jakj Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Good work. I'm sure your effort will be just as needed even in a world with 4096 block IDs, because as soon as that becomes the non-hackish norm, people are going to get lazy again and stop using metadata intelligently, and we'll be right back to where we are now.
gotyaoi Posted July 4, 2012 Author Posted July 4, 2012 A new release. Now with SMP support. Not bukkit yet though, sorry. And a machine with which to smelt glass. Is that how glass-making works? I have no idea! It's how Minecraft glass-making works, so there!
jakj Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Real glass is formed either by lightning strike or by cooking in a furnace, so yes, you're Doing It Right. :D
Zebrin Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Depends on the glass. Most glass is made of a silicate with lime, magnesium oxide, and aluminum oxide providing stability. Sand in a furnace is pretty much a simplification for MC as that would produce really crappy brittle and milky glass in real life.
jakj Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 really crappy brittle and milky glass in real life In other words, glass, as it was before the beginnings of industrialization. Only the filthiest of rich people could afford actual transparent glass made by the true masters of the art, who jealously guarded their secrets so only a few of the best could even make it; The general populace, for the most part, didn't even realize glass -could- be transparent. In the timescale of our species, using glass for windows is a relatively-new thing.
gotyaoi Posted July 15, 2012 Author Posted July 15, 2012 More releases. New textures by our own Morton00000, particles on the furnace, and a new fuel system, inspired by one of jackj's comments.
gotyaoi Posted July 15, 2012 Author Posted July 15, 2012 Um... is this... I didn't realize this was that kind of forum.
The Merchant of Menace Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 It was a tossup between that and DIAMONDS FOR U [diamond] [diamond][diamond][diamond][diamond][diamond][diamond][diamond][diamond] :woot1: and no pics no clicks. I decided the latter would be less painful.
jakj Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 One bit-ee look-ee, two bit-ee feel-ee, three bit-ee do-ee.
Forum Administrators sct Posted July 16, 2012 Forum Administrators Posted July 16, 2012 It's not that type of forum but people like seeing pretty pictures to entice them to spend their time to download and install your mod. :v:
gotyaoi Posted July 16, 2012 Author Posted July 16, 2012 Yeah, just trying to make a pics or gtfo joke. As in, "Oh my, what kind of pics are you expecting me to post?" But yeah, pics are a good idea. On a somewhat related not, we do have a spoiler tag, yes? Something collapsible?
jakj Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 The only thing collapsible I can think of is the code tag, which probably works for text only. I can't even figure out how to scale down pictures on this new forum.
gotyaoi Posted July 30, 2012 Author Posted July 30, 2012 Okay, I cast the runes and added a link to the bukkit version to the first post. It appears to work for me. I would really appreciate testers though. And I'll put up some pictures tomorrow evening, I swear. For now... *dead*. Edit: I probably should mention, you install it similarly to the other versions but for tekkit, BlockThinFence.class goes in modpack.jar, with the remaining zip going into the mods folder as usual.
Zebrin Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 It looks great. Ground up baby animals as fuel... Welp.
jakj Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Yes, this fellow is just enough fucked in the head to fit in well, here.
Michael101 Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 I'm liking the new stained glass in the Forestry beta, mostly the glowstone stained glass. Adding a light source glass pane to this mod may be popular to players that don't use forestry.
gotyaoi Posted August 22, 2012 Author Posted August 22, 2012 Can you post a picture for reference? I haven't been keeping up with the beta stuff.
charcharmunro Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Is it bad that I thought up a system using this mod on a map where lava was not present that involves a deployer, a chicken-egg farm and the glass furnace?
gotyaoi Posted August 26, 2012 Author Posted August 26, 2012 That all depends on your definition of bad, I suppose. I mean, even if there was lava on the map, think of all the effort it would take to go fetch some of it!
jakj Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Welcome to modded Minecraft, where anything simple and straightforward is disparagingly labelled as "eeh, feels like Vanilla".
gotyaoi Posted August 26, 2012 Author Posted August 26, 2012 Anyway, as I'm working on the next release, I'll probably make it consume the lava, giving a fairly large amount of operations. Then the baby chickens might actually be the more efficient method.
charcharmunro Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Out of curiosity, since it's rather late and I don't have real time to install this mod, does the glass furnace immediately slaughter the mob on top of it, or does it do gradual damage and then kill them? Also, does it require that the furnace has work for an operation before it will start grinding things up?
