warlordmaster Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Lately I've been looking for some good music and have decided to find myself some good scores. I got the Tron soundtrack as we as bits from movies like how to train your dragon. I was wondering though if anybody had any suggestions for good movie or game scores?

Jay? Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne - Great techno/gothic/rock soundtrack .hack//Sign - Great OST, especially the vocal stuff. Very pretty, generally relaxing nice music, also with techno influence. Final Fantasy VI, VII, VIII - All three games had magnificent soundtracks, from beginning to end.
SimpleGuy Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 I didn't see Lord of The Rings mentioned yet, which makes me a sad upside down ubercharged blue engineer.
Jorcer Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 I didn't see Lord of The Rings mentioned yet, which makes me a sad upside down ubercharged blue engineer. I second this. LOTR had some really good music.
okamikk Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 I didn't see Lord of The Rings mentioned yet, which makes me a sad upside down ubercharged blue engineer. your frown is upside down ^.^ ontopic: try music from the older pokemon games (leafgreen, firered, emerlad version stuff)
freakachu Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 .hack//Sign - Great OST, especially the vocal stuff. Very pretty, generally relaxing nice music, also with techno influence. .hack//sign has amazing music, I second this. still one of my most favorite series and franchises, despite being pretty boring half the time. great music though, for reals.
Mooseman9 Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 You guys forgot the Kingdom Hearts OST. Good stuff there. Oh, also Bastion.
MrFly Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Forza Horizon has a REALLY good score/soundtrack :3
Xylord Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Forza Horizon has a REALLY good score/soundtrack :3 Meh, dubstep and some pop. The rock tracks are okay-ish I guess.
Jay? Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 From SMT:Nocturne I really do love that whole OST
The_DarthMoogle Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 Bernstein (AKA Mr West Side Story) was a total genius. One can only imagine what he could've done with video game music (he was the kind of dude who would relish such an oppurtunity) Check this out from "On the Waterfront" (also a pretty good movie about gangsters in the New York docklands)
Jay? Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 If you're into musicals, try some Stephen Sondheim. A lot of very harsh tonalities, and dark themes. Good ones are "Into the Woods" "Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street" don't watch the one with johnny depp though, it was wretched. The good one is the stage performance with John Hearn and Angela Lansbury.

Jay? Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 Yeah the twilight score and titanic score are both really good!" said no one ever. I'm... not sure why you quoted me on that. Stephen Sondheim had nothing to do with either of those.

The_DarthMoogle Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 try some Stephen Sondheim. A lot of very harsh tonalities, and dark themes. Good ones are "Into the Woods" I had the immense privilege of playing the Narrator/Mysterious Man in that. Seriously fun play, that. I'm in my final year however, and guess what? Fucking Grease. If you knew me, you would share my enormous grief at this.

If my school had tried to do grease while i was in the club, i would have walked the fuck out. The only way to go lower than that is to go for "the sound of music". Old school musicals are downright painful.

Jay? Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 I suggested Chicago. Does that make me painful? EDIT : Had no idea when it was written until just now. Old school in reference to style. Sound of music, West side story, Annie, crap like that. Chicago was great, it broke the mold and kicked a lot of bad cliches. I wouldn't have the confidence to play in it, but it was still great.

Chicago on the other hand is an amazing musical. I loved it!
Cheap Shot Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 LOTR, Snatch, Zoolander, Katamari Damacy, Metropolis (animated), Cowboy Bebop, Machinarium, Grand Theft Auto (all of them).
Jeffdonatic Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Pretty much every score from Two steps from hell is good my favorites being Heart of Courage, Protectors of the earth and Strength of a thousand men
ErusPrime Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 I really enjoy the Ratchet and Clank soundtrack.
Sacrieur Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Two Steps from Hell has been mentioned, but also doing the same work is X-Ray Dog and Immediate Music.
