  1. My guess? Most of what it does is done better and less laggy with TE so they just chopped it as redundant.

    Edit:

Plus, you can move them around!

Yeah, forgot to mention that. Soooo nice being able to move 150k cobble in a single block.

  2. Try MFR deep storage units. They hold up to 2 billion and don't impose extra rendering on clients.

If ender pearls are too expensive there's a config change to make it 5 chests instead.

  3. Recently found this:

    He is everywhere

In the heavens and the Earth

    He makes the starts shine

    yet He cannot be seen

    He is noble, abundant

    and fills the Universe

He can lift you into the sky

    and bring you gently down

    He can take many forms

    He can help heal

    He can help kill

    He can help create

    and He can help destroy

  4. With the US system, you can still get care if you're dirt poor, and it's faster than 'universal health care'. Government controlled is just bleh, it's more expensive and time-consuming.

Ever had two med students and a doc argue at the foot of your bed as to whether your uninsured arse suffering from massive blood loss deserves a blood pack you "obviously can't pay for"?

I have. Hemo count 6 (normal is 16) after a bleeding ulcer, took the med students 24 hours to convince the doc to give me a single blood pack.

Or how about making a new mother 6 days after her c-section wait 2 hours in a near empty ER after her incision site burst open and started bleeding everywhere.

This wasn't even in Bumfuk Nowhere, where you have to wait an hour for the on call surgeon to show up for an esophageal blockage during normal business hours because he's off branding the new calves. This was UCI medical center, a couple city blocks away from disneyland.

    Fast and available my ass...

  5. What I'll miss-

    RP2: Frames.

Tubes are nice and all, but I've always preferred pipes (even when server ops don't).

IC2: Crops, cheap early energy storage, solar power, and the chainsaw.

Chainsaw because it's a friggin chainsaw! Yes plasma shooty robot hand is cool as well, but it's not as satisfying against zombies...

Crops are really nice for early game food and fuel (easy to get enough crops of reed to power early processing operations) and mid-late cross breeding is an interesting diversion.

What I won't miss is obsidian being as effective as dirt against explosions. Plus nukes, nukes can bite me.

Of course, nothing says the mods can't be added to other modpacks. Yay platform!

Edit: Oh, and as for UU matter? I'd like to see minechem considered for that roll once it updates.

Nothing quite as sweet as chucking a couple stacks of sugar into a machine and getting diamonds out.

  6. My username has been stolen by many over the last 20 years I've been using it, so a search for it reveals very little.

My real name, on the other hand, is shared by one other person (the guy I was named after) and shows a disturbing level of information on a public site. Some of it taken from private facebook posts my wife has made.

Seeing my 5 year has an entry on that pipl site complete with a current picture is bad enough, but seeing my 6 month old too is crossing the line...

  7. How do you mean? I was talking about the random, uncontrollable effects when the item is low on durability.

    Misunderstood.

Still not that hard though. You can run ticks on itemstacks (IC2's solar helmet and nanosaber, thaumcraft's recharging wands), so all you have to do is have it check damage values against a threshold and do your random stuff from that.

  8. Anyone else remember the big final battle in the 80's movie Willow? Where the queen is fighting with the good witch over the wand and they zap random things, including the clam shell tripod thing that springs to life and attacks Willow?

That thing was cool looking, and the idea of uncontrolled magic making furniture springing to monstrous life and attacking you is a pretty cool one, huh?

  9. No, there is no way to remove your account. Even if it were deleted, there's still the google cache and various other historic snapshots like wayback and whatnot.

And I believe rich's facepalm had to do with the fact you've doubled your post count by creating and replying to this thread.

    Lets go over some facts:

1: You had two posts previous to this thread.

2: Both of those posts show your willingness to teach and entertain others, which is a plus for most employers.

3: You now have a record of yourself calling someone else a "smart arse", which is not a good thing for any applicant researchers to find.

4: Your username is Jamie Smith, which I assume is your real name. Jamie is quite common and Smith is an extremely common last name (fun fact, if you trace your paternal lineage back you'll find one of your ancestors was a blacksmith), so googling Jamie Smith is going to return a massive number of hits. The possibility of a job recruiter finding this account is pretty slim, unless you keep upping it's relevancy score by posting more and more.

Believe me kid, #4 alone means you have nothing to worry about.

  10. So how exactly does this "fix" work? AFAIK the problem is generally caused by connection issues, although I could be wrong.

Probably uses the same principals as the theory of pain relativity.

Once you run that, "update failed" issues become the least of your worries.

  11. Applied Energistics changed earlygame quite a bit, so I'll assume you have the latest tekkit.

1: After finding your base location and getting your cobble tools, hunt for quartz, copper, and iron. Do NOT smelt any ores you get.

2: Make a quartz pick and a quartz grinder. The pick is equal to iron in what it can mine, and the grinder will ensure you don't miss out on a single ingot from your ores.

3: Decide which processing mod you will go with. IC2 is easier to get a small stream of infinite energy and the power storage is cheaper, but everything requires a lot more iron than the TE equivalents. Thermal expansion uses less metal for machines (especially iron), but requires gold and more redstone. My suggestion is TE pulverizer and sawmill then full set of IC2 machines starting with the extractor.

4: Make IC2 tools as you need them. Work on nano armor and an MFE (8 diamonds, 64 redstone, 8 iron, 1 gold, 8 rubber, 168 coal).

5: If you can dedicate time to let it run, use CC mining turtles instead of quarries. You can use gem picks instead of diamond to make the turtles, but you lose out on obsidian.

  12. Pretty good english and fairly involved for a scam. Much more effort than the usual wikipedia clippings with Cheap Ugg Boots links added in.

Planetminecraft is the only other site with the same post, but atleast that shows it wasn't solely targeted at technic.

IP info says it's a static from Wrexham in the UK, and it didn't change over time so either that's a proxy or this guy is a complete idiot.

According to that virustotal it's the standard ransom/RAT combo that crops up in drive-by download ads.

So either this guy is an amateur "hacker" who found a trojan kit online and is looking to make some cash swiping creditcard numbers and trolling for juicy info on infected computers.

Or he's an idiot troll looking to get some chuckles spreading around the virus that infected him in the recent past.

Either way, point and laugh children.

  13. Alright man, sorry about that. Maybe one day we might find a way to release it with a manual install, but right now all I can say is: beta is beta.

And your beta is really suspect.

Windows only and Java just scream malware. Especially since, as planetguy pointed out, your virus free file isn't the same one you're offering for download.

So please give me a good reason to allow this to continue here.
