I think Celtic Heroes is a really good game although it's an MMORPG for the iPhone.  You kind of have to try it before you can judge it though.

One of my favorite games of all times (and probably unkown to a wide audience) was Road War 2000 and its sequel Roadwar Europe. No lets see how old you people really are

never heard of those games (I'm too young ) but I have heard of the S.S.I company, they made War Wind.

hehehe. Yeah they have to be from somewhere in the 80ies early 90ies.

They take place in a Mad Max like scenario of the USA and Europe. You lead a gang of Roadwarrior starting with only 8 people and a single car and work your up in hostile territory. No fancy graphics, nothing real time and a heavy relying on tactical aspects.

 

SSI was a wonderful game forge back then. They build the best strategic and tactical games on all available systems and I think most of them are still great and a wonderful challenge.
