miniboxer Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 That's quite the that's running through here. I got one BEFORE it was cool! or something like that. whatever makes me totally not a hipster, because being a hipster is too mainstream. Quote
Jorcer Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Another avatar picture. I decided to remake the one I made for Jorcer. SNIP Behold the Viking Hacker in his natural habitat, a subway bench. Haha! I love it Awesome work on all of the avatars Valkon... If you keep it up everyone here will have one Quote
Moderators Munaus Posted March 24, 2013 Moderators Posted March 24, 2013 Haha! I love it Awesome work on all of the avatars Valkon... If you keep it up everyone here will have one I doubt giving 124.000+ users their own personal avatar something an artist would look forward to No need "to do me", Valkon. 'Cuz you already done me :) Quote
Valkon Posted March 30, 2013 Author Posted March 30, 2013 Decided to try something a little different. Foreground (Beast + grassy hill) done in Photoshop, background (everything else) in Illustrator. Based on the Amiga game Shadow of the Beast. Also, I've realized I'm not as good with Illustrator as I am with Photoshop. Quote
Valkon Posted May 3, 2013 Author Posted May 3, 2013 I decided to use that line art thing I made to test out some advice I got for shading so here we go Quote
Jorcer Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Whoever gave you that advice certainly know what he/she is doing. Out of curiosity what was the advice? Quote
Valkon Posted May 3, 2013 Author Posted May 3, 2013 To use the dodge/burn tool, which I hadn't noticed before. Basically what they do is increase/decrease the color of whatever you're using it on, so the highlights are done with the dodge tool and the shadows with the burn tool. Quote
Jorcer Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Ahhh clever. I never thought of using that for shading... Quote
Lethosos Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Careful with that. Some think that's hersey in the art world. I'd consider playing with actual colors using an airbrush tool and masking. Quote
Valkon Posted May 3, 2013 Author Posted May 3, 2013 Yeah, but until I actually get around to learning real shading it will suffice. Quote
Lethosos Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Usually I like to create a mini-pallet by picking a high, mid, and low color for a section. Altering the color for high and/or low can create some interesting effects, like a subtle glow to an enchanted weapon. Quote
Valkon Posted May 16, 2013 Author Posted May 16, 2013 Whoa whats going on in this thread This thread is now being converted into so I got to experiment with sculpt tool in blender Now I'll just try using Blender's vertex paint tool thing and Oh. Quote
Xylord Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 This thread is now being converted into so I got to experiment with sculpt tool in blender Now I'll just try using Blender's vertex paint tool thing and Oh. I hope it's not a self-portrait... Quote
Valkon Posted May 16, 2013 Author Posted May 16, 2013 I hope it's not a self-portrait... Nope. It's supposed to be a head of an angry overweight man (it even has those popping vein things) but I obviously need to practice sculpt tool more. Quote
Soupa Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Lets spice things up Have some more 3D stuff even though i didn't make it i did pose them though so it kinda counts?? Quote

Kocken926 Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 I drew a thing Gotta' love that facial expression, considering what power he wields. He looks rather bothered with it, but in a Shikamaru sense. Quote
okamikk Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Gotta' love that facial expression, considering what power he wields. He looks rather bothered with it, but in a Shikamaru sense. i think he's just finding the whole experience rather limiting. i mean, the power suit's great and all, but it's nothing compared to the thaumic conundrum generated with a little tinkering.
