarting itself with default parameters. make a batch file in your .techniclauncher directory. in the batch file, place the following lines: mkdir rtemp java <insert command line arguments here> -jar techniclauncher.jar run that to launch the launcher and see how it goes.
  2. that's from the EE wiki, by the way.
  3. you're also confusing tekkit versions and minecraft versions. tekkit 3.1.x is actually running minecraft 1.2.5, not 1.3.
  4. this isn't anything like mass effect's mass relays. this is something that has been around for a long time. look up "solar sails" to see what this is essentially doing. the basic idea is that light exerts a force on an object when it hits and bounces off of it. normally this isn't worth mentioning because gravity and friction and blah blah. in space though, where there is nothing like an atmosphere and no gravity to speak of, that tiny force can add up and actually propel an object if you give it enough surface area to hit. it's a way to get things moving in space without requiring a lot of heavy fuel. of course it's a rather one-way ticket unless you've got something on the receiving end to catch the craft. doing this with lasers is perhaps more efficient or something. as for mass relays, those are obviously not explained very in depth in mass effect, but the general idea was that they reduced the ship's mass to zero or close to it I believe. that's not even close to shooting lasers at stuff in space.
  5. there is a large "submit bug report" link at the top and bottom of the bug board sections. it makes sure you follow the proper format and at least tries to get you to provide the information we'd need to diagnose and fix your issue. your OP, btw, does not do that. now you know, and knowing is half the battle. edit: torezzzuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!
  6. Merchant has the correct answer here. in addition to those reasons, adf.ly and other services like it are a major reason for why the MC modding scene and "community" is as stupid, shitty, and drama filled as it is. do you really think people would get their panties in such a bunch nearly as often as they do in MC over mod packs using their mods if they didn't have dollar signs in their eyes? that's not something we want to encourage.
  7. tautologies for everyone!
  8. but can I use you in my password hashing algorithms?
  9. if you're on technic, you can also use thaumcraft2 seals to suck items into a chest from a pretty impressive distance.
  10. minecraft pocket is nothing at all like regular minecraft. in order to make this happen you'd have to recreate minecraft, as it is on PC now, in andriod app form. then you'd have to go and recode every single mod to work with your new minecraft version. once all that's done, create a time machine and travel about 50 years into the future in order to find a phone powerful enough to run all this crap. good luck with that.
  11. I usually name any handheld device like a phone or, in the past, PDA "crysknife", because I like dune. in fact all my PCs are named something dune related.
  12. as an It professional, here is why norton sucks: 1) it fails to detect things that other, better AV programs don't miss 2) it is a major and well known AV program and so it is often targeted by malware for evasion and disabling. 3) it is resource intensive, causing unnecessary slow downs in the system. all of these I have personally seen in action and experienced. these are only the ones that are true of the current norton, btw. older versions were far worse, integrating so deep into the system and uninstalling so poorly that often removing the program would break basic functions like networking completely, requiring anything from TCP/IP stack reset to complete OS reinstallation to fix, depending on the system. I don't have links, I myself am an authority on the subject, as it is my job.
  13. just ignore the comments and enjoy the videos. it's what I do.
  14. try looking again? they haven't gone anywhere. perhaps put your bi-focals on or remove the blindfold you're using?
  15. who else is waiting for this to unlock on steam? the original was amazing and only lacked multiplayer. now that 2 has coop it's pretty much the best thing ever.
  16. did you try looking at the first posts in each section? you know, the ones that are "stuck" to the top of the forum because they are "stickies"?
  17. there are java command line arguments to route java traffic through a proxy. I don't know them off the top of my head but they exist. the trick for using them with technic is to stop the launcher from relaunching itself and clearing your command line stuff. in order to stop this, you have to first create a directory in the .techniclauncher folder called "rtemp", then run the launcher with your desired proxy options.
  18. the answer is no. you're an idiot. the plus side though, is that you're an honest and straightforward idiot. however, you're still an idiot and need to get bent.
  19. I totally thought this was going to be related to the website, something awful, instead of a thinly veiled attempt at posting a bug report in the wrong section. I was disappointed.
  20. you, sir, have exquisite and refined taste.
  21. in what possible universe would autorun functionality for USB drives actually be so important that you would downgrade you OS in an attempt to get it back? does the 5 seconds it takes to open your drive and click on the executable annoy you THAT much? seriously? also, as has been pointed out, this was a MASSIVE security flaw that got exploited a lot. auto-run for CDs is bad enough as it is, but this was even worse. you might as well be opining for the good old days when winnuke still worked because that was somehow better.
  22. he was not the first, but he was the most recent. I think the first was the solar hat mod guy who included some code that would straight up crash the game if you ran it with technic.
  23. there has only ever been one reason for forestry's removal. this isn't it.
